The article refers to a person. Writing their last name with a capital letter seems to be the right thing to do. Please explain in detail why it should be moved back. - Mgm|(talk) 13:10, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

  • Missing the capital letter of a last name is quite a common mistake, so having the redirect in place is actually quite useful. Also, deleting the page does not open up disk space, so deleting it seems to offer little advantages. I won't delete it, but I won't stop anyone else from doing so.

The first two times I came across it, you tagged it with the statement that Ferdinand Stock should be moved back there and that a history move was to be made. Please make sure you stick the right tag on to avoid confusion. Write a personal speedy tag if you have to. - Mgm|(talk) 13:30, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Explained it on the talk page from MacGyverMagic. I didn't see that Mgm is the same person as User:MacGyverMagic is. --Ben Ben (talk) 13:38, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
  • Thanks for noting the faulty link in my talk page header. It seems to have been there for a long time. No one noticed before, though. Now fixed it. - Mgm|(talk) 13:40, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Please be nice to the newbies

And let 'me know what they did wrong (e.g. User talk:76.244.147.137.) (I was about to revert myself, but you beat me to it.) Thanks Gerardw (talk) 02:29, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Ben Ben …

Before we get into a revert war over this, please allow me to remind you that I am the author and (so far) the only editor who has contributed to the documentation for {{TV Guide person}} … I am attempting to make the templates used by this boilerplate consistent in the formatting of their examples … I saw the linking of the URL in the documentation for Some Other Template, and decided to retrofit the ones on my current OCD list. :-)

Happy Editing! — 138.88.91.205 (talk · contribs) 16:59, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

P.S. I forgot to mention that with the TfD that killed {{Selected filmography}}, there were some redlinks that I was correcting as well … I guess that was also mistaken for vandalism. — 138.88.91.205 (talk) 17:04, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
I have to apologize, as you wrote I had mistaken your changes. Sorry, i'm not in templates.--Ben Ben (talk) 17:09, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

SPI cases

When filing a second (or subsequent) case at SPI for a user, you must NOT delete the {{SPIarchive notice}} line from the top of the case. Mayalld (talk) 15:18, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

I had watched for two days, but the case wasn't shown under Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations. After I had deleted the {{SPIarchive notice}}, it was shown. Mysteriously, it's still shown after your revert! Bug, X-Files? --Ben Ben (talk) 15:39, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Re: Manmohan Singh

You need to be careful while leaving messages at someone's talkpage. Firstly, Panjab University redirects to Panjab University, Chandigarh. So the question of me mixing it up does not arise. Secondly, refer to this and this edit. So, why am I being lectured for misspelling Panjab University? Thirdly, the case of one being confused between these three universities does not arise because a) Panjab University has only one campus - in Chandigarh. b) University of the Punjab is in Pakistan. c) Punjabi University has a distinctive name (note Panjab is a region and Punjabi is a language) and has no affiliation with Panjab University. So, when some says Manmohan Singh graduated from Panjab University, it is pretty obvious he graduated from the one in Chandigarh. That said, this is a very small issue. Some people have a habit of making a big issue out of a small one for the sake of arguing and unfortunately for you, I'm not one of them. --Nosedown (talk) 17:52, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

re: your edits to Armorial of the Communes of Nord 3

I see you rearranged the 'external links' and 'references' sections. Is there a specific standard, 'cause I haven't been following one. (Sigh!)

Also, you changed the 'self-referencing' line. Is that a problem? It just shows bold and seemed appropriate to me (as well as allowing simple cut and paste <g>). I'm still relatively newish at this whole wiki editing thing.

