India in the Signpost
I've actually thought about doing a special "themed" issue of the Signpost by collaborating with several regular and inactive sections of the newspaper to cover all aspects of India and Wikipedia. Here's what I was thinking about doing. Would you be interested in participating in helping with something like that? -Mabeenot (talk) 01:34, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Admin help (again)
{{adminhelp}}
Would a willing admin please move this page to Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, the spelling on its official website. It is an obvious misspelling and I do not want to go through the requested move process for this uncontroversial move. Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 21:06, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion
I know you nominated the article Canine Partners for speedy deletion. I have just created this article minutes before you nominated it, and am about to expand it. Please don't delete it. pluma (talk) 16:50, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

DYK: Hashim Abdul Halim, Biman Banerjee, Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly
- Hey, Avenue X at Cicero. Got your e-mail. Thank you.
- Due to me? I'm sure it's not. :-) Anyway, thank you for your wikicontributions.
- These days, I am having problems accessing the internet (using a borrowed PC right now), so I won't be able to help much at DYK or anywhere in the wiki. Please check that your nominated articles have at least 1500 characters of prose. HAH looks a little short. Anyway, good luck.
- Happy editing. Cheers!

- That's why I said that I would be much obliged if you re-reviewed my nom. I would like to have a second look regarding the last comment of Crisco in which he says that the Speaker article is much duplicated. I don't say he is wrong, but the words that are duplicated are just words like "of the speaker in" and "to the deputy speaker." I do not know how to improve it further and would like to hear from you if you have a second opinion. Regards, Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 17:40, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Please don't abuse the use of that as a speedy criteria. Your tagging here was entirely inappropriate. The tag is to be applied to those articles which replicate the text copied straight from another wiki with no attempt at translation.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:48, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Mechuka Giant Flying Squirrel
Hello Avenue X at Cicero. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Mechuka Giant Flying Squirrel, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A10 does not apply to different topics where the content overlaps. Thank you. —SpacemanSpiff 17:23, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
too speedy for a speedy
Please do not place a speedy tag for no content or no context within the first few minutes after the article has been created. How much time to allow depends on whether it looks like its a plausible attempt or first step in writing an article. In the case of Christian Orthodox cemeteries, categories had been added, which implies that the user knew what they were doing. A more appropriate thing to do would have been to wait an hour or two, and then send a friendly reminder.
more generally, I notice that three of your speedy deletion tags have been declined by three different administrators in the last few days. Please go back and read carefully WP:CSD and WP:Deletion Policy. The criteria are applied narrowly. I find it helpful myself to go back and re-read those two pages every once in a while, to make sure I do not drift from the actual criteria.
As a suggestion, why not try patrolling from the back of the unpatrolled backlog. It's extremely important that these all be checked before they disappear from to the list of new pages. DGG ( talk ) 18:11, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
DYK help
Hi Avenue X, I recently created the article North America Vishwa Kannada Association. Can you tell me the process which I can follow to nominate it for DYK? Also, please suggest a hook if you can. W.E
Hi, the poster that was at W.E (film) is a fake poster. You can see a discussion here. The primary contributor says he has seen both styles, so let's wait until an official poster comes out before making a move. Erik (talk | contribs) 16:25, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
- Even IMDb refers to the film as W.E. . Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 17:42, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
- I would not use IMDb as a reliable source (see WP:RS/IMDB), but I do see reliable sources in Google News Search using W.E. with the second period. Legolas, the primary contributor, says he has seen it both ways, but maybe there is a case to be made to move to W.E. based on these sources, not just IMDb. License tagging for File:COPS intertitle.png
Thanks for uploading File:COPS intertitle.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Whats the pint of life
Hello Avenue X at Cicero. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Whats the pint of life to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 13:34, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I thought the page should be speedily deleted because it is unencyclopaedic, but was not sure about the rationale I should use for the purpose. Anyways, thanks. Regards, Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 13:49, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- There have often been proposals (including some from me) for speedies for "unencyclopedic" or "original research" or "blatantly made up one day", but they get turned down because of problems of definition. If you can't find one of the standard speedy tags to fit, it usually means the page doesn't qualify - the speedy criteria are intentionally restricted. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 14:07, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Hello Avenue X at Cicero. I am just letting you know that I have deleted the page Connor upton as G3: Vandalism (a blatantly clear case), Not A7 as you tagged it. The page has also already been previously deleted as you should have noticed from the page log. Please consider taking a short break from tagging new pages until you have read and fully understood the instructions at WP:NPP Thank you. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:51, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ah... that one. I thought I would tag it as A7 becuase after I did a Google search, no credible results came, and since the user was writing an autobiography; anyways, sorry for tagging it A7! Regards, Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 14:54, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello Avenue X at Cicero. I am just letting you know that I have deleted the page St Xavier high school (Mumbai) and closed the AfD as G6: Housekeeping and routine (non-controversial) cleanup - article page used in error as a redirect. Please stop patrolling pages now until you have assured me that you have read;
If you have any problems understanding the policies or using the templates and correct user warnings, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Thanks. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:19, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- This is going haywire. I have had admins suggesting that if I'm not sure about the speedy criteria or can't find one of the standard speedy tags to fit take them to AfD as the speedy criteria are restricted. Now, if I do take something to AfD, I have you telling me I shouldn't. Any reason why? Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 15:27, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- What the other admins have told you is quite correct. Wrongly creating a main page for a redirect can be tagged for G6 'Houskeeping'. It doesn't need to gum up the AfD process. If you do al the reading I've listed, you'll be OK - but please come over to my tp for advice when you need it, I'll probably miss your replies here. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 16:21, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

