I'm ready....

I'm ready for the test...... Rkr1991 (Wanna chat?) 09:54, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello... I was supposed to take the test yesterday... Am ready to take it anytime... Rkr1991 (Wanna chat?) 03:59, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Re the test: Sorry I'm so late, I was extremely busy on Friday and Saturday. I'll get writing the test now.
Re the adminship: Awww, thanks! Regretfully, I don't think I should run for adminship yet. I have a lot of school-related responsibilities which will keep me busy off-wiki for a while to come. Maybe in December I'll accept a nomination, although I may run earlier if nagged enough. ;) Cheers, Dylan620 (contribs, logs, review) 20:23, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Exam created: User:Dylan620/Adoption/Rkr1991/Final exam --Dylan620 (contribs, logs, review) 21:21, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Wow, nice little quiz thing there. Interesting. Good answers too, Rkr. I'd check 19, the DYK criteria - articles can be new or recently expanded, and there's another important requirement. DYK is often misunderstood, and it's a very easy way to get involved in content areas - our new contributors often don't realise that their creation could easily appear on the main page. Unfortunately, the nomination procedure is somewhat fiddly, and hence people often don't realise how easy it is to meet the prerequisites. You said that you would research it, so I leave you to it - if you need help, please give me a shout.
Rkr, I expect you're wondering who the hell I am; forgive me; I just popped in here to see what Dyan was up to, and couldn't resist replying a little. Keep up the good stuff, cheers,  Chzz  ►  00:03, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
P.S. my curiosity was piqued by the question about if Huggle required rollback - I thought that it wasn't quite as simple as a yes/no, so I checked with the author, and got the following reply  Chzz  ►  16:01, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
Depends what you mean by "require". Huggle is quite capable of operating without rollback, otherwise it wouldn't be able to revert vandalism by multiple users. On this wiki, Huggle's configuration page directs it to refuse to work for any user account lacking rollback; this is because of paranoia about misuse, not for any technical reason. Gurch (talk) 01:50, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
  • Thanks for your comments, Chzz. Regarding that Huggle thing, I really don't think so much complications are required. It was more of a question to test my HTML knowledge than anything... Rkr1991 (Wanna chat?) 09:50, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh, it was just an 'out of interest' thing, that's all - I remembered that huggle didn't actually require rollback - there's even a 'huggle light' specifically for EN users without rollback, I think.
HTML knowledge? You mean Wiki markup?  Chzz  ►  10:08, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes, the fonts and colours and stuff... Rkr1991 (Wanna chat?) 12:30, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
I'll wait on your answer to the question on the DYK criteria before proceeding, if you don't mind. --Dylan620 (contribs, logs, review) 04:59, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm all done... I didn't change any answer other than that, assuming I wasn't allowed to...Rkr1991 (Wanna chat?) 11:27, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Congratulations, Dylan620! For your kindness to others, your hard work around the wiki, and for being a great user, you have been awarded the "Wikipedian of the Day" award for today, 7, November 2009! Keep up the great work!--Coldplay Expert 04:24, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Note: You could also recieve the "Wikipedian of the Week award for this week!

You may have not know yet since you have been gone for a while but User:Meaghan (used to be midnight commet) has discontinued the WOTD program in favor of a new program Shining Stars So I have revived it. Anyway good job!--Coldplay Expert 04:24, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Aww, thank you! How's "What If" going, by the way? --Dylan620 (contribs, logs, review) 12:33, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Oh your welcome but What If is stuck in the mud, I think I have a better chance at getting White Shadows to become an article than Waht If. Oh well.--Coldplay Expert 18:02, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you so much....

Thank you so much.... I learned so much from you. However, I want to keep pestering you with doubts any time I get them, so please excuse me in advance. One more thing. Though I do not want to be an Admin in the near future, I feel knowledge won't hurt, so I would like to go for some Admin coaching. Will oyu give it to me, or suggest someone who will ...? BTW, I have a doubt in question 1...Rkr1991 (Wanna chat?) 17:19, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Um....Its been a while but....

Hey Dylan I was wondering, do you think that it would be a good idea for me to get adopted by someone? I should have 2 months ago and not I regred it. I have lost standing with A LOT of other editors because of my actions back in July and August and even September. THis is big because I hope to apply for an RFA sometime down the road next year. (Maybe after im eliminated in the wikicup) Most of my friends think that I would be sucessfull in an RFA next year but I have my doubts (like that block that I got for "abusing multiple IP's or accounts" even though I did no sock puppeting at all) things like that wuld kill me in an RFA. While I would get the votes form LSF, Nodegrant, 2012 ect. nost people will probably not trust me and I myself think that I am sill a newbie. So as stated above do you tink that I should be adopted and If I should, do you think that you can? (I know you have a busy life with school and all) Anyway thanks!--Coldplay Expert 01:38, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

TPS reply: Yes, I think you should. I've seen your contributions lately, and many of them borderline WP:MYSPACE and seeing Wikipedia as a game. I think getting an adopter would be the best thing for you right now. If I were you, I wouldn't think about an RfA until as early as next September/October if you can improve your knowledge of Wikipedia's policies/guidelines, as well as getting some articles finished. Cheers! :) iMatthew talk at 01:47, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I know tons of my edits ate WP:MYSPACE (just look at spongefrog's archives) however I have been working on that. I do not see wikipedia as a game at all though. And who do you think would accept me? PS I have been working of SEVERAL articles to get to GA and FA status, just take a look at my userpage.--Coldplay Expert 01:54, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Those articles are way too advanced for someone just starting off editing articles. GA is pretty hard to get, and FA is a killer. FA's can take months of preparation, so don't think that you'll get all of those done in a snap. You'll be lucky to get five of them done within a year. They're both long and time consuming processes. When I mentioned your myspace-y actions, I was mainly thinking of your WOTD program. I think it might paint an awkward picture in anyone who sees it's mind. Those used to be given out by some of Wikipedia's top-editors, but when anybody who wanted to started picking it up, it began to look like a game of "these are my best friends, so I'll just give them an award." IMHO, dropping the program would be a good idea for now, while you're working on getting your feet off the ground. iMatthew talk at 02:00, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Actually the people that I have given the WOTD award out to are people that I have never met before. I just thought it was a good way to sperad WP:WIKILOVE But I guess ill drop it if you really want me to. (even though i would rather keep it going). I have no intention of getting probably even ONE article to GA or FA status. I just have thoses as goals for the future. I have however made major contributions to several of thoses articles. Just take a look at Battle of the Netherlands for example. I did nominate it for GA status but due to the mega backlog it is still waiting a reviewer. I am working on the World War II aricle and I am doing pretty good at it. Now I belive (please dont get mad) that you are thinking that im a wiki-infant/child but im not. I know some policy and I have created some articles. I dont think that the World War II related articles are too advanced. In fact I have been recearching this stuff since, well my entire life. I mostly update the images on those articles and add some badly needed refrances. Not only that but I have also become a vandal fighter. But this all pails in comparison to editors like you but at least im trying :)--Coldplay Expert 02:09, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