WP:CSD tag

Not a huge deal given the tag in question, but in terms of Dahtdard, just remember that all the criteria labelled "A" (such as WP:CSD#A1) technically refer to articles, not redirects. There are criteria for those, such as WP:CSD#R3. ~ Amory (utc) 17:32, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

2009 in spaceflight (July–December)‎‎

In a recent WP:WCW edit to 2009 in spaceflight (July–December)‎‎, you removed the closing braces of a template, thereby introducing a syntax error into the article. I'm not sure what you were trying to fix, but if it was the fact the there were two sets of closing braces together, this was correct as the templates were nested. Please could you be careful if encountering other pages that form part of the timeline of spaceflight, as many have similar syntax. Thanks. --GW 15:02, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Dear Mr. Ben, Hope U r doing very well. As I had edited the facts regarding Tarawih, pls note that the fact was obtained from a source that describes in the light of Hadith (The second most important religious book of Islam). Senate elections

Why did you hide the Senate composition tables????—Markles 01:05, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

I did it because of this.--Ben Ben (talk) 01:09, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
  • OK. I see your point, but I don't see how the tables were hurt. They still displayed correctly and without them, there's a heading without a section. Please revert them, if it's not too much trouble. I don't see exactly how the missing templates affect the tables, but if you show me what needs correcting, I'll try to get to it. Thanks.—Markles 01:21, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi Markles, the templates are the Colour Key for the tables. Without them the tables are 'grey in grey', without any information. See this and compare it with a table with working Colour Key: United States Senate elections, 1864.--Ben Ben (talk) 05:18, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
  • I'm sorry, but I just don't see the greys. I see a lovely green and dark red. Perhaps we're using different skins? I'm using Vector, but I've applied it to Modern and Monobook without any problems either.—Markles 13:50, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
  • AH! I found the problem. Someone put } instead of }}. Also the templates needed to be redirected, which I've now done. Next time, I think the problem could have been fixed or left as-is-with-a-request-to-fix instead of selectively hiding all of a section without its heading.—Markles 14:26, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Oh no! It's my browser, Opera. It shows me the old version with the false syntax for the colour templates '{{...}' without interpreting them. Opera is known for being very strict with faulty code. I should have remembered that, but I didn't. See what I have seen. Tested it with IE now, shows colours as well as with the false as with your corrected code. So, for a discussion where both disputants had seen different screens without knowing that, this was a really civilized one, thanks to you.--Ben Ben (talk) 17:27, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Please let me know when I can let delete the screenshot. --Ben Ben (talk) 20:45, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi. What do you mean by "other tools can use them as neutral edit summaries" [7]? Your edit removed them from the http://toolserver.org/~sk/cw/enwiki/priority_all.htm description making it more difficult for me so see which lists I have to load on my AWB bot and automatically fix the problems. -- Magioladitis (talk) 09:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi, the tool I work with is WikiCleaner. It uses the head_enwiki text from the translation page for its edit summaries. For example please see the summary of one of my old edits:[8]
(WikiCleaner 0.99 - Square brackets not correct begin (AWB assisted, partial BOT) - Reference before punctuation (partial AWB) (Detection by Wikipedia:WCW))
That gives missleading informations about the tools used for the edit (AWB, bots aso.). That's why I have moved them from the head_enwiki to the desc_enwiki part. The information about which tool could solve what error is temporary by nature, so it shouldn't be written "hard wired" in the error headings.
Is the error heading text the only information source you can use for AWB, no other way?
--Ben Ben (talk) 10:29, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

I have self-notes too but of course it's easier just to spot them on the checkwiki. Anyway, thanks fr the answer. No reason to revert. Edit summary is more important on this one. -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:04, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Freut mich, daß wir uns einigen konnten. Have you ever thought about linking your self-notes about AWB to the Check Wikipedia page? They are impressive. --Ben Ben (talk) 11:49, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Speedy tagging

