Thanks for uploading Image:Ben photo 1.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 06:45, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw your note on the talk page at helical camshaft. If you are the owner of the website that is fine, you just have to file proof of it with Wikipedia for legal reasons. The instructions for how to so this are at WP:PERMISSION.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I will be more than glad to work on the article after the copyright stuff is figured out. Wizard191 (talk) 04:11, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Wizard. There are many people involved in the Helical cam project; its design and making etc. I paid for the website domain name so I presume that makes me the owner of the website. Other people are doing the website (I am having enough problems with Wiki) but I suspect that I am the owner legally. Do I need to do anything more? Also the two pictures on my talk page got there accidentally when I was attempting to put the photos in the article - I would delete them if I knew how. The "carrier crewman" is a painting by my son James - he mostly works in this semi-comicbook style. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clivedog (talkcontribs)
The wikipedia people should get back to you if you email doesn't contain all of the information they need. I'll mark the two photos to be deleted per your request. The notice below is because I browsed through you images and saw that the two were identical so I marked one for deletion.
FYI...when you are leaving messages on talk page, end your note with the characters: "~~~~" so that we known who left the message. Wizard191 (talk) 13:48, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK...the people on the other end of the email will get back to you and/or post on the article's talk page the "ticket" verifying that you are the owner and that you did release rights to it. Once that happens they will remove the copyright template from the article. You don't need to do anything else. Don't worry about asking questions, Wikipedia has a bit of a learning curve to it. Wizard191 (talk) 13:07, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well it looks like it worked that time. They posted the OTRS on the talk page and removed the copyright temp. Good work. Wizard191 (talk) 14:10, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Wki cam photo 1.jpeg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Wki cam photo 1.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Wki cam photo 1.jpeg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notes

[edit]

Just an FYI, when adding a note like the one you added to the helical cam article, make it a hidden note by adding the following code around your note: <!-- Insert text here -->. That way readers don't have to see it, but editors can. Thanks! Wizard191 (talk) 03:32, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your uploads

[edit]

Good day. I see that you have uploaded a number of images to Wikipedia. First off, thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, there are some guidelines that we need to follow with copyrighted images. Specifically, you need to add a source for the image (a link to a website will do), a copyright tag (there are some listed at WP:ICT), and a rationale explaining why we can use a copyrighted image (explained at WP:NFURG). I see that your images fail to include one of these. Please stop uploading images and address the concerns listed above. If you need assistance, you can ask at the help desk. If you do not fix these images, and you continue to make bad uploads, you will be blocked and your images will be deleted. Thanks for your contributions! File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Wki cam photo 2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk) 21:49, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

None of the above red-linked images had either a source or a copyright template. I'm presuming from your comments that there probably isn't a web-site (i.e. they haven't been published elsewhere) and that the appropriate copyright would be {{pd-self}} or {{GFDL-self}} a list of the PD templates is at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. If one of them is correct, drop me a note regarding which one it is, and I'll restore them with the right information. It'll be up to you to put them back in the article(s) where you think they're appropriate. Skier Dude (talk) 04:46, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

'Bosch' patent diesel pump

[edit]

Hello,

Diesel injection pump - regular cam-operated diesel injection pumps use a helical shaft to variate the amount of fuel being injected. Here is how it works: http://i.imgur.com/BNsf1.gif

The helical camshaft does the same for inlet and exhaust valves as the diesel injection pump does for the diesel fuel valve. It's the same principle applied elsewhere. --Joffeloff (talk) 05:43, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(From my talk page, in case you don't see it:) The thing is, the entire helical camshaft article reads like it was written solely by someone who works on the project themselves. That is, it reads like a press release, or an article from the manufacturer's/inventor's website. You don't exactly hide your affiliation with it either (which isn't a bad thing, it's certainly better than pretending to be impartial) but it is a problem. Wikipedia:Notability#Self-promotion and indiscriminate publicity describes this problem. Wikipedia is *supposed* to consist of work referenced from third-party sources, in an attempt to be impartial, neutral and to cover only notable subjects. I don't know if there are any third-party sources on the helical camshaft. The article desperately needs to be reworded by someone with an outside point of view, and referenced by third-party sources, to avoid standing out like a sore thumb as it does now. It looks like a publicity piece.
I'm not a mechanical engineer but to me the helical camshaft varies opening and closure times of intake- and exhaust valves in the same way the Bosch pump varies the intake- and the closure time of the diesel injector valve. Sure, it's different because it's a camshaft and all that but the principle seems similar.
Again, I am no mechanical engineer as you say. But here's the thing: if you want to add an extraordinary claim like that to an article it needs a source. I don't need a source to remove an extraordinary claim that has been tagged as needing a citation for months and has not yet received one. All such claims do, is to make Wikipedia look frivolous, and the article on the camshaft, too. --Joffeloff (talk) 08:59, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
