Thanks for the help! Equine-man (talk) 09:03, 29 April 2023 (UTC) |
- Thank you, Equine-man. My pleasure. Even in the reverted state, it could use clean up, especially the external links. If the promotional edits continue, I'd request page protection and report the users for vandalism. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 09:06, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- I already nominated the page for deletion a few days ago. Equine-man (talk) 09:07, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- I doubt it'll be deleted, given the number of franchises. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 09:09, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input there. Please see my comment. Equine-man (talk) 09:25, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. I don't think they have to own the garages--I'm assuming they're franchised. But if over 2,000 storefronts bear the company name, notability isn't an issue. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 09:27, 29 April 2023 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

Thank you very much for defending Wikipedia against copyright violations! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:57, 5 May 2023 (UTC) |
- ToBeFree, thank you. I'm going to open a thread at ANI later about the nest of apparently related accounts, all of which began editing similarly on April 27. I don't know if it's a school project or sockpuppets, but they're not fluent in English and rely upon posting copied and often editorial content. Feel free to follow the trail I've left thus far. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 20:00, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Ah, thank you very much, and for warning them as well. I have seen two of them so far; now you've uncovered a third one. Perhaps a school project going wrong.
- I'll wait and see if your warnings have any effect before continuing to block these accounts, but I'd block as soon as I see another copyright violation. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:13, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Five, even. Vittoria Alessandrini, Manon Bain, Hazal Ataturk, Hayden Davidson and Lau Cheng. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:14, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Yep, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's just the beginning. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 20:16, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- ToBeFree, I'd also check Dawson323 (talk · contribs), whose edits I haven't combed through yet, but the summaries, filled with claims of the content's "importance," suggest the same user(s). 76.119.253.82 (talk) 20:24, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- It's either sockpuppetry or meatpuppetry at this scale and with this equal behavior across many accounts. I have blocked all of those you found, now including Dawson323, and reverted some of their contributions presumptively. Please let me know if you find more; you can notify me on my talk page if you like to. When you edit my talk page, an editnotice will ask you to use WP:SPI for sockpuppetry reports instead, and of course you can use that too – I won't insist, though. This is a pretty clear case. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:38, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

ToBeFree, I hate to shop this around, but I got no traction with this question [1]. Essentially the same thing, a series of hit and run registered accounts acting in concert, mostly adding wikilinks everywhere. At any rate, if there's nothing there, ignore it. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 20:51, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Having a look! :) ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:52, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- I have replied there now, and I stumbled upon File:Select_types_of_edits_(mobile).jpg while writing my reply. Perhaps this explains the similarity in behavior better than coordination, but I'm not sure yet. The similarity of the usernames and the edit summaries can't be explained this way. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:24, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, ToBeFree. Cheezus, another one that thinks they're improving articles: SuspiciousReality70 (talk · contribs). Ugh. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 22:26, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Wow, that's a noticeable dedication to moderate-quality improvement... attempts. Some of them are okay, I think. Hm hm. There is currently nothing I can do as long as there are no copyright violations and the user doesn't disruptively ignore community concerns (such as yours, but ideally when multiple users have complained and the situation is more clear). ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:30, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- I hear you. Mostly they're rewording unsourced and promotional content, generally to more bloated effect. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 22:32, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- ToBeFree, you may be interested in the discussion re: this editor, which I've brought to ANI. It may herald the very near future here [2]. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 19:10, 6 May 2023 (UTC)

Oh, this is you again. I was about to welcome you! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:51, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, ToBeFree [3]. Cheers! 76.119.253.82 (talk) 22:53, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- Heh, yeah, one day we'll see a block by someone not checking these carefully enough, and I'm afraid the probability of me being that silly person isn't zero either. Hmmmmm. I fail to offer a real solution. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:57, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- Wouldn't be a first--I've been erroneously blocked before, and usually shout out to a friendly admin, go have a bite and a drink and wait for justice to be properly administered. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 22:59, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- A true "unblockable", it seems. ;) On one hand, messaging a specific administrator should never be necessary and {{unblock}} does exist; on the other hand, the block should probably not exist in the first place either and the queue is huge, so... Well... I couldn't blame you for doing that. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:12, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- I have used the template, but yes, it is a lengthier process than pinging someone who is familiar with me. And since the blocks have been accidental or mistaken, it's not the same as having actually violated guidelines and requesting to be unblocked through standard procedure. 76.119.253.82 (talk) 01:49, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

ToBeFree, I'm thinking Paisley Harrison (talk · contribs) is another account associated with the above group of five or six you blocked. Cheers, 76.119.253.82 (talk) 02:30, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
