New interest in currency-converter and inflation templates

As of August 2009, there is new interest in these excellent templates. I think the inflation-adjusting templates and currency-converter templates are useful and would like to see them adopted by the wider Wikipedia community. In addition, there is discussion about toggle buttons -- so a reader could click next to a monetary amount and switch currencies. Example: $42K NZD (New Zealand dollars). Click, it's $26K USD (United States dollars). User:SimonTrew and User:Ohconfucius and User:Shakescene as well as myself User:Tomwsulcer have been discussing possibilities on Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (dates and numbers) and we're interested in advancing this stuff. Hi Talk:7 I tried at one point to use it on the New Zealand page -- because there while the official currency is NZ dollars, people normally think in terms of US dollars. So I had a link to your user page here. But User:Gadfium who watches the NZ pages wouldn't allow it because he said it wasn't on an official Wikipedia page, and the currency amounts could be wrong. I still think it's a great idea and am willing to help push this idea, but I'm still somewhat of a nooB. User:Slrubenstein may be interested, possibly. But I think it would be a great tool to have current money amounts on articles expressed in perhaps two different currencies -- perhaps like this 40 (NZ$ - US$25). Or else a clickable button right on the article so users can click between currencies.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 02:43, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
