I've never been welcomed. That makes me a saaaad panda.--BigCow 03:29, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello BigCow. I've added the {{wikibooks}} template to FF6. -- Bobdoe (Talk) 01:37, 13 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject CVG/FF

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you pretty much wrote the wikibook on FFVI, so maybe you'd be interested in joining the Wikipedia:WikiProject Computer and video games or the Wikipedia:WikiProject Final Fantasy. Incidentally, FFVI is currently a featured article candidate. Cheers! Jacoplane 23:25, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Hey there, BigCow. Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you enjoy being a Wikipedian and decide to stay! Here are a few good links for newcomers (or "oldcomers" for reference):

By the way, you should sign and date your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. Three tildes (~~~) produces just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

Great, just what we need around this place... more people complaining about never being officially welcomed. Happy now? No more sad pandas.. :) Cheers. --LV (Dark Mark) 21:02, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

-- regarding Chrono Trigger spoilers --

[edit]

Well, I'd welcome you, but maybe I'm a little late for that. ;D I've actually been around for awhile, but haven't bothered to create a username til now.

I think you're absolutely right: Marle and Frog's true names are spoilers (though Robo's doesn't reveal anything relevant to plot), and I think those info boxes should actually be dropped completely under the spoiler line. I've done this with Magus' as an example. In fact, using the End of Time picture of Gaspar in his article is also a slight spoiler, and I've considered editing that, too, though I didn't have a replacement picture.

Thanks for the welcome! ^_^

That's why, as I suggested, drop the info box below the spoiler warning. As you can see from the Cait Sith article, the info box isn't included under the spoiler warning (as evident in the code on the edit page), even if the information itself is physically displayed below the warning. It might not be readily obvious to some readers that it's a spoiler, and if it's not obvious to some, then it's not obvious at all. Like I said, take a look at how I've modified the page for Magus, and compare it to Cait Sith's. It's a small modification, but it can mean the world in clarity on what is and is not a spoiler. JanusZeal 19:04, 20 December 2005 (UTC) ....p.s. Cait Sith's real name is a spoiler to me, btw.  :([reply]

Wow...

[edit]

I've just gone through your Chrono Trigger Wikibook. As a huge fan of the game, seeing this up there makes me incredibly happy. Keep up the good work! --Firecaster 23:10, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who???

[edit]

poorly written at parts and awkward, sounds like an overtranslated philosopher

Yeah, that's myself (Italian philosopher) translating myslef (English philosopher). I wrote the hole f***ing article from a stub of two lines. All of it, every f***ing word it mine. This is the first time in my entire existence (38 years) on two different contintents, writing in two dfferent languages that I HVE EVER BEEN ACCUSED of poorly writing anything!!And who are you?? An undergraute student in Computer Science in the US. What the f+++ do you know about writing, philosophy or, even Computer Science for that matter. I have a BS in Computer Science from the US and I can tell you that your qualifications for judging anyone's writing are......non-existent. You have much to learn, kid.--Lacatosias 09:40, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Every article on here that achieves a modicum of popularity is going to be edited by someone who thinks it could be better. What's perfectly clear to the person who wrote something may be hard for someone else to get. My comment about the "overtranslated philosopher" probably was unnecessary, it's just that I often get the sense from some philosophical discussions of excessive wordiness. Complicated ideas require clear expression more than most. I'd be glad to discuss the changes, and there are changes which should be made, gramatically at the very least. Expressing interest in an article means more people want to make the knowledge accessible, not that your ideas are under attack.--BigCow 10:04, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ZsinjBot

[edit]

Done and done. Thanks for pointing this out. It was originally working off every inclusion of such a template that included "user" in the article name, this way IPs with template messages on their user pages would also get substituted. However, looking back on the logs, there were very few named user pages that had the template on them, hence making that effort insignificant and easy to skip over. Thanks again. --ZsinjTalk 17:35, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding to Bulbasaur, remember to use edit summaries. Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 08:18, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Substing...

