License tagging for File:PD 5001 SPQuick 2005.tif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:PD 5001 SPQuick 2005.tif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Thank you for uploading File:Hei-VAP Precision ML G3B.tif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Acather96 (talk) 16:43, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Bullseye.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Bullseye.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 04:49, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:RZR 2052 control.tif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:RZR 2052 control.tif. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 17:32, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Image problems

[edit]

Please stop uploading copyright images here as we do not accept such images and your fair-use claim is invalid because these are replaceable images. Replaceability is just one of the 10 requirements for the non-free content that we use. This is policy and these images fail that requirement. Also please don't upload copyright images to the commons as they only accept freely licenced images and make no exceptions for any fair-use claims, so File:Heidolph Germany.jpg has been nominated for deletion because it is clearly copyright of the company, being copied from their website, and you did not get their permission. However, if you can get the company to give their permission to use any of these images under a free licence, you should ask them to follow the procedure found at WP:PERMISSION in which case a special OTRS ticket will be added to an image proving that. You may find it useful to read my image copyright information page for a better understanding of these issues. Good luck ww2censor (talk) 18:11, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Solution

[edit]

I have submitted a Wikipedia:Declaration of consent/ image upload to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org; photosubmission@wikimedia.org. I havent heard anything back yet? This is in regards to the 9 total images I have uploaded. They have not been undelted. Evaporation Expert (talk) 18:13, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is quite a backlog for the OTRS volunteers so you will need to have some patience, but when they get to your images, assuming the permission is acceptable, the images will be restored and an OTRS ticket added to each to confirm the permission. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 22:46, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There has been no changes made to the images I uploaded. Evaporation Expert (talk) 18:15, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Heidolph Logo.JPG

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Heidolph Logo.JPG.

Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 05:08, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How to verify copyright permission for article Heidolph

[edit]

Hello, Evaporation Expert.

Thank you for your interest in donating material from http://www.heidolphbrinkmann.com/fileadmin/media/prospekte/Gesamtkat_USA_Silent_Blending.pdf to Wikipedia. I see that the article contains snippets of text from other official sources as well. I'm afraid that, just as with the images, we need to verify the license for this content. The article has been blanked to allow time for that verification to proceed.

The simplest way to verify is to place a release on that external website putting its text into public domain or co-licensing it under CC-BY-SA and GFDL, which permit modification and reuse, even commercially, as long as authorship credit is given. This release is irrevocable and must continue to be displayed, or the material may need to be removed. A statement such as the following would be sufficient: "The contents of this website are available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 and the GNU Free Documentation License, unversioned with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts." If you decide to take this route, please put a link to that release on Talk:Heidolph so we can restore the contents.

Alternatively, you may choose to send an e-mail to the Wikimedia Foundation from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL. There is a boilerplate release form at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries which can be helpful. Please provide a clear link to the website in your e-mail and specify by name the articles on Wikipedia in which the material is being used. To speed processing of that, it would probably be easiest if you just replied to one of the e-mails abotu imgaes you've already sent. Please make a note that you've done this on Talk:Heidolph to help guard against premature deletion of the duplicated and closely paraphrased content from the page. You can compose a note or very simply paste the following on the talk page, brackets and all: {{OTRS pending}}

If you decide you don't wish to release the material into public domain or under the terms of CC-BY-SA and GFDL, you are welcome to rewrite the text from scratch at this temporary page. As long as the material is otherwise compliant with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, it will be used to replace the previous contents. Please leave a note at Talk:Heidolph saying you have done so.

If you are not familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, you may wish to review Wikipedia:Starting an article or Wikipedia:Your first article. If you are closely related to the subject matter, you may also want to read our conflict of interest guidelines to get an idea how best to proceed. It may be necessary once permission is verified to address other concerns in the text, if it is otherwise inconsistent with our policies and guidelines.

We apologize for the additional steps necessary, but as copyright is a matter of legal concern, we must ensure that we not only protect the rights of copyright holders, but also guard the Wikipedia project against inadvertent infringement.

The article will be revisited in about a week to see what additional steps have been taken or may be necessary. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let me know at my talk page. We also have a help desk which is typically manned around the clock by volunteers.

Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:58, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Updated Talk: Heidolph

[edit]

Hello Moonriddengirl, Thank you for the alternatives. I have updated the Talk: Heidolph with the release. I hope this takes care of hte copyright permissions. Please let me know if I need to complete alternative steps? Thank you Evaporation Expert (talk) 20:21, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Since we do not yet have verification of permission by the processes set out above and sufficient time has passed since the placement of the notice, the article Heidolph has been deleted for copyright concerns. This deletion is not necessarily permanent. If you have already sent a letter to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) and GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (if you are not the copyright holder or have co-authored the material, release under CC-BY-SA-compatible license alone is sufficient), the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed by the Wikimedia Communications committee. Likewise, if you have not yet sent a letter, you still may (or resend it, if you believe your original may have been lost), and the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed.

As Wikipedia does not require proof of identity on account creation, it is essential that we receive external proof of authorization in order to ensure that we remain compliant with US Copyright law. It is also essential that we verify that copyright holders understand the extent of the release they are authorizing, in that our licenses permit modification and reuse in any forum, even commercial publication, as long as authorship credit is maintained and future copies are compatibly licensed.

Please note that once permission is verified, the material may be evaluated and altered to meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Although we appreciate donations, we cannot guarantee that material donated will be retained.

Thank you. Andy Walsh (talk) 18:58, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. A tag has been placed on File:Hei-End Magnetic Stirrer.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
