Shackleton and Parliament
People stand for Parliament so they can sit there. In Britain they usually don't "run" for Parliament, that seems to be a North American usage. I am not trying to be difficult but it rerads really strangely now to this native British speaker/writer. Dabbler (talk) 20:13, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think you're being difficult at all, and I appreciate your advice. One of the things the earlier contributors talked about was how U.S. spellings and foreign language might creep in unnoticed. You've already made some good fixes such as replacing "semester" with "term" and noticing that all the college graduates were Old Alleynians. A further re-write of the "run" sentence is in order. Let's have another whack at it. Finetooth (talk) 20:24, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Winston Churchill said that the UK and US were two peoples divided by a common language (or words to that effect). I forgot to mention this before, but WP:GAN can always use Good Article reviewers - so if you are interested, please consider helping out, thanks Ruhrfisch ><>°° 17:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- You know what, I put the "run" line in the article -- and should have known better as I've studied the UK electoral system in depth. Really, it is much more difficult to use the correct English usage, coming from an American standpoint, than I had imagined. It's good to have a "native" English speaker to help out. Lazulilasher (talk) 17:53, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- That particular sentence has had a lot of attention. We can each take credit for 25 percent of it. Perhaps later, if you take Ernest to FAC or add fresh material, we can ask Dabbler to have another look for Americanisms. Finetooth (talk) 18:10, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Maps and dots and GA
Thanks for planning to do GA reviews. Your guess was exactly right - the state locator maps were all calibrated so that the dot appears automatically based on the latitude and longitutde. The parameter in the Chester, Pennsylvania {{Geobox City}} is "| map1_locator = Pennsylvania", which tells it to put the dot on the calibrated PA map. That way one basemap can be used for every place in a state, instead of each having to have its own unique dot map. If you want to, you can also put dot(s) on maps with x and y parameters (measured in pixels). For example, {{Cogan House Covered Bridge Map}} does this. There the x and y positions are given by "left: 148px; top: 96px" and the dot is Image:Locator Red.svg set to be 8 pixels wide. I was thinking about your question and figured out that you can superimpose any image on another - see User:Ruhrfisch/map for some inset maps I am playing with (if you click on either map, you get the full original).
The problem with a linear feature like a canal or stream is that one dot is not a great representation of it. Dincher made maps based on my PA basemap for the four linear state parks (see Delaware Canal State Park and Image:Delaware Canal State Park2.PNG). You can also add more than one dot to a map - see {{State parks of Pennsylvania map}} (120 dots) and {{State parks of Illinois map}} (I lost count). I also think you could draw the course of the canal as an image and superimpose it as a "dot" on a basemap (it would need to have a transparent background, but that is one option in Paint.NET). I made transparent red X's and teepees and forts for {{Black Hawk War Map}}.
Hope this helps and ask away as you have more questions, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:18, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- I am not sure how small the canal is - on Plunketts Creek (Loyalsock Creek), which is tiny at only 6 miles (10 km) long) I had the dot at the mouth on the PA locator map. I also thought of having a two dot system - one color for the mouth and another for the source, but at this scale for Plunketts, one dot probably covers both. Maybe you could have one dot for each terminus? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 14:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Given the uncertainty, I would go for the dot on the southern terminus. I looked at the Penn Dot historic maps and Penn Pilot photos for Delaware County from the 1930s (both are linked here), but did not see anything that was obviously the canal. There are 1920s USGS topo maps online that I did not check. I noticed the web page cited as an External link mentions an 1848 Ash map, and also says "THE CANAL BEGAN UNDER WHAT IS NOW THE SPROUL BRIDGE ON RT. 320 IN SWARTHMORE." and says it was "over two miles long". Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:50, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- FWIW, Canals and Railroads of the Mid-Atlantic States, a Hagley publication, does not give a mileage for the Leiper Canal. However, the canal is depicted on one of the accompanying maps, and it tallies with the description given in the external link. From the scale, I would estimate the northern segment of the canal proper to be about 0.6 mi. and the southern about 1.1 mi., with roughly 0.5 mi. of slackwater from the quarries to the first lock and about the same between the two segments. Sorry I haven't come forward to work on the Brandywine yet — this spring has been terribly busy for me. Choess (talk) 22:26, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- See also this webpage, which gives a length for the canal of 2.6 mi., although I'm not entirely clear as to the primary source; you might contact the author. Choess (talk) 22:46, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Let me know if I can be of assistance with the map(s). The Census map with streams and county subdivisions turned on and most everything else turned off would probably work as a base map of the area if you want to do a closeup. I looked for a canal infobox, but found none so far. Not sure if you could use the Geobox River - length and coordinates and elevation of source and mouth would work. Re: LOCE/R
Can you, please, remove the requests for Bengali Language Movement and Shahbag? Both are FAs now and, in all probability, will not need a serious copyedit any soon. Sorry to have left the requests still posted. Aditya(talk • contribs) 03:01, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Copyedit request
Finetooth, thanks for your message on my talk page. A copyedit isn't necessary for The Wiggles at this time, since it has recently been upgraded to good-article status. If it requires it to get to FA-status, I'll resubmit it. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 04:01, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Um, never mind! I changed my mind, because I'd now like to see this article get to FA-status and after thinking about for a day, realize that a copyedit by you guys would help. So I'm taking you up on the offer you made on my talk page to expedite the copyedit. Thanks. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 02:08, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Good enough. I'll have a go at it as soon as I can, probably later today or tomorrow if you've got it posted at LoCE. Finetooth (talk) 20:26, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Finetooth, thanks for your hard work on this copyedit. As Capt. Feathersword would say, "Argh, you're a good bloke!" ;) I will take your suggestions into consideration. I'll see what I can do to make the clarifications you recommend. Now that you've gone through the article with such precision, I'll do the same. Then I'll nominate it for FA-status! Again, thanks for your assistance. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 21:41, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Recruitment drive
Thanks for your response and thanks for putting it on my talk page. I did miss it, which is odd, because it was on my watchlist. But lately there seems to be a plethora of edits to articles on my watchlist--too many to keep track of.
I honestly don't know if I want to join the LoCE. I don't really have time for the little that I do on Wikipedia, and I really hate the hassles. And I really don't understand why "logical quotation" is the style. To be honest, I think it's stupid. Why Wikipedia should go against the rules of virtually every other publication is beyond me. But that's another thing I don't want to get into a hassle about. I can have my opinion and leave it at that. I'll check in on what the LoCE's projects are but I don't see myself diving in too deep. Thanks again for your reply. I wonder why there weren't more? ~ InkQuill 04:30, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Internet capitalisation
In the Shapinsay article, you keep capitalising the word "internet". This word is not capitalised in UK publications such as The Guardian, The Times and BBC publications/websites. It shouldn't be capitalised in Wikipedia articles that use British English. Lurker (said · done) 19:44, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Lurker, Thanks for explaining the no-cap on "internet". I had not run into that UK-US difference before, and I'm glad to learn about it. I will leave it lower-cased in UK articles from now on. Finetooth (talk) 20:09, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. Some US sources, such as Wired also use lower-case, too. Lurker (said · done) 11:43, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Princess Beatrice of the United Kingdom
Hello Finetooth—this is to let you know that I've just proofread Princess Beatrice of the United Kingdom, which you recently copyedited. I had very little to do! Please let me know if you disagree with any of my amendments. Best wishes, talkGiler 12:18, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments. You're quite right about the spaced endash—I did look in WP:MOSNUM but got confused by what I read! I think I was looking at year dates, which don't have spaces, instead of birth and death dates, which do. Now I know.
