Brady Quinn fiasco
[edit]It's not a real thing, it shouldn't be a page.Chris Nelson 21:57, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
No, it's not. A bunch of fans pissed off isn't newsworthy. It happens.Chris Nelson 22:00, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
That is not what Wikipedia is for. It's an encyclopedia. Every time a sports team makes a transaction some fans don't like, that doesn't mean it needs it's own article in an ENCYCLOPEDIA. Look, you're wrong about this. Drop it.Chris Nelson 22:05, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
You're not supposed to clear your talk page.Chris Nelson 22:14, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
It's not worthy of having it's OWN page on Wikipedia. Sure it's worth mentioning somewhere, like on Quinn's page, Ginn's page or the Dolphins' page. But it shouldn't have it's OWN page. I'll pick a random example. Halle Berry recently said she once contemplated suicide. It was newsworthy, as some news outlets reported it. But that doesn't mean it needs its OWN page. Just a mention on HER page.Chris Nelson 23:23, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Duplicate images uploaded
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Uruguay National Football Team.PNG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Uruguay Nationa Footballl Team.PNG. The copy called Image:Uruguay Nationa Footballl Team.PNG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 04:02, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:PUMASDORADOSLOGO.PNG
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:PUMASDORADOSLOGO.PNG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:24, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Uruguay National Team.PNG)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Uruguay National Team.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:47, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I noticed you're creating a new template for Cal Poly Pomona. I created the current one to match the style of the other CSU templates, but it looks like you are trying to do something similar to my templates for the UC campuses (e.g., {{UCLA}}), but with a collapsible template rather than the .tocolours template that I originally used for both of those designs. The .tocolours designs are curretly being converted into a new standard, and you may want to look at {{UCSB}} and this ongoing conversation.
- {{California State Polytechnic University, Pomona}} is something I still consider a beta version, owing to the dearth of articles in the Cal Poly Pomona category when I made it, so it's still a little ugly. The way I would envision it looking when finished would be more like {{San Diego State University}}. BTW, you may want to either reposition the image or disable the collapsibility function, because it doesn't seem to work with the image sharing the top rw with the title bar. --Dynaflow babble 23:52, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's looking good. You might want to consider cropping the picture, though, in order to limit the overall amount of vertical space the template will take up in the articles where it will be transcluded. For my picture templates I've done, I have tended to use tall, skinny pictures for categories with lots of articles (e.g., {{University of California, Berkeley}}) and short, fat pictures for categories with relatively few articles (e.g., the UCSB template and {{University of California, San Diego}}). That is a uniquely good shot you have there, and what you might want to do is keep it on your own computer and re-crop it to increase the height-to-width ratio, starting from a point centering on that engineering building with the cool roofline, as you add articles to your template. That way, you could go live with the thing immediately without needing to put together enough articles to justify the height of the template or having to shink the picture down to a microscopic level. Just either comment out or erase the code for my template and copy in yours at {{California State Polytechnic University, Pomona}} when you think it's ready, and it will appear on all the relevant pages. --Dynaflow babble 08:01, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Image:England_National_Team.PNG
[edit]I have tagged Image:England_National_Team.PNG as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. BigrTex 16:07, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Cal Poly Pomona CLA.png
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Cal Poly Pomona CLA.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:14, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

File source problem with File:CALPOLY1.PNG
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:CALPOLY1.PNG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:38, 10 May 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:38, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
