1964 Gabon coup d'etat
Yo Meldshal, could you please review 1964 Gabon coup d'etat at FAC? Thanks. --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 20:09, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- Why should I cut information out of the article? --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 21:40, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- Exactly why would it gain opposition? I'm listening to you, I just don't understand why you are saying this. Please explain. --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 21:45, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- Having multiple inline cites to a single book souce is very common in FAs. See Ima Hogg for an example. Are you angry at me? --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 21:55, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, you said it was nice that someone had manners. Ididn't know if that was sarcastic or sincere. Have you been having problems with an ill-mannered person? --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 22:00, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- No, not at all. What are you so stessed over, anyway? --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 22:02, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Okay, no harm done. I'm currently working on Jean-Hilaire Aubame to bring up to GA. I apologise for not working on them earthquakes--I'm just so busy with African politics. Of course, my username isn't Earthquakeed (or Jeff, my real name), it's Editorofthewiki, which has some pretty broad implcations. :) --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 22:09, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Death Valley image
Thanks for the note. I'm slightly puzzled about the fact that your uploaded file is slightly larger. Even though one would expect it to have more detail due to lower compression, I couldn't pinpoint such differences. I think in this case, it may be better to identify the new image as an alternative of the old, and leave it up. I've gone ahead and done that. I also restored the original source information, as it may become relevant. Papa Lima Whiskey (talk) 15:50, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Re: Mount Adams
Sorry for taking too long, barely saw your message. What exactly are you confused in the GA review? -- ThinkBlue (Hit BLUE) 20:19, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, well I gave the review on August 4 and now is August 10. If its removed, then I'll check it out from the GA review. But, I can't pass the article if there's "citation needed" tags. -- ThinkBlue (Hit BLUE) 20:27, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks!
Thanks for uploading this awesome image. [1] You might want to stick it in the commons tho. --mboverload@ 20:34, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
FP candidate
It looks good as far as quality, but I'll tell you right now, it will probably not pass b/c it only barely meets the size requirements. Good luck with it, though, and keep looking! There's lots of pics out there that deserve to be FPs, but just haven't been found by the right person. In the future, if you have any doubts as to how something would do in FPC, I would recommend running it through Picture Peer Review first. Many of the same people hang out there, and basically it's just a way to have your picture reviewed and get a clue as to what the reaction would be to it as an FPC. Hope that helps! Cheers, and Happy Olympics! Clegs (talk) 15:17, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- If you'll look at the sizes, though, the Mt. Etna picture's smallest axis is 2000 pixels long. The longest axis of yours is 1000 pixels, making the Mt. Etna more than twice the size of yours. That's the difference that other editors may hang up on. Then again, they may not. It is a very striking picture. Clegs (talk) 15:23, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
A question about a closure you did
Wikipedia_talk:Featured_picture_candidates#German_instrument_of_surrender You may wish to comment and/or review the promotion. Best wishes, DurovaCharge! 16:03, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. May I ask one other question? this candidate had four supports and only one weak oppose, yet you closed it as not promoted. I was looking in the featured picture guidelines for direction there and didn't see a rationale that covered that, although I might not have been looking in the right place because I don't close discussions myself and don't usually pay much attention to that. It looks to my eye like that image had 80% support. Was there something I'm missing? DurovaCharge! 17:10, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- (responding here) I did suppose that wasn't your consideration, yet wonder what it was. If a shortage of overall response was the issue, please consider reopening and letting this run for a couple more days. Napoleon has enough EV to be worth it, especially for a nomination whose voting pattern showed a definite trend toward passing. DurovaCharge! 03:43, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome. --Burntnickel (talk) 21:22, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Channels
= wavelengths whose intensity the satellite's sensors measure. Satellites tend to measure somewhere between four and 30 wavelengths. When this information is distributed, it becomes a colour channel each of which you can assign to an output medium in an arbitrary way. That's why you need to specify which channels are in the image, and which gun you assigned them to. Papa Lima Whiskey (talk) 00:43, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Proposed ban from closing nominations
Since you have left a significant mess for everyone else to clean up at WP:FPC, I have proposed that you be banned from closing nominations. I have also taken the liberty of reverting the two most recent ones. The discussion and trail of destruction you left behind is at WT:FPC#Half-assed closings. MER-C 13:07, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Mishpatim
I've just had a message from you complaining about an edit on Mishpatim. If you would take the trouble to look at the history, instead of just firing off a rude message to me, you will see that the volcano image you removed had been there since 1 January 2006. It was nothing to do with me. All I did was add a completely innocent link. SamuelTheGhost (talk) 18:08, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Excuse me, but I don't think that's good enough. You caused a wholly inappropriate message to be sent to me, because you didn't bother to check what was going on. Don't you take responsibility for your own actions? You owe me an apology, and what you wrote to me fell far short of that. (I'm not even certain that the volcano was vandalism in the first place, but that's not my concern.) SamuelTheGhost (talk) 18:28, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Please, please look at the history. The edit I did was to add some link brackets to Ancient Near Eastern Texts Relating to the Old Testament, which was an article I'd been working on. I didn't take any real notice of the rest of the Mishpatim article. That's why I've been so taken aback at your message. SamuelTheGhost (talk) 18:38, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I'm glad that's sorted out. I'm happy now. You're forgiven. Cheers SamuelTheGhost (talk) 18:51, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Capture of Jerusalem 1917d.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Capture of Jerusalem 1917d.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Capture of Jerusalem 1917d.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Peer review request
Hi Meldshal42,
I noticed your name on Wikipedia:Peer review/volunteers and was wondering if you would consider doing a peer review for Newton's theorem of revolving orbits? I hope to bring it to WP:GA or FA. I'd appreciate your insights a lot. Thanks muchly, Willow (talk) 00:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I can look over the article. But, not right now. Like today, I'm sorta just on for a couple of minutes. As well as the Lake article you suggested. :) -- ThinkBlue (Hit BLUE) 18:27, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

DOI bot notes at FAC
Hi; the DOI bot notes at FAC aren't really needed, and are confusing some editors. The bot only adds DOI, doesn't check sources, so its mention isn't really needed at FAC. Some editors think the message means that sources have been checked. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:16, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Re:possible coordinator election for WP:QUAKE
Hey. I really don't understand how the coordinator thing works. What would the coordinator do, anyway? Good job with Earthquake--that article was crap before you came along. I don't think it is of GA status, but I will work on it somewhat when I tie up some odds and ends. I have also started on 2003 Bam, though I have a lot to do first! --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 18:35, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
FPC image
Hi, before moving the image by myself to Commons, I tried to contact him with no answer. I think that he would be contacted by a user with a good level of German. Jespinos (talk) 23:14, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Heh...I'm not that often of a clerk; you just caught me when I was lucky enough to find clerking to do. It looks like you will be able to change your name, since the username you requested does not exist here, nor is it a SUL account yet. bibliomaniac15 21:11, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Meldshal, is that you?
Hmm, cool userame. It does make me wonder, why did you choose it? Anyway, You've been a please to work with, and I am seriously considering nominating you for adminship soon. One question though: Are you a he or a she? --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 23:56, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- Duh, I should have checked your userpage. --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 23:58, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know. You are certainly trustworthy, which is basically what admins need to be. I'm not sure if you'll pass, but it's worth a shot. I wasn't thinking about nominating you now, just maybe a month or so from now. I'm i8n no hurry, and first I have to deal with the two FACs. --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 00:03, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