I just wanted to let you know that I declined the speedy you suggested on Martin Heydt as I turned up significant news coverage including drug charges. I've updated the article. If you feel it still needs to be deleted I'd suggest taking it to AfD, but it seems there are plenty of sources about the subject that could still be added. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:53, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I searched for news on the subject and found none. Also, the refs provided more info on Worms Way, rather than the CEO, so I thought it should be speedied. Anyways, will think about AfD later. Regards, Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 15:57, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello Avenue X at Cicero. I am just letting you know - again - that I have deleted the page Sarah Hutton Kent as G3: Vandalism (a blatantly clear case), Not A7 as you tagged it. Please consider taking a short break from tagging new pages until you have read and fully understood the instructions at WP:NPP Thank you. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:58, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I've had autobiographies deleted as A7 (most recent one being Christopher james santos); I don't know how this wasn't A7. The subject had written an essay about herself, so, she being non-notable, I tagged it A7. Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 15:01, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- If you had read the 'essay' you would have seen that the content was utter bullshit, i.e. pre-teen or addolescent vandalism. We have to nip this kind of thing in the bud. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:12, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- Just dropping by, Kudpung is correct. This sort of material can be much more harmful than the ordinary a7, and if it is marked with an G3 tag, we will make sure to get it deleted especially quickly. Whats needed is to actually look at the contents, and consider, to avoid making errors in either direction. DGG ( talk ) 17:52, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

New Page Patrolling
I'm just letting you know that I've deleted PotatoSpielen as a blatant hoax and closed the AfD. I mean, 'potatospielen' - surely we all know that the German word for potato is not and never was, anything like 'potato' (Kartoffel) --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:54, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- A further check on the user would have revealed that they are a persistent vandal. I've blocked them for 48 hours. Probably a kid. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:00, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
too soon
Please do not mark a page for speedy deletion as no content when it is only 3 minutes old, as you did for Innovation in Software Testing As WP:CSD says,
Consensus has developed that in most cases articles should not be tagged for deletion under this criterion moments after creation as the creator may be actively working on the content; though there is no set time requirement, a ten-minute delay before tagging under this criterion is suggested as good practice. Please do not mark the page as patrolled prior to that suitable delay passing, so that the wait does not result in the article escaping review at a later time.
I removed the notice entirely, because we do not want to discourage a good faith contributor. The growth–even the survival–of Wikipedia depends upon encouraging new contributors. That said, I'm aware that the title of the article might indicate material that should preferably be merged, and I have advised the author to consider adding the information to existing articles. DGG ( talk ) 17:46, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah. Sorry I marked it too soon, but I only marked it because I had earlier marked a sleuth of articles on the same topic, which were speedied. Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 05:49, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
