Speedy deletion nomination of Claude Barras
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Claude Barras requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://ritaproductions.com/en/films/ma-vie-de-courgette/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Like the second paragraph says above, if it's your content then we need proof of that, to make sure you're not reusing someone else's content (and releasing it under a CC licence!) without their permission. But if you've rewritten the article, I'll remove the deletion template. Thanks.
- Do take a look at WP:COI if you have a professional connection to Barras or his work, though. --McGeddon (talk) 10:07, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks McGeddon. I am not hired by Claude Barras, so there is no conflict of interest. I am coordinating the Oscars' campaign for My Life as a Zucchini. For informative reasons, it has been requested that all directors of films presented at the Oscars have a Wikipedia page. Many thanks for your support. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:120B:2C79:2F20:ACDE:77A:BC16:3A03 (talk) 10:17, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying, but if you're here to create articles because an employer is paying you to do so, and has given you a list of articles to create, then this may be at odds with what Wikipedia is trying to do. Please take a look at WP:PAY. --McGeddon (talk) 10:49, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for claryifing and for the link, but I wasn't paid to create this page and I have absolutely no list of articles to create - I only did it for Claude Barras - there is no personal or professional interest involved. Many thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:120B:2C79:2F20:ACDE:77A:BC16:3A03 (talk) 11:23, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- Then what do you mean by "I am coordinating the Oscars' campaign for My Life as a Zucchini" and "it has been requested"? What is the "campaign", and who has "requested" the article be created? --McGeddon (talk) 11:28, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
I actually only organize all travels and accomodation for the producers of the film and create the press material for Switzerland (press kit, flyers). The film publicist in LA mentioned that all directors are supposed to have a wikipedia page because the Oscars' entries have a link to the director's wiki pages. Since I created contents for the press kits and know well about Barras' biography, I therefore took the initiative to create a page for Claude Barras. Now you have the whole story :-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:120B:2C79:2F20:ACDE:77A:BC16:3A03 (talk) 11:46, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- If you're doing this as part of your job, that's paid editing. If you're doing it for fun, it's still a conflict of interest to be writing about an aspect of your day job. It'd be better to take any future articles through Wikipedia:Articles for creation, and let someone else write them. --McGeddon (talk) 12:05, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
Ok, in the future, if it happens again, I will go through "Articles for creation" rather than create an article myself - I didn't actually know we had this option. Sorry, I am new to Wikipedia, I just created my account today, so I don't know yet how it works. Many thanks for your help and advice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:120B:2C79:2F20:ACDE:77A:BC16:3A03 (talk) 12:08, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
Hello, Adrian Stiefel. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Claude Barras, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:11, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
Kudpung, thanks for notifying the lack of sources. I just edited the article and added two links in the references. I hope I did it the correct way, I am new to Wikipedia. How do we remove now the deletion notice? Many thanks.
