Firefly synchrony, etc

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your interest in this topic, and in improving Wikipedia.

However, the section you mention was not about Lucidota atra at all, but about Photinus carolinus, a different species of firefly. Further, the text was muddled and poorly-written. The paper was in fact already cited in the P. carolinus article. And the "Firefly" article already discusses synchrony. It's not clear whether the paper's findings about landing distance are specially significant - time may tell - but having groups of males following a female is certainly not limited to one species, and nor is synchronous flashing. Hope this is clear. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 18:03, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Taukeerppw. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article Pune, but that was wrong. It's been reverted and archived in the page history for now, if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you- Taukeerppw (talk) 21:53, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request

[edit]

Hello, I'm Jj1691. I want to tell you that two of your edit requests, at Template:Taxonomy/Lavinia and Template:Taxonomy/Hesperoleucus were declined. Wikiproject Fishes uses Fishes of the World, 5th edition, for taxonomy. Instead, you can mention the alternative classification at Hitch (fish) and California roach. Thanks. Hello. I wanted to let you know that your recent edit(s) to Jeff Bennett have been removed because you cited the information you added to IMDb. As discussed at WP:RS/IMDb, IMDb is considered a questionable source, and generally should not be used as a sole reference. You are welcome to re-add the information using a different reliable source, or with an additional source confirming the information from IMDb. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 18:58, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Enterobacter cloacae, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. The removal of key content from the page warrants the use of this second degree warning. Trainerkn (talk) 23:46, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Charles Otis Whitman, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "missing periodical" error. References show this error when the name of the magazine or journal is not given. Please edit the article to add the name of the magazine/journal to the reference, or use a different citation template. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 22:16, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. At least one of your edits, while it may have been in good faith, was difficult to distinguish from vandalism. To help other editors understand the reason for the changes, you can use an edit summary for your contributions. You can also take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Don't worry. I've fixed the article for now. Please be careful next time so as to not to introduce syntax errors when you are fixing the page. Thanks. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 17:44, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

TNCStatus tag

[edit]

You may not yet know about the {{TNCStatus}} tag that is sometimes used on plants and other species in place of a status like G5, G4, etc. It works by connecting with the WikiData database. The idea being that when a plant's global conservation status is updated by NatureServe then in information will also be updated in WikiData and this will also be automatically updated here in Wikipedia. The system is not yet perfect but it does show the correct status for plants like Apocynum androsaemifolium. You recently changed it out when you added a reference to the page. I changed it back because I think it is a bit preferable to a manual status tag. The barebones of this is outlined at Template:TNCStatus. If you have any questions you might want to ask the creator User:Dr vulpes or me. Yours, 🌿MtBotany (talk) 16:48, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
