[edit]Hello, Dexter515251. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.-- Ponyobons mots 18:13, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
- This was not promotion. Just additional bio info. Please let me know how to restore the page. Why would you do this?! Dexter515251 (talk) 21:39, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- Your response does not address your conflict of interest. Note that article was deleted according to community consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steve Shapiro (2nd nomination).-- Ponyobons mots 19:07, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- I am sorry that I made the error of editing my own page. I did not understand that conflict... However I had no chance to defend the deletion of the entire entry. I am contributor to a Grammy-winning album of the year, publisher of multiple articles, have been widely reviewed by many international publications. That is not worthy of an entry? I have just found numerous colleagues with far fewer major credits who still maintain a Wiki entry. Wiki deletion rules thus seem very arbitrary. I would appreciate the chance to add more credible 3rd party references and have the page restored. Dexter515251 (talk) 15:30, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
- Cannot understand why there was not a warning about the COI content, which could simply be removed? In 2008, this page was reviewed and approved as below:
- Strong Keep. He has worked with a considerable number of notable jazz and rock artists, meets WP:V. If this is deleted, we'll have to delete things like Morris Pert and Malcolm Mortimore which is just not on.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 15:43, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Weak Keep Seems to meet WP:MUSIC through his album releases. Checks out at label website. SingCal 01:44, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Meets minimum criteria of WP:MUSIC. — BQZip01 — talk 06:31, 1 March 2008 (UTC) Dexter515251 (talk) 16:49, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
