Nomination of Joe Ironside for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Joe Ironside is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joe Ironside until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 14:53, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to start off your Wikipedia editing career with a deletion notice, but I'm afraid it doesn't look like Ironside quite fulfils our notability criteria for footballers just yet. He needs to have played for the first team in the regular league before he is eligible to have a Wikipedia article. It is possible that we could have an article on him now if he passed the general notability guideline, but there doesn't seem to be enough news coverage about him specifically yet, and it's quite rare for someone to get the kind of coverage necessary if they don't already play in a fully professional league. Let me know if you have any questions about this, and you might also like to check out WikiProject Football if you are interested in contributing to football-related articles on Wikipedia.
