Welcome to Wikipedia, Bluedillygal! I am Dougweller and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Inappropriate and /or promotional edits

[edit]

Hi Bluedillygal, I've reverted a number of your edits as out of context and unsourced. I'm certain they are intended as good-faith and enthusiastic contributions, but many of them appear to be promoting an individual artist, especially when added to articles on completely different topics. Even the additions to Crop art appear to be slanted heavily toward a biography of Stan Herd, about whom there is not yet a Wikipedia entry. Seeking other opinions, I've asked for input here [1]. Cheers, 99.149.84.135 (talk) 15:24, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and have done the same, but on the other hand, I suspect that Stan Herd meets our notability requirements and you could and probably should create an article about him. I am hoping that you have no direct relationship with him as that is a bit of a conflict of interest. Do read our guidance on creating articles in any case.
As for images, read WP:Images which has some suggetions on finding images that you can use. Dougweller (talk) 15:48, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How does <ref></ref> system work?

[edit]

{{helpme}} I want to reference pages within same source work-- right now have mla-style (are Wiki-errors) in my article.(Bluedillygal (talk) 16:53, 22 November 2009 (UTC))[reply]

See WP:CITE, and linked pages. We have templates to assist with doing so, that automatically format the reference correctly. Intelligentsium 17:05, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Any information you put between <ref></ref> tags becomes a footnote. The footnotes are added to werever you put this template {{reflist}}. Normally, that template is put in the Reference section. For more help, you can either;
Turn your external links into citations the way described above. Read WP:BIO and WP:LAYOUT. Don't worry about the tags on the article. Dougweller (talk) 17:53, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
