merges
Hello, I understand that Expulsion of Indians from Burma in 1962 has been merged to Burmese Indians. In such case we keep the edit history for GFDL reasons. The CSD G6 is for history merges or blocked moves, but it would then rather be the target that needs to be temporarily deleted. If on the other hand I misunderstood the situation, let me know.--Tikiwont (talk) 13:52, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for that, I picked up on the page blanking edit here from SQL. Understand now the reason for keeping the edit history as it was a merge not a G6 issue... Best wishes, --Badgernet Talk 14:01, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I've then advised the blanking user as well. Actually I learned something as well, as I didn't even know about User:SQL/Blanked. --Tikiwont (talk) 14:10, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your corrections to my typing. I hope that you find my additions useful. This is one of those articles where I think that a larger number of photos is helpful, otherwise you are giving a lot of information with no sources. If I was sure it was OK on copyright, I would also post the photo of the Quarry Pool information notice board. Doing the walk (from where I stay in Christchurch) this year I found the improvements in the paths very helpful. I think it was only a year ago that I had difficulties finding the way from Wick. We must see if we can make the Christchurch Harbour article as informative. Robert of Ramsor (talk) 00:40, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Coordinates
Hi - is there any advantage in moving co-ordinates from the {{Infobox UK place}} template to a separate coord template, such as here? The coordinates seemed to work before, and had the advantage that it produced a localised map in the info box, which is now missing. — Tivedshambo (t/c) 11:30, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Tivedshambo, I was attempting to get the places to show up on Google Earth as described here. There is a display clash if both sets of coords remain...is there a better way of achieving this do you know? as I agree the localised map is valuable, Regards, --Badgernet Talk 11:55, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- I haven't got Google Earth on my office PC, so I'll have to check it tonight, but the entry for Tywyn already appears on Google Maps [1], and I would assume they use the same database. {{Infobox UK place}} calls {{coord}} directly from within the template, so it should work the same way. — Tivedshambo (t/c) 12:30, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- I notice Aberystwyth shows up on Google Earth and contains both the infobox lat/long coords plus the hidden comment <!--{{coord|52|25|N|4|04|W|region:GB_type:city|display=title}}-->, maybe that's the answer ?, --Badgernet Talk 12:41, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Dropping the leading zero on the longitude (here) seems to have removed the display problem, will reinstate the other earlier localised maps affected right now. I'll leave the coord template in place for a while to see if GE picks these pages up. Many thanks, --Badgernet Talk 12:57, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Good find - it's worth trying. — Tivedshambo (t/c) 12:58, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Flag of wales
{{Gwynedd}} why are you readding this flag. WP:ICONDECORATION is clear here .Gnevin (talk) 10:13, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

- So your saying Wikipedia:Other stuff exists. Hardly a great argument , this sort of usage is decreasing on wiki Gnevin (talk) 10:31, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not arguing (and personally don't mind either way if a tiny flag pic stays or goes), my opinion is that it looks better with. Furthermore my take on the essay Wikipedia:Other stuff exists is that it discusses the reasons to keep, delete, or create a particular article or policy, not whether a minor graphical embellishment should be allowed or not. Badgernet ₪ 16:45, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- So if i remove it you will not re-add it ? Gnevin (talk) 08:55, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure about that, as I've already said my opinion is that it looks better with. If you want to make an issue of it under ICONDECORATION and remove it then that's up to you, but I don't agree this usage is pertinent to that "rule". Also it doesn't seem to infringe MOS:FLAG. Thanks, Badgernet ₪ 14:10, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

MY article was marked for speedy deletion
I'm a student at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN, and I am writing a Wikipedia article on 7th Street Storage for an assignment. I cited the Community Reporter, a local paper here in St. Paul, so I don't know why it got marked for speedy deletion. 7thstreetstorage (talk) 16:57, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the page User:7thstreetstorage seems to be blatant advertising. An admin will be along soon to agree or decline, have a look here, Best wishes, Badgernet ₪ 17:05, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm working on writing it in a more neutral way, is there a place where I can edit an article and see what it looks like without having it actually be up for others to see? 7thstreetstorage (talk) 17:37, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, it has been moved to a sandbox here - User:7thstreetstorage/sandbox. See wp:coi for further info about creating articles which serve solely to promote their subject; and all articles should contain useful information written as if from a neutral point of view (wp:npov) to avoid further CSD's :-), Best wishes Badgernet ₪ 10:34, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

How can I lock down my user-page??
Thank you for reverting the vandalism to my user page User:WickerGuy, done by someone at the University of Dundee. Aside from the fact that I'm wondering how you caught it, is there a way I can lock my user-page? Thanks.--WickerGuy (talk) 15:06, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, it was "caught" on a WP:RCP session earlier :-), page protection is handled by Admins over at WP:RPP, drop by to check it out, though they only tend to protect pages with endemic vandalism problems. This Admin has previously semiprotected my userpage for a week, maybe they could be contacted again if problems reoccur. Besties, Badgernet ₪ 15:22, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
