Regarding formatting and grammar

[edit]

When attempting to correct grammar, please be careful when editing links. You'll notice links by [[the double brackets]] on either side. For example, in the M16 rifle article, you replaced Airmobile with Air-mobile. Air-mobile doesn't have an article, which is why it has a red link (we don't like those).

You may want to read what the Manual of Style has to say on British and American spellings. The rave article used the British spelling for words you "corrected," such as organisation. This was another article where you broke a link attempting to correct spelling, changing Oldschool jungle to Old school jungle.

Until you get used to formatting here, you may want to click the "show preview" button (next to "save page") before saving. In this attempt to bold the book title in the article The Kite Runner, all you did was add in ' ' ' ' 'Bold text' ' ' ' ' - I'm guessing because you just clicked the bold button. If you have any more questions, contact me on my talk page. Ian.thomson (talk) 13:42, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a challenge for you

[edit]

As a new contributor to WP, you (as we all did) have a lot to learn. One of the ways that learning can take place is through article improvement and here's one that needs it: List of Spanish words having different meanings in distinct Spanish-speaking countries. I saw on your user page that you were the chairman of your spanish club, thus I conclude you have some interest in and knowledge of the Spanish language. This article needs improvement. It has been nominated for deletion twice, but survives because it is still on the fence. If you want to take the challenge and try making this a better article, I will help you learn the ways of WP any way I can. The first step you should take is to review the two AfDs Here and Here to see what other editors had to say about the article, its shortcomings and its positive aspects. Another easy thing to do is engage members in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Languages on their talk page with questions about improving this article. Whether or not this article stays in WP, if you take on the challenge of improving it, you will learn a lot about how WP works. Good Luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page.--Mike Cline (talk) 18:31, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What a lovely invitation to share talent! Pity you didn't want to pick up that challenge.--Georgiasouthernlynn (talk) 00:53, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