Hi. A comment about a couple of your speedy tags: the articles needed to go, but there were better tags to use. I didn't see any reason to consider Lil Wodie a hoax (which I take to mean intent to deceive): it was just a hopeful but not yet notable rapper. {{db-band}} would certainly be right for someone just producing a first mixtape. And for L.I.B.A.D(Lil Wodie Mixtape), WP:CSD#A1 Article lacking sufficient context to identify the subject wasn't right, because the subject was clear: it was a (non-notable) mixtape. As LilWodie himself was being speedied, WP:CSD#A9 was the right one here. These may seem niggling distinctions, but it's important to get the right speedy tag, so that the newbie author gets the right message about why his article is being deleted, and because if you can't find a speedy tag that fits, it is a good indication that the article may not be speediable and may need to go to PROD or AfD. There is good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Keep up the good work: New Page Patrol needs all the eyes it can get. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:09, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi. First your comment wasn't niggling. Sometimes I have a problem going from the impuls "this shouldn't be here" to a clear rationale. Is it appropriate to change a CSD, say after 10 minutes from Ax to Ay? Regards, --Ben Ben (talk) 20:30, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
PS: Actually I have been working mostly on WP:CHECKWIKI, where I sometimes fall over new articles that are questionable.
Yes, it's perfectly OK to change one speedy tag for another if you have second thoughts about which is appropriate, but best to get it right first time. Read WP:CSD carefully, and check back with it if in doubt. Another comment about Benjamin Raphael Hawkey just now: WP:CSD#G4 only applies if the previous deletion was by a deletion discussion such as AfD - the point being to save going through another AfD for something which is presumably not a clear-cut speedy. If the previous deletion was a speedy and, as in this case, the same speedy reason applies ({{db-person}}) just tag it with the same speedy again. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:55, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

How was my post vandalism to the Jonah page?

Discussion

It is obviously incorrect, you only have to view other wikipedia pages to know this. I was in the process of correcting this page. If you would like to verify, please view the wikipedia page on sperm whales and view their teeth. Or view animal planet, or discovery, or any number of thousands of other publications. I have hundreds of citations as I have studied sperm whales extensively. Would you like references?

Respectfully,

Backedupinfo 06:40, 7 May 2011 (UTC)Backedupinfo

How about the other wikipedia page?!?!!?! sperm whales Or are you saying wikipedia is not reliable? If you would rather:

“Sperm whales with severely mangled jaws have been seen in perfect health, apparently catching food just fine without the complete use of their teeth.” http://www.oceanicresearch.org/education/wonders/spermwhales.htm *****Showing they don't chew or tear up their food*****

“….however, because of the rapidity of the flensing operations and the need to gather other biological data, we were able to collect samples of cephalopod beaks from only 157 stomachs. All stomachs contained at least a few cephalopod beaks. The number of beaks collected from each stomach ranged from 1 to 57, and the total number of beaks was 2060 (not including beaks from whole specimens, crowns, and buccal masses). All of the remains collected represent a minimum of 1700 individual cephalopods.” http://spo.nwr.noaa.gov/tr83opt.pdf U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service *****Showing they don't chew or tear up their food*****

“After the whole bodies and heads were identified, the beaks were removed and compared with other beaks in the samples.” .” http://spo.nwr.noaa.gov/tr83opt.pdf U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service *****Showing they don't chew or tear up their food*****

“They feed on several species, in particular giant squid, octopuses, and demersal rays. The white scars often seen on the bodies of Sperm Whales are believed to be caused by squid.” http://www.whale-images.com/info/sperm-whale-facts.htm *******Showing they eat giant squid, octopuses, and demersal rays*****

You seem ready instantly to change any edits of real information showing almost ENTIRELY linked to other wikipedia pages. Are you unhappy with the post or something? Please, tell me.

Backedupinfo 07:09, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

Are you serious? Do you even have any clue what you were changing? Nice. No, the wikipedia page states that "there is no currently known sea creature that could swallow a grown man whole" and that "The sperm whale, on the other hand, has "a small mouth... Its food is torn to pieces before being swallowed,"

The funny thing is that it even links to the sperm whale page which obviously shows this to be incorrect!

--Backedupinfo 07:19, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

Do you have a response or was it that you are just not happy with facts?

--Backedupinfo 07:25, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

Ok then, if I correct the information on that page are you going to revert it yet again?

--Backedupinfo 07:34, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

Are you a little kid? Do you not like facts? I left in the REAL facts about how it would be difficult if not relatively impossible for a human to breathe without air or to withstand the heat because those are ACTUAL facts. Maybe you have a religious reason for your feelings on this? I don't, I merely want to correct obvious mistakes about an animal I have studied for years and know well.

--Backedupinfo 07:54, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

I did source my info, with another wikipedia page, if that is not good enough, I have THOUSANDS more, from Harvard, Princeton, the N.O.A.A, whales.org, bbc.org, nal.usda.gov, oceanicresearch.org, marinemammalcenter.org, The Oxford Journal, National Geographic, and many many more. I left you only a few. I don't think you realize that I have literally worked for years studying this animal. Please actually read the above information that I posted.

