A tag has been placed on Category:Gardens in Philippines requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. No need to be passive-aggressive about it. We do have guidelines that ask editors not to put lists of mostly or all redlinks into mainspace, for the simple reason that they are of no use to the reader. Just publish it again once there are some pages to point to. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 19:21, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Abune

Thank you for creating Quito Botanical Garden.

User:Blythwood, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

With articles where the subject's name is not in English, it's a very good idea to set up a redirect from the name in the original language. So that, for instance, if you're in Ecuador and you see the garden's signboard but don't speak Spanish well you can easily find the Wikipedia article. I've therefore redirected Jardín Botánico de Quito to this article and put that name in the article so it's easier to Google. Hope that makes sense!

Mazan Ecological Foundation moved to draftspace

[edit]

I'm afraid the references provided don't demonstrated that the society is WP:NOTABLE enough in the Wikipedia sense to have an article - i.e., we need to demonstrate that multiple independent sources have written about it in detail. The sources currebtly provided are either not independent of the society, or don't constitute in-depth treatment. Can you have a look for newspaper or scholarly articles? These usually provide the best grounds for establishing notability. (University in-house publications can be considered to be at least partly promotional in character, and are not suitable for that - although facts can be sourced to these.) Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 14:33, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I had my own doubts about it too. However they got the initials of its herbarium AZUA. That's something not easy to get and it convinced me that they are for real. I can't find any more evidence of notability then this one. User:Abune (talk) 15:02, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(Sorry, that was kind of a "new editor" message - didn't check :) Hm. Is there some kind of precedent for assuming notability if in possession of an international herbarium denominator - e.g. via consensus at Botany wikiproject? One doesn't normally know about them unless active in the relevant project... --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 15:11, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Actually each page has talk space to discuss matters like this one. I'm sorry but you took significant action - moved page to Draft without prior discussion. I'm not sure that's proper way to seek consensus on anything. User:Abune (talk) 15:16, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What I'm suggesting above is would be a special consensus that would allow publication of an article that under normal circumstances would not satisfy notability requirements. It is very much your (the author's) responsibility to make sure something like that exists - you can't just assume it. If you are not sure notability is satisfied, you should not have published the page, and it is definitely within new page review's remit to either draftify or AfD an article that does not meet notability requirements. Between "hoping it sticks despite dodgy sourcing" and "making sure it is suitable for mainspace before publishing", the preference should clearly be on the latter. - You are of course welcome to republish, but I'm not sure why you would prefer to have this sorted out at AfD rather than making sure beforehand. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 18:09, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • If you feel like doing this special consensus that would allow publication of an article with possession of an international herbarium denominator please do so !!! That will be real help !!! User:Abune (talk) 20:25, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

One World Conservation Center moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, One World Conservation Center, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Currently it is only sourced by primary (or affiliated) sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, Abune. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Mazan Ecological Foundation".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 13:47, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits that are not minor

[edit]

Information icon Hi Abune! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. ThoughtIdRetired (talk) 20:50, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Desert City moved to draftspace

[edit]

What's the idea here please? Not a single one of the general "sources" given has anything to say about this specific location - in fact they look to be dazzle. This is therefore functionally unreferenced, and should not be in mainspace in this state. Please make sure that there is sufficient referenceing for all the text. Translating an equally unreferenced version in another language (which you did not attribute BTW) is not a good motivation for this kind of thing. Lighthouse maps

[edit]

Hi Abune, I like what you are doing with the lighthouse maps, but I also feel that one map is sufficient in the infobox. Would you be able to make your changes to the map at the top of the infobox without adding a new one at the bottom? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:02, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your friendly suggestion. One map gives general overview while other provides location details and very (!) often indicates how off coordinates are. So on many occasions I also correct coordinates. From reader prospective this local map offers proof that coordinates are somewhat good. Hope you agree with my approach. User:Abune (talk) User:Abune (talk) 14:13, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I do and I don't. I can see the advantages of a close-up but I don't think we can justify the space taken up by two maps in the infobox. I have seen some infoboxes with a radio button to choose the view. Is that something we could explore on Template talk:Infobox lighthouse? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:34, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'd guess that decision must be made by team who created and support Template:Infobox lighthouse. I'm not really interested in redesigning Template itself but other people might be. It works for me either way. User:Abune (talk) 17:44, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop adding additional maps to infoboxes. The purpose of using a template is to create a consistent look across different articles. If you think this idea is worth pursuing, please take it to the template talk page. I believe that your current actions are undesirable. Thanks — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:26, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Maps in infoboxes