- Re capitalisation of Queen, King etc., the MOS reference is here; on reading it, I concluded that caps were preferable. Victoria was a queen; but she was the Queen. I strove for consistency throughout. Incidentally, Buckingham Palace always refers to Queen Elizabeth II as "The Queen" (both capitalised)! Thanks again for your constructive comments; if I can be of any further help, do let me know. Best wishes, talkGiler 18:19, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, that should be Beardmore Glacier. Minna Bluff is much closer to the coast; it was the staging depot - they laid in the stores there in the first season and then picked them up to distribute along the route the next season. I'll see if I can find a map somewhere to show you where Minna Bluff is. Good work on the map, I never felt up to tackling it. Yomanganitalk 18:25, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

- I noticed your edits on the map replacement - you can always upload a new version in Commons (link towards the bottom of the page) and the most current one is used. You might also want to WP:BYC to make sure the newest version is seen. Hope this helps and is not just stuff you already knew, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 19:48, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I have been working on this article for a few weeks and I plan to bring it to PR by the middle of Feb. If you have the time, I would like to request a thorough copy edit from you. I have to still write the last section called "Modern literature" which will take me about two weeks. I though, if you are free, this may be a good time to start copy edits on the rest of the content. Please tell me when you will be free and give me a day or two to do a screening, though. This article will be a new challenge to you, with plenty of vernacular terms (most of which have been explained or linked), though a few remain unexplained. An important part of the copy editing will be to smartly reduce content without loosing information. This is where someone like you would come in.thanks. UCR
Thanks for your great copyediting of the UCR article! Just to let you know, I'm not quite settled on the content that should go into the last paragraph of the history section. I was thinking of removing the last two sentences of that paragraph, but I am not sure of that or of the rest of the material up to the Traub quote. I don't think it needs to be deleted but I'm not sure where else it should go. Beyond the double impact of "Tidal Wave II" and Prop 209, the most significant thing to occur in relation to UCR was the approval of their med school, and "History" should perhaps end on that note. Other than that, the "Campus" section and information under "Academics#organization" and "research and economic impact" I wanted to render more coherently, if not more completely. Just wanted to let you know in case you started copyediting these sections and I started moving things around, deleting or otherwise changing content. More map
Re your Shackleton map. I'm working on the Terra Nova Expedition article and would like to incorporate a map giving an overview of this expedition's various journeys. The expedition worked only in the Ross Sea sector, so the general continental outline map, as used for Shackleton, is on too small a scale - most of the Terra Nova journeys wouldn't show up. Is there any possibility of a producing map of just the Ross Sea sector (as shown by the green-shaded segment in the map on the Ross Dependency), on a scale that would identify features such as Ross Island, McMurdo Sound, Victoria Land etc? Any ideas as to how to get such a map would be welcome. Brianboulton (talk) 15:21, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- While I was writing the above I got a message from Youmangani drawing my attention to a map of Ross Island & surrounds, on http://tiger.gsfc.nasa.gov/images/RossArea.jpg He thinks this might be public domain because it's from Nasa. Although not ideal I could definitely use this map, with revised markings and captions. Does this sound feasible? Brianboulton (talk) 15:47, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, I'd be glad to help if I can, but I won't be available for a couple of days. I have an article up for GA, and I'm in the middle of making a complicated addition to it as quickly as possible. I believe Youmangani is right in thinking that NASA images are public domain and OK for us to use. I'm not sure about the possibility of an enlarged and modified Shackleton map. I got the image from the Commons from someone who had gotten the base map from the CIA, modified it, and added text in French. I removed the French text and replaced some of it with English. This was my first attempt at mapmaking. I've made four or five canal maps since then, but I'm still learning. My mentor was User:Ruhrfisch, who knows a great deal about mapmaking and has done many good ones for Wikipedia. I will send you a further note when I get done with my GA project. Finetooth (talk) 17:14, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Good luck with your GA project - I'll talk to you later. (it was me who spotted the Minna Bluff error on the Shackleton map, incidentally!) Brianboulton (talk) 19:27, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Youmangani has come up with a Ross Sea sector map which has most of the necessary information on it. I've posted it on the article for the time being as it is - we might consider additions/modifications when you are less busy but there's no hurry for this. Brianboulton (talk) 14:53, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- Good to hear from you. Can you e-mail attachments to me on bb@bboulton.fsnet.co.uk & I will comment through your talk page? Would that work? Brianboulton (talk) 00:34, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, indeed. I started fooling around with the first image you pointed me to. I lowercased some terms. I'll e-mail you that in a moment as a test case. You might want me to switch to the other map, the one put up by Yomangani, or you might want me to fiddle more with this one. Either is fine with me. Finetooth (talk) 00:44, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm resuming talk page communication as someone else might read it with an idea or two to help with our map. The best I can do for the moment is as follows:-
- All maps I've seen for the Discovery Expedition are too complicated to be useful models. We want our map to be clear and simple.
- I think the map you're working on will look good if we do just a few more things
- We need to delete the red and green dots and the line leading to them, also the words Scott Base and the words Ice Caves. As mentioned by email, I am happy for Mount Terra Nova to stay - I'll explain the anachronism
- Royd should become Royds and Cape Evans should become The Skuary
- Hut Point needs to be indicated, just above the present position of the left green dot
- The left-hand land should be labelled Western Mountains.