--Backedupinfo 08:09, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

And honestly were you able to read about their teeth?!?! They don't have upper teeth!!! They don't chew or tear up their food!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs) 08:22, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

You mean quotes with links to National publications from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Oceanic Research.org, and several others aren't specific enough? LOL You are terrible at arguing! Seriously what is your purpose for DISTORTING FACTS?

--Backedupinfo 08:18, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

  • Again, please be more specific - a generic link to bbc.org etc. is not useful as a reference. You need to provide a full citation. (And the citation must actually support your claim that a sperm whale could swallow a human-sized prey whole without shredding it to bits.) - Mike Rosoft (talk) 08:25, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
  • Backedupinfo, where is your source that could prove your repeated deletion of the sentence ...there is no currently known sea creature that could swallow a grown man whole...? A man is not a mollusc.--Ben Ben (talk) 08:33, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

“However, there are 65 species of toothed whale, including the sperm whale, and they are known to eat very large creatures whole.” http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A471548

That is what the article from the N.O.A.A. states! Is the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the National Marine Fisheries Service not good enough for you? Did you even read it? I could sit and play the revert, revert war thing with you too and use alternate accounts just like you. But I really don't want to play that game. It is sad that you have some sort of an agenda here. Why not deal in facts, I have presented several.

“The throat is capacious enough to give passage to the body of a man; in this respect presenting a strong contrast with the contracted gullet of the Greenland whale” http://pds.lib.harvard.edu/pds/view/14343622?n=45&imagesize=1200&jp2Res=.25&printThumbnails=no

Is Harvard good enough for you?

Or how about the whole chewing and tearing of food,...

“Sperm Whales have 20-26 pairs of cone-shaped teeth in their lower jaw. Each tooth can weigh as much as one kilogram. The reason for the existence of the teeth is not known for certain. It is believed that they are not necessary for feeding on squid. The current scientific consensus is that the teeth may be used for aggression between males of the same species.” http://www.whale-images.com/info/sperm-whale-facts.htm

Now please, I have shown many facts, now show me some of your own.

--Backedupinfo 08:42, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

And seriously, stop logging out, and logging in another account. That is annoying. It is painfully obvious.

--Backedupinfo 08:52, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

However I must admit, you have to be a rather intelligent individual to be able to navigate two accounts how you have. I am rather impressed. Honestly maybe you could teach me a few things about how to navigate this site? I don't know how to watch pages or even look up a user again. I literally just learned how to do the signature and the reverting thing LOL. I know a bit about things in the Ocean, math, physics, but not really wiki lol. If you have some tips for me, I would appreciate it. Truly I am not trying to make an enemy, I just don't like seeing info on my favorite, beloved whale incorrect. I almost got to swim with one once, they truly are normally not very aggressive to people, unless provoked and are more like the Baleen whales in that regard.

http://www.whale-images.com/info/sperm-whale-facts.htm
  • They have teeth, and?

So all the other references then are fake because you don't want to believe one that is an eye witness testimony? It's not in the fiction section I assure you. But if you don't like that one it's ok. Also have you studied the anatomy of a sperm whale? I don't know how to post pictures in chat but I have diagrams you could view if you like? And what is the part about "They have teeth, and?" I think the part about the teeth is spelled out clearly, they can't chew or tear things up like that, it would require an upper pallet of at least a few teeth.

Are you having trouble with the other links then? I have even more. But I am beginning to think this has little to do with facts for you considering your comments.

The links I have provided should be enough though honestly. Especially considering the NOAA report about finding whole specimens with 11.0, 12.0 and 12.5 LRL's which is Lower Rostral Length. That report was actually prepared for a congressional hearing. Also the BBC report should be enough. Also did you know you can just type into Google "sperm whale vs Giant Squid" and view videos and see what Discovery Channel made to represent what they think an actual attack looks like? There is no known footage that I have ever seen of a real attack considering they normally happen at about 1000m down LOL.

