syrinx

[edit]

Good luck for the future. My infant daughter has many medical conditions which have indirectly resulted in a syrinx (has Arnold Chiari II, Hydracephalus, Spina Bifida etc). I understand that many people with a syrinx do not present with symptoms but when they do present they are very serious indications of damage occurring. I pray that you do not face too many challenges with this. After shunting (an SP and VP) we have seen her able to become physically stronger and able to do more. So great things can happen - but a journey still needs to be taken.Yendor of yinn (talk) 04:13, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Metaphysis

[edit]

In response to your recent submission to the Bone article regarding the epiphyseal plate. The metaphysis is not synonymous with the epiphyseal, or growth, plate. The metaphysis is a specific area of a long bone that lies between the diaphysis and epiphysis. When present in a long bone, the epiphyseal plate is a thin disc of hyaline cartilage that lies between the epiphysis and the metaphysis. Robert M. Hunt 18:27, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's better than making a new entry for metaphysis alone. You'll need to either do that, or further define what's already there. Metaphysis is a common medical term and should be mentioned. - Cyborg Ninja 22:23, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please see the article for metaphysis. I did not edit that article and it says basically what I stated. Do with that what you wish, but I do believe it is worthwhile to note in the articles that the epiphyseal plate is located within the metaphysis. - Cyborg Ninja 06:47, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crohn's

[edit]

Read about your health condition. Please try to see Dr.Robert Baldassano;Director of the center for Inflammatory Bowel disease at Children's hospital of Philadelphia.>He himself came down with Crohn's disease.According to US News & World report article--Sept.3,2007,John ricci's Colon was going to be removed-but parents went for 2nd opinion--Baldassano tried combination of different drugs and dosage and John Ricci was on the mend without Colon removal surgery.GOOD LUCK - SatinderMullick

I Googled Baldassano and it seems it's about how he uses Infliximab in children. I'm not sure if I could support that. Infliximab has serious side effects even in adults, but it's worth studying. Thank you for the info. - Cyborg Ninja 21:14, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,I read your condition--You are a BRAVE person. Please consult Dr.Robert Baldassano of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.Dr.Baldassano suffers from similar problem and is Director of IBD. By the way,Dr.Tarun Mullick helped a Race track runner(15 years old youngman) regain full strength from Crohn's and even became MAIN SPONSOR of FOR FOXRIVER 5K to find better cures for Crohn's disease. I wish you many years of good health. - unsigned comment from SatinderMullick

I am not a medical doctor--but www.gastroendonews.com had a few articles written by top experts on IBD and reviewed by Dr.Tarun Mullick 3/4 months ago where all the new drugs were discussed. You may wish to read those articles--Access is Free. 300+ edits a day user

[edit]

One quick question before I begin my bit, what user is this? Tagging articles is an okay thing to do, but tagging three hundred a day, is not, that is about one edit every 4.8 minutes. That is considered okay, but just seems weird. Your Grace Lord Sir Dreamy of Buckland tm 21:46, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, how did you find me, personally? Your Grace Lord Sir Dreamy of Buckland tm 21:47, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Caisson

[edit]

Thanks for the heads up - I think I'll leave it be for a little bit while I gather some sources so I can rid the article of Mattisse once and for all. I don't have enough time to go for arbitration - so I think I'll try to get Mattisse off the page by making sure there is nothing he can complain about instead. =) --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 09:30, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good idea. I'm sure it'll be a great article in the end. - Cyborg Ninja 18:06, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! You uploaded this image in October of 2007 and tagged it with {{PD-art}}. Perhaps you are not familiar with copyright in this case? This art work was created in the early 1950s, and the pd-art tag applies to works where the author has been dead for 100 years (he died just 11 years ago) or art that is in the public domain via other methods. This work was created after the 1920s, a cutoff point for this sort of work, and is most emphatically not in the public domain. I've re-tagged the image. Without meaning to be in any way demeaning towards you, please be more careful in the future with such taggings and if you have questions ask at Wikipedia:Image copyright help desk. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 14:23, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way the image is backwards!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xraybk (talkcontribs) 02:40, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Mattisse evidence

[edit]

That's very interesting. I had never seen those diffs before. I think she was just trying to be a drama queen and stir up the shit, but still, that has to be the strangest series of edits from her I've ever seen. Viriditas (talk) 09:58, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Viriditas, I'm responding here since I read your talk page message. I think it's the most extreme example for any Mattisse case. I don't understand why it's never mentioned or used, though, except when I brought it up. It was in the past, but it's an example of what can happen again unless people stop brushing the issue aside. I don't think anyone should be saved because of their contributions here. Mattisse feels ganged up on and needs help, and we're not doing the right thing. We can't just throw around wikilingo and act like things will get better. She needs a real friend and not someone to just fix articles with. I'll admit I haven't been that kind, but now and then, I feel a twinge of guilt. - Cyborg Ninja 00:51, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Recently, I was dismayed to see the creation of the "plague" lists. Most editors would be blocked for such behavior. I like Mattisse, and I've worked with her in less than a dozen articles, with very few problems (except for recently). She's even taught me a thing or two about her writing process, which I found interesting. She has a lot to offer Wikipedia, but for some reason that none of us can figure out, her personality quirks tend to overshadow her good work. I don't know what the answer is, but that's why we elected arbcom. Hopefully, they can figure it out. Viriditas (talk) 08:25, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Syringomyelia

[edit]

Hi everyone. I was wondering why you editied the Syringomyelia discussion page so much. I am a person born with syringomyelia and it really effected my life. Could you give me more information? I most likely will get surgery in the coming years. If you want to know more first visit the Syringomyelia page and go to my page. Thanks. Photo of fountain at Villa Medici

[edit]

I do not understand what has happened here. I have been busy and have not looked at Wikipedia for more than a week. When I looked today, it appears that you had kindly started to edit my photo and then stopped doing so, thinking I had stopped you. This is certainly not the case Indeed I dont think I would know how to stop you if I wanted to! I thought it was quite a nice picture but people objected to it and I did not feel strongly enough about it to do any more. I would have been delighted for somebody to do it for me. (I dont know if this is the right place for this comment but hope you will see it. I would not wish to be thought wilfully obstructive)

A new medical resource

[edit]

Please note that there is a new freely accessible medical resource, MedMerits (to which I'm a medical advisor) on neurologic disorders. A discussion on ELs to MedMerits and medical ELs in general is currently in progress ("Wikipedia and its relationship to the outside world"). I'm posting this to your page because you indicated an interest in neurology. Presto54 (talk) 16:12, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Pacland.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Pacland.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:54, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New medical organization

[edit]

Hi

I'm contacting you because, as a participant at Wikiproject Medicine, you may be interested in a new multinational non-profit organization we're forming at m:Wikimedia Medicine. Even if you don't want to be actively involved, any ideas you may have about our structure and aims would be very welcome on the project's talk page.

Our purpose is to help improve the range and quality of free online medical content, and we'll be working with like-minded organizations, such as the World Health Organization, professional and scholarly societies, medical schools, governments and NGOs - including Translators Without Borders.

Hope to see you there! --Anthonyhcole (talk) 07:15, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)

[edit]

The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.

  • Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
  • Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
  • If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Cheers, Ocaasi t | c 20:24, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your free Cochrane account is on its way!

[edit]

Please fill out this very short form to receive your free access to Cochrane Collaboration's library of medical reviews: Link to form.

If you have any questions, just ask me. Cheers, Ocaasi 13:22, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I didn't see your name in the list of email addresses submitted. If you still want an account, please use the form above. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:27, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
