Wiki-project Delaware

[edit]

I've noticed a few articles there that have been requested for reassessment for a while, one of which I've been involved in for a few years. It would be a conflict of interest for me to rate the article I've been most associated with on the list, but how can I get added to the project to assess other articles for Delaware? Superman7515 (talk) 01:58, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Non-article Delaware pages, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Non-article Delaware pages has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Non-article Delaware pages, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Was just some stupid little userbox that I had found (though it was set up for Sabres fans), and I just made a few modifications to it for me when he became a Flyer. Discussion at WikiProject New Jersey

[edit]

Hi, EaglesFanInTampa, User:Nightscream and I had a disagreement over certain parts of NJ municipality articles; because the discussion could potentially affect hundreds of articles, we decided to bring the discussion to WikiProject New Jersey. I would value your input in the discussion, which you can find here. Thanks, A Stop at Willoughby (talk) 15:13, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Phillies userbox

[edit]

Just wanted to let you know that we are surveying wiki Phillies fans to determine whether they want the Phillies' logo incorporated into the userbox ({{User:UBX/MLB-Phillies}}), or want to use a generic version. If you you want to comment, hit the RFC discussion page here. Thanks. BillTunell (talk) 17:27, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed compromise aimed at consensus at WP:NJ

[edit]

Hi, EaglesFanInTampa. As you may remember, way back in August I started a thread at WikiProject New Jersey to discuss the "Federal, state, and county representation" subsections in New Jersey municipality articles, as User:Nightscream and I had a substantial disagreement on that subject. Approximately two months later, we've hammered out a compromise that we mostly agree upon, and presently I am seeing if there is a consensus for this compromise. I'm leaving this message here not as canvassing, but because you participated in this discussion previously and perhaps would be interested in weighing in on the compromise. The full discussion is here, and the proposed compromise is here. Thanks in advance for participating! A Stop at Willoughby (talk) 03:21, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Giants 1888-1889

[edit]

The New York Giants won the "World's Championship Series" in those years. Adding those to the World Series wins list in the infobox is perhaps questionable, but it's not altogether false. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots05:12, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I dunno, Bugs. I see where you're coming from, but it does set an awful precedent by doing so. Does that mean teams like the Cards (then the "St. Louis Browns") and the Braves (then the "Boston Beaneaters") would have their "World Championships" included too, even though the link List of World Series champions doesn't include anything prior to 1901? What about other teams that can make cases to be tops in the baseball world, like the Cubs (then White Stockings) of 1882, even though those were called exhibition games? It could be argued they were the best team in baseball that year, even though their series against the AA's Reds was unofficial. I just see it confusing to the occasional reader that sees on the Giants, Cubs, or anyone's page one thing under "World Series wins", but find out the World Series didn't start until 1903. Again, you and I may know the difference, but would the average Joe or Jane? EaglesPhilliesFanInTampa 13:30, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The modern World Series started in 1903. MLB only recognizes the NL-AL contests. There are plenty of older sources that would regard the Giants as World Series champs in 1888-89. However, it could confuse the readers to include those Series in the team totals. Too bad there isn't a separate infobox section for it. Basically it would apply to 1884, 86-87-88-89, as 1882, 85, 90 all ended in ties or disputes. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots13:36, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That I completely agree with you on. Maybe there should be an additional line to the infoboxes for the teams it would apply to for something like "other championship titles" linking to List of pre-World Series baseball champions, as not to confuse others. Solves both probs, don't you think? EaglesPhilliesFanInTampa 16:11, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like it would. It would also allow for the Temple Cup, which ran for 4 years under fairly consistent rules, better-staged than the AA-NL contests in my opinion, and kind of paving the way to the modern Series in some sense. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots21:50, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chesapeake & Delaware Canal Bridge photograph

[edit]

I noticed that the same photo you uploaded of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal Bridge ([1]) is the same image found here on Panoramio ([2]) and on Google Earth.

It is listed there as being "copyright August 15, 2007 by gkaufman". I was wondering if you are the one who actually uploaded it there. If not, you may wish to contact Panoramio and/or Google so you receive proper credit.

Jersey emt (talk) 21:38, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads-up. No, I didn't upload it, nor do I know who that is. I have to admit, however, I'm not familiar with Panoramio. How do I take care of that issue? EaglesPhilliesFanInTampa 02:19, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not familiar with Panoramio either. I was just browsing through Google Earth, saw the photo of that bridge and thought it looked very familiar.
I did some searching and found this page on Panoramio. It instructs you to send an email to [email protected] and include the photo ID (3948142), along with proof that the photo is yours (they suggest the original URL or the original photo file). They say they will either delete the photo immediately whether or not you are a user there, or they can change the name under the photo to yours and move it to your area in Panoramio (you need to have an account there for this obviously).
Jersey emt (talk) 19:16, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Are you familiar with auto racing at all? The champion almost always has the right to carry the #1 the following season, with NASCAR being a notable exception. I agree that whoever added the current statement didn't explain it well; I'll try to fix it up. But in the future you might want to stick to editing pages on topics that you have some familiarity with. 128.114.59.182 (talk) 03:53, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it was pretty clear, even to people unfamiliar with auto racing. And please stop linking policies unnecessarily in your comments; it's extremely passive-aggressive and demeaning. 128.114.59.182 (talk) 23:32, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I found your name on the WikiProject Skyscrapers page and I was hoping you may have an interest in helping me improve the Bloomberg Tower article. I've written a draft in my sandbox here and would appreciate your feedback, specifically whether or not I've written enough detail about the exterior design of the building. 2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of bridges in Florida, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bahia Honda. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:10, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