[edit]

Sorry about that... I am currently on auto-pilot with substing (see my recent contributions). You do bring up a good point though -- I should probably steer away from Sandboxes and User pages of users, as these more than likely tend to be for, as you said "cut and paste purposes." Do note that subst:ing saves server load and prevents accidental blanking. See {{subst}}. Sorry for any inconvienance. Further questions, seek my talk page. (By the way, I am not a bot). — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 03:43, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question which template was that and which page? the templates that i have subst'ed have been used only on userpages and are supposed to be subst'ed pre WP:SUBST. thanks your responce will assisit me in fine tuning it so that the the proper pages are subst'ed and pages like yours are excluded. Thanks Betacommand 02:32, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

simple soultion please add <!--BetacommandBot Exclude--> to any page that you would like excluded in the future. (there are some users who warn others on their userpage not their talk page, so this should be a simple solution) Thanks Betacommand 02:53, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll look over it, and post a link at the Compendium forums to see if anyone else will comment too. Knowing the pervasive laziness around my site, probably no one will, but eh...oh well. --Zeality 18:08, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Couple replies came in. [1]. I've been on a whirlwind mission to fix Chrono series articles; just finished Chrono Cross.

I added that vandal's favorite website to the blocklist, and now he seems to be lashing out at the rest of Wikipedia. Thank you for trying to keep him under control. Do you know of anyway to scan all users from that netblock? He always comes from the same class-C address, but always a different IP. --Mdwyer 01:01, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know I shouldn't gloat, but it's all in good fun and I couldn't resist after finding that crow recipies website. Yuck. (And truth be told the obvious was continually denied by users with an emotional investment in this girl being real. Bizarre!) Brokethebank 01:49, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Retranslation

[edit]

I'd like to consider it 90% done. KWhazit regularly emails me text to fill in the holes. The difficult but less time-consuming part will be arranging the lines as they appear in the game according to the existing script.

I'll e-mail the ending. --Zeality 20:41, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chicken Reel

[edit]

Big Cow: I technically created the page Chicken Reel. I appreciate the work you put into the article and realize I only wrote one line, but it simply isn't true that it wasn't listed before you got to it. Temtem 06:01, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey, I have nothing constructive to add, but I just noticed your presence on the Return to Zork page and the Chrono Trigger page. I love both of these games. This makes me think you're awesome. Have a nice day! Sid 05:54, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ooh, I'm glad you think so. I grew up with the games, and so they've got a special place is my heart. =P

Wow, an entire guide?! To tell you the truth, I don't think I'd have the motivation. ;P

Hm, I've been thinking about playing through Return to Zork again, actually... If only I could find it.

Aha! I've heard good things about Monkey Island, and I'm a big fan of Paper Mario. Well, I've only played the Nintendo 64 one.

The only things I really do on Wikipedia, constructively, is (other than reading lots of articles) reverting vandalism.

I don't suppose you prefer a certain console system over other console systems, do you...? Or are you solely a PC gamer, nowadays? Sid 12:04, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh! And I don't suppose you've fallen into the big, despairing hole that is World of Warcraft, have you? ;) Sid 12:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome to hear you have a Wii. Yeah, I only really use it when I have people over. I'll probably start using it again when I get a new game.

Ah, Max Payne... I've only played through number two, completely, but it was pretty good.

I recommend WoW. It will consume your life, but hey, you'll like it. =P Sid 07:25, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Secret of Evermore/ronmorrisut4now

[edit]

Secret of Evermore was truly funny, have you pulled off the trick for the 99 call beads in Nobila (that's not how you spell it...) It involves not picking up the call bead in the corner by the dinosaur/snake head statue. then when the gate is open you have to do things in a certain order. (hint, run through the gate, it's harder to pull off if you dog sniffs the call bead out, he should instead sniff one of the guards.

BTW, I now Have a blog, not hard to find google

BigCow -

As per your request, I deleted the history of your userpage and restored the most recent version. The history page makes it look like I created your userpage, so I'll take credit if anyone asks :) Regarding the other matter, I really don't have any helpful advice. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. --best, kevin [kzollman][talk] 01:31, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