That is actually how we originally were able to study the best/freshest Giant Squid and Colossal squid was from the bellies of the sperm whale. They used to cut them open by the hundreds and documentation is actually easy to find in marine biology. Unfortunately a few countries still hunt them for 'research' and they have tons of documentation as well.

--Backedupinfo 09:37, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

Also I have asked for your documentation saying they can't. Do you have any other than a link not showing an actual quote. And also from a guy that isn't even a marine biologist he just is a director which requires completely different degrees and qualifications having nothing to do with Cetology. But honestly I would like to see his quote and not a generic link to a museum or aquarium's home page.

--Backedupinfo 09:52, 7 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backedupinfo (talkcontribs)

  • Man, your constantly insisting on your point is crossing a thin line. I have commented your sources. I would suggest that you carry your point to Talk:Sperm whale. There, unlike here, you will have a chance to be read by people that are interested in whales. --Ben Ben (talk) 10:14, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

I still would like to have an open dialog about this with you. I apologize, but I do not feel that comments like "They have teeth, and?" is commenting on the vast amount of facts I have presented. I do not feel that you have adequately reviewed the information presented and I feel you are letting personal bias intervene. You would not comment on any of the other links, quotes, or information I have presented in any sort of a discussion format. The page is incorrect as you can tell by the sperm whales page and at least the part about tearing up their food should be corrected if you can't agree on them swallowing their prey. The references for the part about them not having a large enough mouth for that are generic and lead to home pages for the museum and an aquarium and are not links to where a quote can be viewed. You will not provide any alternative references, yet will continually not recognize any of mine except the only one you feel is not good enough. I can tell you feel very strongly on this subject. I am tired, I will check again tomorrow, on my account. Please re-review this information and also provide adequate references of your own. If you have not, I will be forced to reference this page to higher authorities for review.

Not sure why it's such a target for vandalism relative to other new school articles. I had a reference about the principal and an explanation of why it's affiliated with a school district yet a charter high school. (Go to their website and look closely at the background image for pulldowns in the navbar – it's the logo of the Alhambra ESD! Also read the third page of their November newsletter, which has news from the school district, not the high school.)

Pauline Maier page - help the newbie

thanks for the help on the "Pauline Maier" page. This is my first attempt at expanding a stub of a bio that featured one book of the author from one publisher from 2005, with a link to the publisher's page. My kids gave me her 'Ratification' for Christmas, and I've been trying to do a spectacular career some justice more than that. (I'm 60+)

  • Maybe you can help me.

Last night and again this morning, I tried to add "George Washington Book Prize nomination for 2011." alongside the 'hardback editions', 'Ratification' first line. It did not show on the 'preview page', but on saving, it shows as saved in my 'edit' code but it still does not show on the page. As I closed out last night, it seems I had opened the 'pauline maier' page more than once, or opened it once, and using the internet explorer to look elsewhere online, came back to it in that second launch, making a second access to the 'pauline maier' page. Does that automatically block me from editing? If so, how is that unblocked? TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 09:29, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello, you simply forgot to close a <ref> with </ref>. Therefore the text "George Washington Book Prize nomination for 2011." was shown down in the references. Please check my edit closely, I'm not sure if I have gotten your references.--Ben Ben (talk) 09:57, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
that did it. thanks. sorry to panic. this is way harder than it once seemed. not just the coding. writing in a balanced encyclopedic fashion is horrifically demanding as a genre. I keep rewriting my own stuff, and then recasting my rewrites to try to make a coherent article. And then I keep discovering more facets to the business, like confidentiality concerns of living subjects (duh). My admiration for wiki editors who can stick with it has just soared. I Undid an Edit You Made

