Pittsburgh Photos
[edit]The image montage that was on the Pittsburgh infobox contained an image that was not properly credited per the license agreement in WikiMedia. If you use a photo from Wiki, please check to see if there is a license that governs the use of the image. This will solve your problems --Ronjamin (talk) 14:33, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:DominionSquare.JPG
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:DominionSquare.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 07:08, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
The article Sun Valley Parkway has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- doesn't assert notability
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Imzadi1979 (talk) 09:45, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Copyright problems
[edit]You've had some quite pervasive issues with not following Wikipedia's policies regarding use of copyrighted materials and proper attribution. Is there anything I can do to help clear up questions you may have? I'm just confused by how you can keep getting so many notifications and warnings without noticeably changing your behavior. —Notyourbroom (talk) 05:18, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure how you define pervasive. The VAST majority of my photos have had no issues. I have made mistakes in entering information about these photos which sometimes led to their deletion, but do not post copyrighted photos to Wikipedia. Everyone seems to complain about the Pittsburgh montage I made, telling me it's copyrighted, but all of those photos came from other pages where the photos have been in use for quite some time with no copyright issues.--Conk 9 (talk) 17:43, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- The issue in those cases is that of a lack of attribution and illegal relicensing: you're violating copyright law by using copyrighted albeit freely-licensed images by not attributing the authors per the terms of the licenses the original works were published under. Saying that an image is in the public domain, as you normally claim, is absolutely incorrect, because your montages comprise derivative works of multiple copyrighted images. It's legal nonsense to say that copyright magically stops applying at that point. And in addition, it's a plain lie for you to make the claim on the image info page of a montage that "[you] created this work entirely by [your]self" because obviously, you did not take every photograph. —Notyourbroom (talk) 18:54, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- See, for instance, how this editor handles attribution and licensing issues for this montage. Here is another example. —Notyourbroom (talk) 18:58, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi, you recently turned this page into a redirect and then you created Clearview Mall (Louisiana) with the information on this page. When you do this you should note in the edit summary, or on the article's talk page (preferably both) that the contents were created from another Wikipedia article. This is to give proper attribution to the earlier editing history that was lost when you ported the article's contents from one page to another. ThemFromSpace 01:22, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Cut and paste move of Clearview Mall
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Clearview Mall a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Clearview Mall (Louisiana). This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. • Gene93k (talk) 19:40, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
Copy-and-paste page moves
[edit]Hello, Conk 9. Concerning your contribution, Brown Line (Pittsburgh), a page move cannot be done by simply copying and pasting the contents of a page into a new location, as such a process does not transfer the page's edit history and therefore violates the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). As a violation of the page move process, Brown Line (Pittsburgh) needs to be temporarily deleted under the speedy deletion criteria so that the page you intended to move may be properly moved in a way that will preserve its edit history. Brown Line (Pittsburgh) has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. If not, please refrain from editing either the page you intended to move or Brown Line (Pittsburgh) until the latter has been deleted according to Wikipedia's speedy criterion G6 (non-controversial housekeeping).
If you did not intend to make a page move, then please insert the {{hangon}} tag right below the {{db-copypaste}} tag in Brown Line (Pittsburgh) and state your intentions on Talk:Brown Line (Pittsburgh). An administrator will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. Thank you for your contributions. Scillystuff (talk) 18:47, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Plume Street (Tide station), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Monticello Avenue (Tide station). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 15:20, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Pcomo.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Pcomo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Cropping images and copyright
[edit]When you crop a free image and upload the derivative image to Wikipedia, please be careful to note the original file. You did not do that in this in several occasions:
- File:Cathedral99.JPG (which now exists at File:Cathedral of Learning.jpg) - you also improperly changed the license in this image to be PD, when the original image was GFDL
- File:DowntownNorfolk.JPG
- File:DowntownNorfolk1.JPG
- File:BofANorfolk.JPG
- File:150WestMainStreet.JPG
- File:PghT2.JPG - you also improperly changed the license in this image to be PD, when the original image was GFDL
- File:FederatedTowerPgh.JPG
- File:Pittsburgh77.JPG
- File:Pittsburgh78.JPG
- File:NorfolkMarriott.JPG
- File:DominionTowerNorfolk.JPG
- File:AlcoaBuilding.jpg
- File:GoldenTriangleA.jpg
- Seeing this list is too much for me. Conk9, I've tried to engage with you productively before, but all I got back were excuses and denials. I'm going to break WP:CIVIL for a moment by saying quit being a total ass by claiming "I created this work entirely by myself" when you make derivative works from other people's images. Also, quit trying to republish things into the public domain when they're clearly copyrighted. It's wrong, it's sloppy, it's frankly stupid, it's immoral, and it puts the project in danger because it's also illegal. You've even done this to one of my photostitches before- a featured picture of mine, no less. No other user's conduct has pissed me off as badly as yours has done, and when one copyvio notification after another pops up on my watchlist, it just reaffirms to me how sloppy of an editor you are and how lazy you must be to not care to modify your behavior despite so many interventions. —Bill Price (nyb) 00:52, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Svpkwy.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Svpkwy.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. License tagging for File:NorfolkVAMontage2.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:NorfolkVAMontage2.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:09, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- I've told you how to provide proper attribution and licensing for photo montages, and I've shown you two examples. See here. Stop making derivative works which do not follow the legal requirements of the source works' licenses. —Bill Price (nyb) 22:05, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- That montage contains File:Odubricksign.jpg, which was deleted as a copyvio. I've tagged it as such.--GrapedApe (talk) 21:48, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Odubricksign.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Odubricksign.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —Bill Price (nyb) 00:24, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
November 2010
[edit]Your addition has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Magog the Ogre (talk) 00:36, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:WestinNorfolk.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:WestinNorfolk.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 00:38, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

The article Main Street Tower has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- NN office building. No sources to establish notability. Being a 14 story building doesn't confer automatic notability.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GrapedApe (talk) 00:05, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
