User TeX

[edit]

If anyone is monitoring this talk page, this "user" created Category:User tex and Category:User tex-N with incorrect text (for some reason using the nonsense word "Tennet" instead of "TeX"). When {{#babel:…|TeX}} is used on a user page, one gets a similar message (userbox with "Tennet" in the text):

Babel user information
TeXThis Wikipedian is a TeX user.
Users by language

Which looks nothing like the one shown at Template:User TeX:

TeXThis Wikipedian is a TeX user.

I have no idea where this reference to "Tennet" is coming from (in the "#babel" userbox, I mean), so I'm not sure how to fix it. Similarly, I'm not sure why the extension is not "respecting" the already-created template. - dcljr (talk) 14:48, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK, now I've created Template:User tex-0 and specifically called that via {{#babel:tex-0}}, which obviously "should" work (i.e., use the existing template instead of the auto-generated "Tennet" version). But as you can see.... - dcljr (talk) 15:12, 25 February 2012 (UTC) {{#babel:tex-0}}[reply]

Tennet is not a nonsense word; it refers to the Tennet language. The Babel extension is set up so that when a code refers to a language, it displays the language regardless of existing templates. See the relevant bug 34680: Babel doesn't distinguish between lower and upper case. SPQRobin (talk) 16:47, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed in r112402: lowercase code gives precedence to built-in boxes, codes with one or more uppercase letters give precedence to existing templates. It will hopefully be deployed soon. SPQRobin (talk) 17:38, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I knew about the upper-/lower-case thing (although, obviously I didn't get the precedence details right). I didn't notice that Tennet was a language because Tennet was being redirected to TenneT, a Dutch company name. I'll fix that, and get Template:User tex-0 deleted. - dcljr (talk) 02:29, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've just blocked this bot for mass-creating incorrectly capitalised categories and categories without parent categories. I'll shortly be posting some bugs at Bugzilla. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 09:16, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've just found out that the categories without parent categories problem can be solved by editing MediaWiki:babel-autocreate-text-main, which I will do now and see if I can figure out how it works. However, the incorrect capitalisation is the main problem, I think, so I think the bot should stay blocked until that issue is resolved as well. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 09:57, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
