STEPAN NECHAI, the honored artist of Ukraine

Nechai Stepan Omelyanovich (years of life of the Honored Artist of Ukraine 11.XI.1941-19.V.2003),

and still reveal to the viewer a talented Ukrainian painter through the prism of years. With his talent and tireless work Stepan Nechai forever imprinted his name in the history of art, culture of his native land - Ternopil region, Ukraine and the world.

The name of the painter Nechai Stepan Omelyanovich is listed in the London edition of the catalog in 1989 "Russian and Soviet artists from 1900 to 1980."

The future artist was born on November 11, 1941, in Ukraine, in a small city Zboriv, Ternopil region, in Western Ukraine.

After graduating from middle school in 1958 entered the Kostandi Art School in the city of Odessa (Ukraine), then renamed after M.Hrekov. In 1963 he graduated from the Odessa Art School. In 1972 he graduated from the Department of Painting at the Kyiv Art Institute, today the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (ukrainian: NAOMA).

Stepan's teachers were prominent artists, artists of the realistic school of painting, Anatoly Plamenytskyi, Volodymyr Kostetskyi, Viktor Shatalin. It should be noted that for successful training Stepan Nechai was awarded a special scholarship named after Vasyl Surikov, also trained in Leipzig (Germany). In 1972 started his career in Ternopil, in the art and production plant of the Art Fund of Ukraine. Subsequently married, wife Svitlana Arkadievna Soroka, then S.A Nechai-Soroka. Children: Kira Nechai, Vladislav Nechai. He worked in various genres of thematic painting, landscape, portrait, still life, painting. He was a bright master of easel painting of the school of realism. Subsequently, Stepan Nechai mastered the complex genre diorama (wide-format thematic, large-plan picture). He constantly participated in all-Union, Ukrainian, international exhibitions and plenaries, which took place in Moscow, Penza, Kyiv, Lviv, Ternopil, Sliven, Paris, Lisbon, etc. In 1976 Stepan Omelyanovich Nechai joins the National Union of Members of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. In 2000 R.S. awarded the honorary title Honored Artist of Ukraine. After the death of 19.05.2003 leaves behind a significant artistic heritage.

Personal exhibitions of the painter Stepan Nechai were organized in Ukraine in 1980, 1991, 1992, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2012, and recently 11.11.2021 Ternopil Regional Art Museum.
