Greetings
[edit]Hello Coogan630. Thanks for inviting me to support your Wikipedia efforts as a mentor. I will gladly assist in this capacity. I have reviewed the edits you have made so far. I think it is great that you are testing things in your sandbox and I look forward to the content you will append to this encyclopedia. I will be monitoring your Wikipedia activities from here, an provide guidance as appropriate. You are always welcome to contact me if you have any specific questions or concerns. So enjoy editing Wikipedia, and know that I look forward to our future interactions. With esteem. My76Strat 22:59, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Image file
[edit]I was looking at some of your recent editing activities and noticed that there is a problem with the file you uploaded here. If you can correct the licensing information, that would be great. If not the image will be deleted. It is likely this image has a copyright a may not qualify as a free image. Uploading files is a precise process with little flexibility and nearly zero tolerance regarding errors. It is also run as a sister project called Wikimedia Commons, which is different from Wikipedia, and governed by different rules. I can help with uploads but as I stated the licensing is quite stringent. Let me know if you need assistance. Regards. My76Strat 00:21, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Urban Economic Development Initiatives in Detroit
[edit]As Urban Economic Development Initiatives in Detroit exist as a article, I am not sure of the significance here. To be sure, it is the article which will be scrutinized by Wikipedia. If it is your intention to perform editing test prior to posting the edit, this is more appropriate for a sandbox. You can also have a user subpage for this purpose which I'll gladly help set up if you like. The user talkpage is more appropriate for direct communications, comments and replies. Regards. My76Strat 03:34, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. Coogan630, will you allow us to move this draft to a sandbox for you or just delete it, now that the article has been created? Awadewit (talk) 17:18, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- I took liberty as mentor to remove the test edits to User:Coogan630/sandbox which already exists as a user subpage. Done My76Strat 00:26, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks everyone. I wrote the article last week as a quick test to see if the article would work and also for a requirement for class. I appreciate the heads-up and the link to the sandbox. Coogan630
Merge discussion
[edit]There is discussion regarding Urban Economic Development Initiatives in Detroit. It does seem the content should be in the existing article on the subject. In efforts to better mentor your initial involvement, I wish I had been more involved with the development of this article. In any regard, let me know your thoughts to these My76Strat 00:08, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
We are beginning to further the research on certain industries in the Detroit metropolitan area that are in need of industry targeting for economic development. I definitely will merge the article with Urban development in Detroit, as suggested. Since that article mainly focuses on infrastructure and capital improvement, it probably could use an economic-based section of urban growth in Detroit. What are your thoughts on where it should be placed within the article? Thanks very much, coogan630
- To me it would seem appropriate to include a level 3 header to the section titled 'Projects', as you stated calling in perhaps 'Urban economic development'. Then you can manually move the information with supporting references to that section. Once all relevant information is merged, we can make this title a redirect to the new article title and section. If you are interested in creating an entirely new article, we should first research that the subject you want to write about is not already covered in another title, and that the subject you want to write about is sufficiently notable, on its own merit, to require a separate article.
- Sometimes it is entirely proper to expand what is a section of one article into an independent article. Unfortunately, it seems as this topic fails at notability for a stand alone article. In the future that could change, but if its not too late for your class project, or if you just want to do it as a Wikipedian, we can find a topic for you to develop from scratch. In any regard, as you merge to and improve the existing article, you will certainly be contributing to Wikipedia in an appreciated manner. And for what it is worth, I have come to realize that this form of a hobby can also be fulfilling and fun. I hope it becomes as such for you as well. Best regards.My76Strat 02:45, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
