Hi Daniel. Could I have a pair of eyes here please, since I'd rather not have a messy FAC page, I would like the things cleared up beforehand in a quieter way. Thanks, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:49, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll print it out and read it tomorrow (see my PM to you). Daniel 11:05, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi!
Thank you for dropping by on my admin coaching page. I appreciate it :)
We've bumped into each other once before, I'd asked for your guidance related to one editor posting personal information at a young age, which I then took to ANI. Just wanted to say I truly appreciate you taking the time to look over that page. You're an admin I've seen all over, with brilliant contribs in article writing as well. I'm not saying this to flatter you, believe me, just that I'm truly grateful for not only having a fantastic coach but also the chance to learn from some of the most experienced admins around.
Perhaps I'd better stop rambling... Thank you again,xC | ☎ 07:41, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- No problems, I hope I'll drop by often and check up on how
Riana'syou're going :) Daniel 22:37, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Daniel/Archive. Thank you for your support and kind words in my RfA, which passed with 95 support, 1 oppose, and 1 neutral !votes. It means a lot to me to have your individual support and the collective support of so many others. I truly will strive to carry myself at a level representing the trust bestowed in me as I use the mop to address the never-ending drips of discontent in need of caretaker assistance. |
Hey mate, I need some help regarding a content dispute and edit warring situation, that has escalated beyond belief. I tried to slow it down, which worked... for three days. The article, Zadar, is under a edit war (both users have broken 3RR a number of times), between Giovanni Giove and Zenanarh, over issues concerning past/present occupation by Italians and Croatians. The full discussion is on the article talk page, and my talk archives. I was wondering whether mediation might be a good solution, as blocks and protections will definitely cause further escalation, and be a bad idea... --Dark Falls talk 10:20, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Having a brief look, it seems to be a content dispute with discussion occuring, which is a good thing (although the edit warring is unfortunate). Have they tried an article request for comment or Mediation Cabal case yet? Doing so may not be a bad idea :) Daniel 22:37, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks for the help. Just started an RFC on the talk page. Cheers! --Dark Falls talk 22:57, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- No problems :) Daniel 00:27, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks for the help. Just started an RFC on the talk page. Cheers! --Dark Falls talk 22:57, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Special Barnstar | ||
I'm awarding you (Daniel) this barnstar for your great design of your userpage and talk page which I kinda.....erm... copied. Your designs are great, I also award you this for your helpful comments during the incorrect AfD closes of mine which I was in the wrong for. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 10:44, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply] |
- Don't I feel special :) Thanks TSM, Daniel 22:35, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know you reverted yourself but I was a bit concerned to see AT mediation even briefly removed as 'stale'. I have been in discussion with WJBScribe on his talkpage and he assured me that the only reason why we remained unassigned was that the committee happened to be very short-handed, but that we were not forgotten. Fainites 15:07, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- A discussion is currently taking place on the Committee's private mailing list about what's to happen next with this case. Beyond that, I can't say any more. Daniel 22:35, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You voted for Biotechnology and this article is now the current Science Collaboration of the Month! Please help to improve it to match the quality of an ideal Wikipedia science article. |

You have no reason on my talk page unless you leaving me a new message unrelated to what is already there. Why have you been inserting yourself into my business where you don't belong?-- Hornetman16 06:47, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Hornetman - chill, please? Daniel means well, here. - Alison ☺ 06:53, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- In the interests of not contributing to your obvious frustration and anger since your failed RfA, I won't respond. Daniel 06:57, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for participating in my RfA. It was successful, and I am now, may God have mercy on us all, an administrator. Look at all the new buttons! I had heard about 'protect,' 'block user,' and 'delete,' but no one told me about 'kill,' 'eject,' and 'purée.' I appreciate the trust the community has in me, and I'll try hard not to delete the main page or block Jimbo. -FisherQueen (Talk) 18:25, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Danny, you know how Punk boi's block was reset several times due to sockpuppetry, do you know if there was ever any checkuser done? I recall that some of the IPs were open proxies but I'm just wondering how strong the technical evidence was that it actually was him and not some troll trying to get him into further trouble. Thx, Sarah 01:13, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll respond via email, Sarah, if that's OK with you - WP:BEANS and such. Daniel 10:16, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was an honest mistake to include that information. I most certainly should have read the mediation policy more carefully. Please accept my sincere apologies. shotwell 10:07, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- No problems, whatsoever. I vaguely remember doing a similar thing a long while back, although it wasn't MedCom-related (rather, email-related), out of ignorance of not knowing what the general restrictions were :) Cheers, Daniel 10:12, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just a note to drop by Hornetman16's talkpage if you get the chance. See ya 'round the block ~ Riana ⁂ 21:04, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Done and done :) Thanks for the note. Daniel 06:16, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A little over three months ago you semi protected this article in hopes that the vandals would finally leave it alone, but they are back and have totally changed the article twice in the last few weeks. I can see that this will obviously never end and something permanent may need to be put in place. Thanks.