[edit]

Hi, I saw you added embedded maps to the infoboxes of several French communes, e.g. Bernières-sur-Mer. However, {{Infobox French commune}} already has this feature, hidden under "Location of Bernières-sur-Mer" just above the map of France, so I'm going to remove them. An infobox does not need more than one location map, and your actions are becoming disruptive. Can you also stop adding NOTOC to articles. Thank you — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:50, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sir ! You are actively provoking editors war ! Why should I follow your PERSONAL PREFERENCES ? Are you Wikipedia Editor in Chief ? Like I indicated earlier I have ZERO interest in editors wars winch is obviously not the case with you ! User:Abune (talk) 13:25, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have asked you to stop making these changes until you have consensus to do them. But you still keep doing it! Next time I will open a report at WP:AN — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:05, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sir ! Stop stalking my edits and stop threatening me with horrible consequences!!! Find something more productive to do !!! We did head disagreement about lighthouse info box and I attempted to discuss that issue with you ! However you quickly stopped any discussion and started on insisting of YOUR personal preferences ! Again ! I think there are Wikipedia rules against stalking and harassing people ! That’s what you do !!! Find better ways to spend your time online !!! User:Abune (talk) 00:50, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why you placed two different mapframes in Nishiyama Zoo. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:49, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • The idea is to help with Zoo geo location. One frame is for general orientation within urban conglomeration, another one is more detailed and supposed to show Zoo boundaries. Some Zoos has boundaries visualized with red contours, while others like Nishiyama Zoo do not have that feature implemented as of yet. Hopefully it will done in the future. User:Abune (talk) 20:04, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, at Golden Beach, Florida, you added a mapframe, but there were already two maps in the infobox. This is a fairly short article, and the infobox now occupies about 70 percent of the right side. If someone adds a photo, it would poke into the references. Can you see any problem with this? Thank you again. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:11, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • This map is different from a picture map. It's interactive map and can be used to zoom in or out with one "click". The article is not protected from edits, so anyone can remove map if he or she feels strongly about "space taken".

My recommendation - keep it ! User:Abune (talk) 20:52, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm asking you these question because you've added these maps to hundreds of articles, and many of these additions did not appear to be an improvement. At Beverly Beach, Florida, you added a mapframe in addition to a pushpin map. There was no consensus to do this at Template talk:Infobox settlement/Archive 30, and MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE specifically states "The less information it contains, the more effectively it serves that purpose, allowing readers to identify key facts at a glance." At the Beverly Beach article, there are now three maps in the infobox of this very short article, and the population template has been pushed a mile below the end of the article. Could you please seek a consensus before adding mapframes to articles that don't need them. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:41, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have opened a report at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#User:Abune — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:52, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You certainly welcome to do whatever you consider the best course of action ! User:Abune (talk) 01:57, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Will you stop adding unnecessary mapframes, as illustrated above? Magnolia677 (talk) 09:55, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • ” latest National Geographic-Roper survey sparked editorials in newspapers across the United States. The National Geographic Society polled 510 Americans ages eighteen to twenty-four and found that the majority of them don't know, in the broadest sense of the phrase, where they are. Most people cannot locate the places flashed before them on maps shown on TV news programs, even places of war and disaster. We don't know if younger students were polled, but you can take the test to assess your level of knowledge. You might do better!”

