Use of external links in articles
[edit]Hello, BellyUp2020. I would like to ask you to please refrain from integrating external links into articles as if they were internal links (wikilinks). External links should only be used in:
- The 'external links' section above the 'references' section, used for a few relevant links like the official site and other non-spam such as data or info.
- Infoboxes in the official site parameter or any other parameters that require an external link
- Other very rare cases, such as in tables and other templates
Excessive and integrated external links are considered spam. If an article for something is not available, do not substitute the wikilink for an external link. Instead, leave the link as a red link and create a page (or wait for someone else to create a page) that will link it, or do not link it at all. If you have any questions, just let me know. BenchWarmers moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, BenchWarmers, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. The article CaughtOffside has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Does not appear to meet our notability guidelines - I could find no significant coverage about the website or its impact on the field of football journalism in independent, reliable sources.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. firefly ( t · c ) 12:45, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