As the subject says, I found an edit with over -2,800 character difference, so when I checked it out you deleted a huge chunk of the Total Drama: Revenge of the Island page, so I undid it because I was pretty sure that it was simply vandalism. However, checking your edit history showed that you are a serious editor, so I'm wondering: Was that a mistake? Or was there a legitimate reason to delete all those paragraphs? Hi. I don't necessarily disagree with the content of this edit, but the edit summary is really not a propos. Whether the subject is German or Uzbek or American is not relevant--what matters is whether the edits are verified, relevant, etc. Now, I agree that a list of things dubbed by the guy is not relevant, and so I will revert the editor who reverted you. But please keep in mind that notability is not bound to nationality. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 18:32, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for reverting the IP-User and for your message. About my English nationalistic edit comment: I have tried to explain it to the user on the article's talk page a few days ago: [15]. I suspect he didn't get it. To satisfy my own curiosity: Were you aware that I'm German when you wrote your message? --Ben Ben (talk) 19:50, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Hey, yes, I saw your user page. But on Wikipedia, questions of audience really don't pertain--it's unlikely that many English or American readers will care for Bougainville (novel) (it's translated in German, though), but it's an encyclopedic topic nonetheless. The user in question strikes me as a fan, and fans aren't always receptive audiences. All the best, Drmies (talk) 20:51, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of The Isotopes

Hey Ben Ben, I was hoping you would consider undeleting "The Isotopes" article. I realized I failed to comply with section A7 and I would like a chance to fix the article to meet the criteria. Thanks and I hope you reconsider. Cleitch (talk) 20:01, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Cleitch

Hi, I'm the user who has requested the deletion of your article, but only admins can accomplish a deletion, see WP:DEL#PROCESSES. Same is for undeleting. In your case, Bearcat is your man. But before you ask him, I would recommend to check how your local amateur sports team meets the criteras for Wikipedia:Notability (sports). Greets --Ben Ben (talk) 20:50, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

I am inviting you to my talk page on a article I had seen your name in the history of and would hope that you have time to stop and look at the article that we as a group have edited and make any comments or advice you may have for us so that we can make this a featured article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lorenegenidy (talkcontribs) 19:21, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, but my edit in your article was only correcting a syntax error. That I had to read the article about Contemporary worship music to understand what it is also shows that I'm not an eligible editor for your article.--Ben Ben (talk) 17:36, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Rashtra Sant Shyam ji Parashar

Hello Ben Ben. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Rashtra Sant Shyam ji Parashar, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Salvio Let's talk about it! 11:48, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your notice. Have opened an AfD discussion.--Ben Ben (talk) 12:19, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Deleted Page: Tomasz Kaczorowski

Hi Ben,

Unfortunately, I haven't manage to post a second comment to your speedy deletion on Tomasz Kaczorowski's page, as it has been removed. Thanks for sending me a link for an academic notability guidelines. I've read it and I strongly believe dr Tomasz Kaczorowski falls under criterion no 2. by being awarded by Young Scientist Award. While it is not as reckognizable as Nobel Prize, this is still a prestiguous, national-level award. My position about a significance of his biography in comparison to others still holds. I wouldn't agree that 3rd league football player's biography is more significant than a researcher's one, especially of the one working in two globally-reckognizable scientific institutions and already having professional publications on his account.

Thanks in advance for response. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwiezik (talkcontribs) 21:24, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, it's a Young Scientist Award, that's not a fully one. For your repeated mentioned 3rd class footballers, I don't like articles about them, too. You can add wannabee rappers and wrestlers, also. But I have to accept the guidelines about Wikipedia:Notability and the consensus WP:AFDP.--Ben Ben (talk) 08:08, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Square brackets not correct begin

Ben

What does this statement mean? "Square brackets not correct begin" You have made in on several Arkansas Regimental Histories. I have a pattern that I use to assemble these so if I have something wrong on the pattern, I need to fix it. Thanks. Aleutian06 (talk) 15:47, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Hello, you had weblinks in your articles with an uneven count of brackets [...]].[17] [18] Weblinks need only one pair of brackets, so the statement in the script I'm working with should be "Square brackets not correct end". I'll ask the script author for that.--Ben Ben (talk) 16:01, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
I am still not absolutely certian what to fix, but if you would be so kind as to scrub this link in my userbox, then I won't keep making the same mistake. Thanks. User:Damon.cluck/Arkansas Confederate Infantry Unit Histories. Aleutian06 (talk) 16:14, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Done. [19] Together with a few other minor changes. Your link Battle of Dalton leeds to a disambiguation page that I couldn't solve. There are two battles and one operation listed, but not one date fits.--Ben Ben (talk) 16:39, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Have fixed your cite web templates. This template needs "title= x" as a required parameter. See Template:Cite web.--Ben Ben (talk) 16:57, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I removed your speedy A7, because a geographical place does not fall under the scope of A7. Let's give the author some time to possibly add content to the page, and if nothing happens after a day or so, we can delete per A3.--EdwardZhao (talk) 17:17, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your notice. Of course you are right with the geogr. place. I hope the link to the .tl domain stays away. When the article only consisted of this link it was my reason for the CSD.--Ben Ben (talk) 18:39, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