quote from Edutopia also check how many “Thank you” notes from Wikipedia users I got before labeling me as “disruptive user”. Simply admit that your judgment and actions were wrong ! It happens !!! 🫠 User:Abune (talk) 14:13, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Minor [editorial disagreement] escalated into unilateral action by the same administrator ([block]). I've been editing Wikipedia since 2006 and have not seen such a blatant abuse of power by any administrator ! This is request for disciplinary action against user MSGJ for an inappropriate use of administrative privileges  ! User:Abune (talk) 15:05, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I think calling this a "blatant abuse of power" is excessive. MSGJ requested input and review from uninvolved persons at ANI and received no reply in two and a half days. While waiting, your disruption continued. MSGJ (as all admins do) had a responsibility to prevent disruption to Wikipedia and cannot just allow it to continue. After blocking you (for only a week) they again requested review by others. Hardly the signs of someone deliberately abusing powers in my opinion. My opinion is not the last word, once the block has expired, you are free to contribute to the ANI discussion, or you can attempt to persuade another admin to remove the block early if you acknowledge your disruption. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 07:48, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Abune: are you going to stop adding these maps as many editors have asked you?
Reviewing admin: please see thread on WP:AN — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:12, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sir if you'd like to discuss this matter further we certainly can do that ! However please use arguments related to actual edits and not to your likes and dislikes ! As I recall there has been objections in the past to introduction of Infoboxes per se, however that discussion is now over and Infoboxes do exist. Are they best they could be ? Absolutely not ! So we use what we got ! I myself have limited online time and even so (I think !) I have sufficient skills to contribute to Infoboxes design I'm not eager volunteer to do that. Just not my piece of cake. I'm not going to do any promises as to my future edits whatsoever, however if you give me good argument like "Hey, I'm going to assemble team to redesign such and such infoboxes, give us some time !" I'd certainly will give you every opportunity to do that ! If you can't argue your point in reasonable fashion and simply use your administrative powers to roll over user opinion all bets are off ! Sir! Just want to clarify that basic information, such as size of the park, specific names of particular gardens, number of species, etc. shouldn't be removed from suspected copyrighted material.( see Parque Terra Nostra ) This is still a draft, not a final product ! Are you administrator at Wikipedia or just regular user like myself ? User:Abune (talk) 20:57, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm an administrator on the English Wikipedia. The text that I removed from that page was sufficiently creative and can't be copied to Wikipedia. When we talk about things below the threshold of originality, we're talking about things like lists of awards, proper nouns, and bibliographies. It's not okay to copy sentences verbatim and present them as original prose, even in draftspace. DanCherek (talk) 23:16, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarification and especially (!) thank you for not pretending that you are just a regular user ! This sets boundaries even in casual conversation ! I wish Wikipedia change it rules and it will be mandatory to all administrators to sign with clear indication as to who they are ! You will agree with me that you are not talking on the street in the same way with regular folk and with policeman ! Since you whipped out my text really clean ( I can’t even see the difference between my version that included description of one flower that I literally took from the source which I heavily referenced, the description that I should have quoted and that I believe triggered your actions. ) I will post extensive quotes from my source on talk page of the article so may be someone will be able identify which of two flowers that description fits. Chikuma mountains moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Chikuma mountains, is not suitable as written to remain published. Simply showing that a place exists is not enough. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). • Thank you for your efforts ! These mountains are in Japan, so English language sources are in short supply. Obviously there are plenty of citations in Japanese language. After all Japanese people for sure explored these mountains. We face however much more difficult situation in remote areas, such as Antarctica on Earth or mountains on Moon or Mars. Articles about these mountains, lakes, glaciers, etc has to be removed from Wikipedia based on WP:GNG ? Or there is double standard here ? What is good for Martian mountains is not good for mountains in Japan ? Pleases clarify your comment ! User:Abune (talk) 14:52, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just a question

[edit]

Why do you continually pushing the Mtianeti map over the Georgian map (diff1, diff2) but don't do the same with the Ossetia map over the Russian map in the case of the Dargavs? Country maps are more important than their subdivisions. Ⴂ. ႡႠႪႠႾႠႻႤ 16:48, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Good question ! While for most countries (including Georgia !) this infobox: Infobox settlement is used In case of Russia different one is used: Infobox Russian rural locality. And that infobox for Russia has built in maps. So to change maps one has to redesign infobox itself. Too much for me ! Developers might do that if you ask them. An article you recently created, Our Natural Park, is not suitable as written to remain published. While it appears to be notable, it needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I did this rather than removing the uncited material in the article, which I felt would be more disruptive. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask on my talk page. Hi. You recently added Wikidata to the article in the form of a Wikimap location. Not sure how, but the Wikimap data is about 100 metres out from where the ground is currently location, but here on Wikidata the coordinate data looks correct, so no idea what's going on there. Any ideas?! StickyWicket (talk) 21:04, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is artifact created by parameter in Wikidata "Manual" with value "special (±0.00937943°)"
I unchecked "Manual" and now map location looks different with the same numeric value of coordinates. Let me know if Coordinates itself need correction.User:Abune (talk) 13:43, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. They still appear out on the article page. The centre of the cricket ground was located at 16.7144, -62.2250 (on your screen just north of the red marker you can still make out the ruins of the grandstand on satellite). StickyWicket (talk) 15:16, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for providing up-to-date coordinates. I put your rounded data 16°42'52"N 62°13'30"W into wikidata. Hope now it looks OK. I looked on Google terrain map and can see only greenery there. User:Abune (talk) 15:29, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
