DYK discussion
Hi Crisco 1492,
I trust that you are well, and thanks again for the barnstar some months ago. :)
After looking at the DYK talk page, I would like to say that I'm concerned that you twice wrote that an editor was trolling again. IMHO, the editor is passionate about writing good articles, and this passion is why he writes so much and contributes so generously. Please try to remember that passion if you ever are tempted to write that he is engaging in the intentional provocation of a troll in a future conflict.
Please contact me if you ever think that I might help diffuse a conflict. I certainly have benefited from peace-makers. :)
Respectfully, Kiefer.Wolfowitz 22:36, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- The original comment by Malleus was slightly inflammatory, but he is known for his... expressive language. However, addressing comments by writing "You may waffle as much as you like, but it's very clear that you're in denial." followed rather quickly by "Surely there must come a time when even you realise that you're talking bollocks", as well as a repeated refusal to acknowledge when someone has replied to his question(s), borders on prolonging an argument without any reason, which is trolllish behaviour. I noted this a little after said comment when TK said it was a serious question.
- There are some editors who I disagree with, but I do not call them trolls willy-nilly as they generally can present their arguments within policy and the guidelines. Malleus has used inflammatory language since 2009, saying stuff like "Does nobody check them for such basic errors first?", "The problem here though isn't whether you're either black or a smarta$$, it's that the sequence of boring hooks is well, fucking boring", Thus speaks the real "hostile bully". How ironic."Apologists for DYK can't even see obvious plagiarism when it's in their face" Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:29, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying. I appreciate your words and the care you took in writing.
- There are parts of my own personality that I wish I could change, among them getting irritated too easily. I've regretted things I've written, with less cause than MF has had when he has expressed irritation so memorably.
- I growled at gentle Drmies once at DYK, but he forgave me quickly! A bit more Drmies-qualities would help everybody at DYK and elsewhere.
- Have a good night! Kiefer.Wolfowitz 00:49, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Nice work with The Problem We All Live With! Kiefer.Wolfowitz 02:28, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for the kind words, but that was Roscelese's article all the way. I just reviewed it. Regarding the frustration, I understand how stressful life here can be as we have dozens if not hundreds of cultures interacting, many not in their native languages; editor's personalities also vary widely. The wonderful thing is that this works, and we have over 3000 FAs, several thousand GAs, and uncounted B class articles. Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:10, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Re: re: Chinese Indonesians
Hi, this is likely moot since the FAC has closed. I was only looking at the images at that time (with a bit on the riots since a non-free image was rationalised about that topic), so I have no firm ideas on the rest of the content. On first glance, it appears impressive though. In case similar situation pop up in the future, I think it is not common practice to pick up an FAC if the nominator has left the article (so as to speak) without asking him or her for a go-ahead first. If the editor is absent from the project, then I think an interested editor can ask at the FAC if the community is willing to let him or her pick up the process and continue.
