- @DIVINE Hi. Thanks for responding so quickly. The film was reviewed in Cinema Canada and a now defunct magazine called Entertainment. would noting those two reviews along with the academic reference -- which I thought, being catalogued might be more credible -- satisfy the criteria? 69.60.79.195 (talk) 19:33, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
- Please add additional references, atleast 3 reliable sources. DIVINE 07:22, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
- @DIVINE Hi. I managed to cite a Cinema Canada review. cinema Canada is archived. I have two other reviews, however both are scans of articles that appeared in publications that are not archived. I can't even find the dates they were published. All I have are the titles of the articles, the authors, and the names of the publications. Any advice? 69.60.79.195 (talk) 19:40, 20 July 2022 (UTC)

- @GRuban thank you. pls tell me which link was dead. Attributed2 (talk) 16:23, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- "My Friend Vince". Canadian Film Makers Distribution Centre. May 2022.
{{cite web}}
: CS1 maint: url-status (link) is a 404 Not Found. More important that fixing the link, though, is adding more third party links that go into detail about the film: reviews from books, newspapers, magazines, well known film reviewers. If the Canadian Film Makers Distribution Centre is distributing the film, they're going to be biased in its favor, so are probably not ideal. Cite every paragraph at least. Wikipedia:Citing sources explains. --GRuban (talk) 16:27, 1 November 2022 (UTC)- Hey, I found something that might help: https://cinemacanada.athabascau.ca/index.php/cinema/article/viewFile/398/469 - is this the Cinema Canada review you mention above? Cinema Canada seems like an excellent source. A couple more like this would probably suffice, if you use them correctly. --GRuban (talk) 16:36, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- @GRuban thank you for that. I thought that I had posted that. I must have made a technical mistake. Attributed2 (talk) 16:38, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- @GRuban thanks again. the link was broken because of an upgrade to the website. I can fix that easily enough. there was one magazine article about the film which I have; alas it's not dated, the magazine folded decades ago and searches through archives have so far proved fruitless. I totally understand the necessity of meeting wikipedia criteria and I very much appreciate the efforts of volunteers. That said, it's frustrating. It is because independent Canadian films made in the 70s were so overlooked that I want the entry published, and at the same time the reason I'm having a hard time meeting the criteria. Attributed2 (talk) 16:37, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, if the film was overlooked, it might not be eligible. Wikipedia is a tertiary source; we don't write original information, we only document the world's knowledge, so if the world doesn't know much about something, we don't write about it. --GRuban (talk) 16:40, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- @GRuban I'm going to try to dig up the article I mentioned. the magazine was called Entertainment T.O. I'll resubmit the cinema Canada article and send a fresh link to the CFMDC. And keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again for the time Attributed2 (talk) 16:44, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Cite every paragraph, make sure the References section is coherent (right now you have two citations after the References section: the <ref> tags go after teh text you're citing to them, not after the References section). --GRuban (talk) 17:31, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

- Thanks. A bit of a story: in an fit of tidying I scanned a review of My Friend Vince and threw out the magazine in which it was published. The scan doesn't note the date of publication. To find the date I've had to petition the National Archives in Ottawa. I'm in Toronto. I should get to Ottawa in June. The article will be the final piece needed to satisfy Wikipedia's criteria. I blame my wife for this. :) Attributed2 (talk) 14:31, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

- @Liz Liz I am obviously challenged in some way I did not know until now. I thought I had edited and resubmitted five months and three weeks ago. A couple of weeks ago, worried that it had fallen into a crack, I nervously posted a request to have my resubmission reevaluated. Help me please Attributed2 (talk) 11:34, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
