Artist known? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:58, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
The artist was Arthur Hacker RA, 1858-1919. This portrait now hangs in the Great Hall at Bedford School. It was the smaller of two versions painted by the artist, and was originally the property of Mrs Marion Phillpotts. The larger portrait which hung in the school was destroyed by fire some years ago, and this smaller one was then donated to the school by the Phillpotts family. A page you started (Arthur Montagu Gwynn) has been reviewed!
[edit]Thanks for creating Arthur Montagu Gwynn, Acrestreet!
Wikipedia editor Animalparty just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:
Please avoid "peacock terms" and other loaded language like "intrepid", "ever curious", " keen interest", etc., and any tone that is overly sympathetic, laudatory, or similarly unprofessional. Facts should be straight-forward, opinions must be attributed to person holding such opinion or omitted. See WP:TONE for more tips.

Request reason:
On further reflection, it seems to me that the only reason my account might seem to be linked with that of anybody else is that both accounts have used the same computer. In that case the explanation is simple: the computer in question was a shared one. I am a pensioner and I do not have any internet connection at home; my internet work is normally done at my local public library using one of a number of free public computers. Clearly it is possible that such computers may sometimes be used by other Wikipedia correspondents. A comparison of the styles and subjects of the contributions made by myself and any such third parties should make it obvious that there is no actual connection between myself and them. I respectfully suggest that the administrator should carry out a more thorough check than appears to have been done so far.
Accept reason:
Per discussion below. Bbb23 (talk) 17:27, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
This sounds like a reasonable explanation, and it correlates perfectly what I see in the real world; as I once remarked on my talk page. I don't know about your public library computers, but mine only allows a session for about two hours (unless you take your own laptop in and use wifi), and I suspect most are the same. Therefore, one would expect many different people to be using the same IP over the course of a single day. I think assumption of good faith is appropriate here - paging blocking admin @Bbb23: for comment. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:32, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- This is also usually pretty easy to tell by the IP. If that is the case, I would support an unblock as well. SQLQuery me! 17:04, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Acrestreet, have you used computers only at the one library?--Bbb23 (talk) 17:05, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
Acrestreet's reply to Bbb23 @Bbb23: : I have mainly used the computers at Stroud Library (under Gloucestershire County Council). In the past I also used the computers at Nailsworth Library (also under G.C.C.). In addition I have occasionally used computers at the homes of friends, while visiting them. At this moment I am using a friend's computer in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, where I am currently on a visit.
- Thanks, Acrestreet, for being so forthcoming. I've unblocked you and removed the tag from your userpage. Happy editing!--Bbb23 (talk) 17:28, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
@Bbb23: Thanks, Bbb23!
@Ritchie333: Thanks for your help also, Ritchie333.
- Friendly hint: pinging doesn't work unless you WP:sign, and you have to sign in the same edit that you ping. Here you didn't sign at all. I have your Talk page on my watchlist, so I noticed it anyway.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:10, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
(ec) You’re welcome. I remember going to a wedding near Nailsworth once, nice part of the world that I’ve never been back to except stopping at the Air Balloon on the A417 on the shunpiking route from London to Wales (and by extension, Ireland). Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:14, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- I am one of the users of the shared public computers at Stroud Library / Gloucester County Council Library Services. This IP address has been blocked because one or more of its users has/have been posting unacceptable matter. I request the administrator to verify from my contributions hitherto that I am a responsible Wikipedia contributor, and grant me an IP block exemption. Thankyou.
@Bbb23:This is further to our earlier correspondence. I am now back in Stroud. Acrestreet (talk) 12:27, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- As Bbb23 said, he has already unblocked you and you are free to edit. I've removed the code from your renewed unblock request, and left only your text. Please don't post any more unblock requests, as they will needlessly call yet another admin to this page to review your block, even though it has been lifted. Happy editing! UTRS appeal #22161 was submitted on Jul 24, 2018 12:39:08. This review is now closed.
--UTRSBot (talk) 12:39, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- Note: The user has been unblocked but still can't edit, according to a message he wrote and then removed, apparently in order to appeal via UTRS instead. User:Bbb23 and/or anybody else that's good with autoblocks, step in to help him, please? Bishonen | talk 14:42, 24 July 2018 (UTC).
- Acrestreet and the lovely Bishonen, it wasn't really an autoblock, but, in any event, it should work now. Acrestreet, rather than going through UTRS, just ping me if you have a problem.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:25, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
@Bbb23: All is now well - many thanks! Acrestreet (talk) 11:09, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 1
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Shankhari Bazaar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bangles (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