--Joebengo 19:35, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Steel359 (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) manually unprotected it, and re-protecting it so soon given his protection message may cross over the fringe of wheeling. To be safe, can you ask him (give a short history of the vandalism, etc.)? Cheers, Daniel 06:17, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for participating in my RFA. Hiberniantears 17:26, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, the Adam Davis page you created a while back was hijacked by someone who put a whole spammy mess in it. I deleted it as WP:CSD#G11 before realizing what had actually happened. You might want to keep an eye on it for a while. —Wknight94 (talk) 22:06, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Eek, terrible spam. Thanks for the note, I'll be sure to continue to check in on it. Cheers, Daniel 04:55, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There's a pretty long list of VandalProof people waiting to be approved; I was just wondering how often it's checked and whatnot. Thanks, ~ thesublime514 • talk • sign 19:04, July 6, 2007 (UTC)
- I've cleared out the list, and added those to the list who I approved. I've left seven that I need to consult further with the moderators about, due to some possible issues. Cheers, Daniel 04:54, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Daniel. Is there anyway you can check if I am approved for VandalProof? I can't remember well, but I think I registered a few months ago. Yes, I know I can download and install the program, but I currently have slow, yet really pricey dial-up (which is already making life hard for me) and 2.5 MB is too much for my patience. I'd like to give VP a try, so if I am not already approved, I'd appreciate if you can approve me, or just leave me a message so I can add myself to the list. Can I have my userpage back?--Hornetman16 02:59, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Ask someone else who was involved with the agreement and is an administrator (ie. Deskana or Riana). The answer from me would be "no", and I presume that isn't the answer you want. Daniel 23:59, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Part of the aggreement is that I get my Userpage back. Why you going back on it?--Hornetman16 01:16, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Unless you want me to make a judgement on whether you've stuck to the agreement (which you probably don't, given that little exposé witht he FBI templates and the fact that I find your proposed userpage to still not meet WP:USER), I'd suggest you don't post to my user talk page again. You may find yourself unable to edit, again. Daniel 01:25, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Considering the determination of at least three editors to keep the page through 2 AfDs and one DRV has this page been Salted or does it need to be recreated and CSD G4-ed again before it can be salted, I'm not sure what the protocol is for salting, I only ask because you closed the DRV. - Both Chuck Taylor (Wrestler) and Chuck Taylor (wrestler), as well as the redirect Chuck Taylor, have been protected :) Cheers, Daniel 00:02, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Could you look at Number87 contribs? Is it just me or do they seem a bit fast to you to? Whispering 16:30, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- What's wrong with them? 'Fast' in what way? Daniel 00:04, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I'm getting ready to file a mediation request, but the dispute in question has involved some users who have participated infrequently and have not been part of the ongoing talk page discussion. Should I add them as involved parties or ask them if they intend to continue participating first? Citadel18080 19:52, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- The latter would probably be best. Daniel 00:05, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Daniel. I apologized to Deskana. I had seen a removal of a deletion request (by another user). The article looks too short and bogus as it talks of "alleged" issues with the group. I did not realize he was an Admin and was denying request, not blanking, until I saw his explanation later. Sorry again. Alexf(t/c) 02:04, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- No problems, I hadn't seen the apology (I thought you hadn't realised the problems). We all make minor errors, I just thought I'd draw your attention to the issue so it could be avoided in the future (again, this was under the impression that you weren't aware of it :|). No need to apologize - I'm the one who should be apologizing for wasting your time :) Daniel 02:06, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just as a note, did you remove G1ggy (talk · contribs) from the list (for security reasons, mainly)? Giggy UCP 04:17, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, I removed the G1ggy account when I approved the Giggy one. Daniel 04:19, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do I need to submit a new request for VP when my username changes? I was Wyv but I usurped a single letter name. :) U 04:52, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes. Your new username won't be approved for use, so a moderator will need to change it. Daniel 04:53, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Daniel, I'm not sure if this is the right place to contact you; if it isn't, then accept my apologies. I was added to the list of "Approved Users" for VandalProof, but the application will not let me sign in. It picks up my username, then when I click on "Verify Authorization" it does nothing. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks very much, Neranei T/C 05:50, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Have you logged into English Wikipedia in Internet Explorer? Sometimes I find that it works when problems like this occur. Daniel 07:44, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, I have logged in and out several times, but it is not picking up my username, and when I try to sign in, it has 4 "scipt errors" then does nothing after I click "verify authorization". Thanks for your help! Neranei T/C 12:48, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I dunno about the login problem. The script errors are mentioned in the various threads of User talk:AmiDaniel/VP/Bugs, so you may find the answers helpful. I will have to shunt you off to Eagle 101 on the login issue, as I have no clue :| Cheers, and sorry, Daniel 07:53, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