About Gianvito Martino

Dear Ben Ben, many thanks for your thoughtful suggestion. I would like you to notice that that Gianvito Martino's name is listed in page 2 in the old website I added on the page, and that now you can easily find him writing "Gianvito Martino"; however, I changed the link with the PubMed website, in which you can also find some of Gianvito Martino's scientific articles. Moreover it is clearly written that this page about an Italian scientist is a stub and should be improved: for this reason let's improve Wikipedia all togheter instead of deleting pages without a clear reason to do that, all the best! Can you explain what "abandoned" means in the context of the PROD on Stardust Award for Best Comedy/Romance Actor? The article was recently created, so I don't think that's the reference? Maury Markowitz (talk) 15:07, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, the article was created a week ago and consists only of an empty table. The author was active after that date but didn't do anything to improve the article. That is what I call "abandoned". A merge is suggested, but - there is nothing to merge assumed that "Aj" is a typo, or is that really a name?.--Ben Ben (talk) 15:49, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
I don't know either, but PROD is not the right tool in this case, for sure. PROD is for things that are "obviously wrong" - copyvio, nonsense articles, etc. In this case the article is about a real thing, so it simply doesn't fall into that category. Don't get me wrong, the article is pants, but PROD is the wrong solution. Maury Markowitz (talk) 18:04, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Tried to remove my PROD but you have been faster than me. You are right, the article is poor (linked), but thats not a reason to delete it.--Ben Ben (talk) 18:20, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Ben Ben. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Nervosia, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. — Scientizzle 19:26, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

You are writing a novel. This is not the place to publish it, because this is an encyclopedia. Try to understand what Wikipedia is not - WP:NOT explains it. There are free places on the web for novelists to publish, you can search one per google. --Ben Ben (talk) 12:48, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Thanks for the edits. Since the position of the prime minister (through elections) was really created after the 1990 people's movement and since we do not have enough data of PM's before that as you can see, I suggest hiding the 1st table somehow. Can you do that? Maintain it just as a section that can be looked after a click. Hope its clear. DBhuwanSurfer (talk) 02:12, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, don't worry about fixing any minor errors in the various lists of shipwrecks in 1940. Once I've finished adding the rest of the ships from the Wrecksite database, I intend to give each and every section a thorough copy edit. Mjroots (talk) 20:27, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I appreciate that you upgraded the Article but what do they require another equal symbol on each end of the topics?--175.138.109.154 (talk) 10:35, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi, it's described here: WP:BODY. ... Heading 1 (=Heading 1=) is automatically generated as the title of the article, and is never appropriate within the body of articles. Sections start at the second level (==Heading 2==), with subsections at the third level (===Heading 3===), and additional levels of subsections at the fourth level (====Heading 4====), fifth level, and sixth level. ...--Ben Ben (talk) 10:53, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
I understand about "Heading 1" position in the article as the title but you lost me about the rest there. Anyway, thanks for the explanation.--175.138.109.154 (talk) 10:57, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
The rest was to keep the structure of the article the author intended. As I moved L1→L2 I also had to move L2→L3 and L3→L4 aso. [20].--Ben Ben (talk) 11:04, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Ben Ben, in WMMT, you removed the opening square brackets from "[[owned and operated station", which clearly had been intended to be an article link. (Actually, "owned-and-operated station".) I've re-linkified it. --Chaswmsday (talk) 16:14, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for notifying me. It's WWMT and Owned-and-operated station is just a bit too US-centric for me, didn't know. You never stop learning.--Ben Ben (talk) 16:31, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
