Images on commons

[edit]

Hi thanks for uploading numerous valuable images to Commons.[1] However, please bear in mind that its important to add a source (e.g. direct link) for the material you decide to upload. Also, please add a proper title for the images you upload. Makes it much easier to categorize/recognize pictures. Best, - LouisAragon (talk) 22:03, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your welcome. I don't have a link. These images were in just in my archive. And for the second part, I've changed the descriptions. Amir El Mander (talk) 22:22, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, House of Achaemenes

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, House of Achaemenes. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Achaemenid Kingdom. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Achaemenid Kingdom. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Daiyusha (talk) 06:40, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that Amghishiya/edit, a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It appears to be a test page. (See section G2 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. qedk (tc) 19:07, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's okay, you can delete it. I needed help of ContentTranslation2, which I couldn't use it with sandbox and I needed a real page. Aryzad (talk) 19:11, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Persian Empire, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ahmad Shah (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 13:56, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Turanians of Shahnameh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Question about meaning of Persian word

[edit]

User:Aryzad, Hi. I am of the assumption that you speak Persian. May I please ask you about the meaning of the Persian word ""farshegan" or "parshegan." Does this word in Persian mean "version" or "copy"? I am in need of its accurate translation.Davidbena (talk) 18:38, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Davidbena:. Persian is my mother tongue and I will be glad to help; but I've never heard about this word. Can you write it in Perso-Arabic script? Persian word version and copy is "nosxe" "نسخه". Aryzad (talk) 18:47, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The word appears in the Aramaic translation of the Hebrew Bible (in Deuteronomy 17:18), as פרשגן (farshegan or parshegan), but it is also said to be spelt פתשגן (transliteration: fatshegen, or patshegen), a substitute word for the Hebrew word "copy," and said by lexicographer Marcus Jastrow, in his Dictionary of the Targumim and Midrashic Literature, to be a Persian word having the connotation of repetition, copy, abstract. The medieval rabbi, Saadia Gaon, translates the word in Judeo-Arabic, writing as you did, "nosxe" "نسخه", or "version" for this same word. I do not know how the word would have been written in Old Persian, although it was something like fatshegen, or patshegen.Davidbena (talk) 19:10, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidbena: I think the word looks like a Middle Persian word, since -gān is a Middle Persian suffix, but I'm not sure. Also, Middle Persian word for version is "pachen". It is possible that parshegan is Aramaic form of a loanword, but we can't be sure.
Yes, نسخه is an Arabic word[3]. Aryzad (talk) 19:37, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. So how would you write in Middle Persian the word "pachen", which, as you said, means "version"?Davidbena (talk) 20:27, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidbena: Your welcome.
Sorry, Middle Persian was written in Pahlavi script, and I can't write in Pahlavi. pachen in Perso-Arabic is: پچین. Here is a link to پچین in a dictionary. However, the word is not widely used in New Persian. Aryzad (talk) 20:48, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidbena: Also in Wiktionary [4] [5]; Hebrew word paṯšéḡen is also mentioned in Wiktionary. Aryzad (talk) 20:52, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Aryzad: Thank-you very much for your kind and thorough reply. Your source writes Persian: پچین, romanizedpačin, and is said to mean "copy," or "an identical duplication," although for the lack of a Pahlavi script I wrote here Perso-Arabic. This was, indeed, helpful! Again, thanks!Davidbena (talk) 21:32, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidbena: Your welcome! I'm glad I was able to help. Aryzad (talk) 21:50, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Ottoman Empire shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Khirurg (talk) 15:29, 14 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Khirurg: I am trying to solve to problem by adding more sources and he is removing sourced content. I've asked him to join the discussion. Twice. You should warn him, not me. Aryzad (talk) 15:47, 14 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Churchill's Dog in the Manger Quotation

[edit]

I disagree strenuously regarding the importance of the Dog in the Manger quotation from W. Churchill. I've seen it floating around the internet for years before I fully understood what it was about. The quotation is extremely misleading on its own without further context. Please do not contribute further to the problem. He made those comments in the context of the Peel Commission. He was really making a point about Jews and Arabs in Palestine, it had nothing per se to do with his views of natives of either America or Australia. And it was not an endorsement of displacing the Arabs, which again the entire context of his testimony (can be found in book by Martin Gilbert I cited) reveal quite explicitly but is hidden by the clipped quotation. If you wanted to be a reductionist and ask for a single most important quote summarizing Churchill's racial views how about the following "What is the sense of being against a man simply because of his birth?” — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.202.209.215 (talk) 23:02, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • The quote is used by a reliable source.[6] Removing it is not a good idea. However, as I said in the edit summary, you can add a scholar's opinion about the quote to make it more encyclopedic. If you can you think "Native Americans" is not a good title for the section, then change it to, for example, "Jewish migration to Palestine".
  • The article is not just about his racist comments. It's about his racial views. If "What is the sense of being against a man simply because of his birth?" is verifiable, then there is nothing wrong with adding it to the article. Aryzad (talk) 00:54, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
