Adoption offer

[edit]
{{adoptoffer}}

A tag has been placed on Shane Dawson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 01:25, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shane Dawson

[edit]

I'm not sure that his Youtube channel would do any better as a subject. Whatever your subject, what you have to establish is notability, a requirement to have a Wikipedia article, which is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and press releases. Your article only cited last.fm (where anyone can post) and Dawson's own sites. The question is, have other people, independent of Dawson or his Youtube channel, thought him interesting and important enough to write about? It's easy to put things on Youtube and claim to be an "Internet celebrity", but Wikipedia needs independent evidence to confirm. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 12:46, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion contested: Higashi-Iwatsuki Station

[edit]

Hello Dyaa, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Higashi-Iwatsuki Station, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 19:02, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal patrol

[edit]

Usually vandalism patrol starts with your watch list, by using both Popups and reviewing the prior revision for vandalism. It looks like you have done that before with twinkle as seen in your contribution history. Vandal fighters can also review the recent changes at RecentChanges and the task force for recent change patrol can be found at Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol. For full vandal fighting, the implementation of the WP:Rollback feature, and use of WP:Huggle are required. Both these functions require the permission rights Rollbacker given by an administer. I will continue to look over your recent revisions and contributions, and if you could read up on both Wikipedia:Rollback feature and the program WP:Huggle, and the importance of WP:reverting only vandalism,we can see about getting you started. The article Wanna be a bride has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable book lacking GHits and GNEWS. Appears to fail WP:NOTBOOK.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ttonyb (talk) 23:37, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Wanna be a bride, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wanna be a bride. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. ttonyb (talk) 23:53, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Contract (animated short film)

[edit]
Hi Dyaa. It looks like the article may have already been created at Contact (animated short film). Are you sure these aren't the same film? The film names and some of the information is different; yet, have a lot of similarities. If this is the case, it may need only to have the relevant missing information merged and a redirect created from this article. Kindly Calmer Waters 06:55, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They are, as you said, two distinct films made at two separate years. Watch them on Youtube here and here (they are very interesting by the way, you will enjoy it :)). Dyaa (talk) 16:32, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, we just need to find a reliable source to validate the award winning film fact and all should be good. I'll see what I can come up with. Calmer Waters 23:57, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
