Tool of the week

  • User:Teester/EntityShape.js - a userscript that adds an input box to a Wikidata page wherein you can enter an EntitySchema (such as E10). When you click "Check", checks whether each statement and property conforms to the schema. It then displays a summary at the top of the Item for each property indicating whether they conform or not. It also adds a badge to each statement and each property on the page indicating whether they conform or not.

Week 2 / age497[edit]

Hello,

In the assignment for this week I made changes in the "ESG" article in Wikipedia. I made changes on the section of Firms where is talks about the implications of ESG in companies. I added information highlighting the financial challenges that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face when adopting ESG practices. Specifically, I noted that while large corporations have the resources to invest in sustainable technologies and practices, SMEs often struggle with the upfront costs associated with these initiatives. By doing this I learned the process on how to change/add information in articles in Wikipedia and the correct way to do it. Looking forward to Week 3.

  1. On contribution, by adding a reference to the official FIVB volleyball rules, I enhanced the credibility and accuracy of this description of rule changes, providing readers with an authoritative source of information.
  2. Through this process, I learned how to integrate primary sources with existing Wikipedia content, and how to properly cite official documents to support and verify information in the article. This practice not only improved the academic value of the article but also deepened my understanding of the evolution of volleyball rules

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for the inaugural event of the beginner-focused Wikicurious series at Civic Hall! All are welcome, and newcomers and aspiring editors are especially encouraged to attend.

Registration via Eventbrite is required for building entry, and is also encouraged on the event page on Meta.

Week 2 / Jb022801[edit]

Hello everyone. I edited the SSENSE article about a e-commerce establishment that retails designer fashion and streetwear. I made two edits. The first edit was an addition to the text elaborating on SSENSE's overcoming of obstacles. The second edit consisted of including a citation. Here is the diff link [1]. Throughout this process I learned the importance of reliable sources because I noticed many of the references in this article to be from blogs. This resulted in the article being quite generic, broad, and ultimately unreliable. I will apply this lesson to my research project in class to ensure a reliable and comprehensive research paper. @Jb022801 Please assign yourself this article in the Dashboard and per the assignment add a sentence or two to your edit, as adding a citation alone is not as helpful as adding a sentence or two along with the citation. Week 2 / Ha2875[edit]

This week, I edited Data processing by adding in extensive reading that might help the readers to understand the corresponding concept. Link to the diff. It was a very interesting experience with playing with all the functionality of editting mode.
