Captain Scarlet at WP:TFA/R

Bob - just so you know, the nomination is up in the non-specific slot. I thought that I might as well go for it now - for the TFA/R experience if nothing else. Regarding Century 21 Merchandising: the original Project SWORD page would probably have been a quintessential merge-or-redirect candidate had it ever been brought to AfD, so renaming the article for broader scope makes sense. I had little idea of the article's existence until I started to look through the Century 21 category for things that I could perhaps add to the Anderson template (such as The Day After Tomorrow and additional production staff who have articles - hope that you don't mind!) I've also given the Captain Scarlet template a jazzy revamping, complete with a rainbow-minus-the-violet colour scheme. SuperMarioMan 23:18, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Notibility Happy Body Slow Brain

Hi Im new to creating wikipedia articles, so Im still learning a lot. I understand Wikipedia does not want people posting articles about their own bands, however in regards to the "Happy Body Slow Brain" article, this is not MY band, but a real band made up of members of popular musical acts. The establish notibility, what sort of references should I look for. This band is beginning to develop a large following, and it took a while to compile the information so obviously Id like it to not be deleted if I can help it. Any suggestions you have would be great! Thanks!

Hi, Bob. While it's true that many of the links that Dukedexter (talk · contribs) added to various articles duplicated existing ones, and were therefore not needed, I've re-inserted a few which appear to be new additions. At some point, I'll get round to adding content about reception for the episodes "Spectrum Strikes Back" and "Point 783", using this material. The only problem with the Andersonic site is that the index seems to change regularly, meaning that reviews are moved to different pages and that links need updating - I'm going to see if I can find some permanent archive links using the Wayback Machine. Hehe, yeha I know, its a funny one, but its such an occasion at the moment that people will definitely be looking for information about it. Its one of those topics which a lot of people will groan at, but if you actually view the book and news sources for them they easily meet guidelines of notability... Ita opened a whole new topic which I think should be covered, Jimmy has a point.. Great job on cleaning up the Middleton dress article. A cool thing would be to promote this to GA, that should tell em!! I've just started the ELizabeth dress... The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a science fiction comedy radio series written by Douglas Adams and first broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC Radio 4 in 1978. The serial follows the adventures of Englishman Arthur Dent and his friend Ford Prefect, an alien who writes for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, an intergalactic encyclopedia and travelogue. After Earth is destroyed in the first episode, Dent and Ford find themselves aboard a stolen spaceship piloted by a motley crew including Zaphod Beeblebrox (Ford's semi-cousin and Galactic President), a depressed robot called Marvin and an Earth woman calling herself Trillian, who is the only other surviving human being. A second series was transmitted in 1980 and the first series was adapted for television. This in turn was followed by five novels, a computer game and several other adaptations. Before his death in May 2001, Adams considered writing a third radio series based on his novel Life, the Universe and Everything. Meanwhile, I've not forgotten that you said "a paragraph about its scientific influence may be suitable" on its talk page, in response to my comments about the New Scientist magazine's delight in all connections Adamsian. What if you and I were to draft such a paragraph together. If you start the ball rolling, it will at least be in a style that will knit in with the main article. Then, I can propose my edits to it. I have an incubation page (User:TheAMmollusc/Incubation) that you are welcome to scribble in, if you like (I'm assuming that Wikipedia doesn't impose any access-right restrictions on such a page). In fact, although I said that I would let you start the ball rolling, maybe I will sketch out a few ideas there, myself, for you to edit into a shape that you consider more appropriate, or to rewrite completely. NBR 224 and 420 Classes

Hi, thanks for passing NBR 224 and 420 Classes as GA - it's only my second GA, and my first as sole contributor (discounting your dab of Tay Bridge that is, which I'd completely overlooked.

You raised two points on the Talk:NBR 224 and 420 Classes/GA1 page. I don't think I'm supposed to comment there once the GA is closed, so here are my replies.

• "During his tenure of seven years, he provided the NBR with 185 new locomotives; but only eight of these were for express passenger trains, the first two of which were 2-4-0s built in 1869 (the 141 Class),[8] which were considered to be very good engines." - I think this sentence could be a little clearer, as I think "were for express passenger trains" could maybe do with a qualifier. Something like "eight of these engines were suitable for hauling express passenger trains". It might be better to mention classes rather than individual engines, perhaps?
  • I've added the words "suitable" and "hauling" as suggested.
  • I'm not sure how this reads as mentioning individual engines. Wheatley's eight express passenger locos were of three classes: the two 2-4-0s of the 141 class, and the six 4-4-0s which are the subject of the article. In subsequent paragraphs the numbers for the 4-4-0s are given, but I didn't give the numbers of the 141 class anywhere, other than in the context of "the 141 Class". Specifically, this class comprised nos. 141 and 164, which became nos. 1158 and 1160 in 1912.

• "Despite the fall, the locomotive was relatively undamaged, being protected by the bridge girders which formed a cage around the train as they fell together." - this is quite interesting. I'd be quite interested to know how far it fell (presumably it was the height of the bridge plus the depth of the Tay). There's no need to add this, it just seems quite interesting that given it was likely to have been damaged, they were so keen to recover the locomotive.
  • I didn't come across this. It's most likely to be in Yolland & Barlow 1880, and probably also in Prebble 1959, but it's certainly not in the books dealing primarily with locomotives. I don't know the depth of the Firth, nor the state of the tide at the time. According to Prebble, the bridge was designed for a clearance of 100 feet, but the New York Times gives a clearance of 88 ft above high water (see here, right-hand column, line 36). The maximum tidal range at Dundee is 5 metres (16 ft) (see here, section 13.1.6). I suppose that on that basis a clearance of 88 ft at high tide could give as much as 100 ft at low tide. But I wouldn't want to bring in calculations based upon tide tables etc., that would be WP:OR. After it fell, the fallen girders were visible above the surface at low tide (see here), so the depth of the Firth at that point will be less than three fathoms.

Ever Decreasing Circles

Hi Bob, I've worked out that your edit back in 2006 was the source of the claim that Ronnie Lane played the theme tune to Ever Decreasing Circles, and no one has questioned it. I've changed it to a far more likely (almost certainly right) musician, Ronnie Hazlehurst who was the father of British comedy theme-tune writing, and a talented pianist. Ronnie Lane on the other hand was a guitarist and isn't credited with playing piano in any of his bands.

Hmm, I've had a look around. I rather suspect that this may have been the original source; "according to Derek Hulme's book, the theme tune to the BBC TV comedy "Ever Decreasing Circles" was indeed the Prelude Op. 34 No. 15, played by one Ronnie Lane." However, this was an edit I made six years ago when Wikipedia barely used inline citations. Perhaps there is a pianist called Ronnie Lane who isn't the rock star that has been assumed?