- Three coloured lines should be drawn to indicate respectively the Southern Journey, the Western Journey and journeys to Cape Crozier. Apart from Cape Crozier, we won't be able to show these journeys in their entirety - the map isn't big enough - but we will be able to indicate their directions.
If you have the time to clean up the map as above, & are prepared to go on with this, I'll give precise directions as to where these lines are to go. If there are technical/time problems I'll understand. Thanks for your help so far Brianboulton (talk) 22:56, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- This information is quite helpful. I'll make these changes and then send you the latest version before we go ahead with the lines. Finetooth (talk) 23:07, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- Done except for the three coloured lines. I've e-mailed you a copy of the latest, Version 6. Finetooth (talk) 00:46, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Version 6 looks great. The three journey lines should be entered as follows:-
- Southern Journey: From Hut Point, in a SE direction until past the north point of White Island, then a 90° turn to go SW to the edge of the map. At the edge a note should be added - "To 82°17'S"
- Western Journey: From Hut Point, across McMurdo Sound to the headland under the "MC" part of the name. Then due west to edge of map. The note at the edge should read - "To Polar Plateau"
- Cape Crozier: A simple dogleg to the south of Ross Island, joining the two points.
When the map is finished I will write a key to the lines. Are you intending to put it in Commons? Brianboulton (talk) 14:16, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Glad you like Version 6. It is easy for me to make changes, so if you spot anything amiss, just let me know. I have some other things I have to do today, but I should be able to fit in more map-tweaking. I'll e-mail you the results when I'm done. And, yes, I had always intended to post the final version to the Commons where others might find it useful. Finetooth (talk) 17:49, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- I just e-mailed you Version 8 with the three routes added as well as the new text. If you like it as is, let me know and I will post it to the Commons. If you'd like further changes, just let me know what they are and I'd be happy to make them. When I post to the Commons, I'll have to license the image and include the source data for the base map. I will say NASA, but it would be helpful to link to the source in the image description at the Commons. I can use the link you sent me originally, but I'm wondering if there's a slightly better link to a NASA site. If not, I think we're OK, but I like nailing things down as tightly as I can. Finetooth (talk) 19:50, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- I love version 8. If possible, it would help for the lines to have different colours because it'll be easier for me to write the key identifying the journeys. Apart from that, just right, thanks. If it needs a title I suggest "Discovery field of work". As to the source of the map, it came to me from Youmangani who gave me the web address: I know no more - hope that isn't a problem. Brianboulton (talk) 22:03, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- I have posted the map to the Discovery Expedition article. It looks excellent - see for yourself. The article has just about finished its peer review, & I think that with the map it will be a viable FAC. Again many thanks & good luck with your endeavours. Brianboulton (talk) 21:23, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- You are most welcome. I enjoyed working on the map, and I'm pleased that you like it. My best. Finetooth (talk) 21:32, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Boulder, Montana, finally a reply
Hello, again. I hope your visit to Basin is/was fun and relaxing. To answer your question about books on Boulder history, I haven't ever seen one. Even in state history books, Boulder doesn't really play a big part; the only significant event I ever heard of while I lived there was that it was the territorial capitol for one day. The legislature met there while the seat of government was being moved to Helena (from Virginia City, IIRC). This could be a local legend, though. Maybe I should interview some of the old-timers next time I visit my folks.... Regards, JSC ltd ([[User talk:JSC ltd|talk]]) 20:23, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Copyediting
Hi. I saw what a good job you did in copyediting Hurricane Hernan (2002), an article that I requested a copyedit of. Because you do such a good job, would you mind giving List of New York hurricanes a quick copyedit, as well? I have had trouble with writing issues on that article. In return, I coule help you out with small, tedious projects if you want. Thank you, Juliancolton The storm still blows... 01:11, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. You don't have to rush, just when you get a chance. Juliancolton The storm still blows... 14:03, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
FYI, speedy delete tag
here: User talk:Epbr (I'm assuming this was a trivial mistake.) -Pete (talk) 22:45, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm not sure what this message is about. Could you clarify? Finetooth (talk) 03:03, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oops, looks like the page got deleted before you got my message! That page (which doesn't belong to a user account) had a message from you from about a year ago, that said something presumably fleeting like "thanks for the note, and I'm going to try to get back to that article we were talking about." Something along those lines. I'm pretty sure you were just trying to reach User:Epbr123, and typed it in wrong. Should obviously have notified you BEFORE speedy-tagging, sorry about that. -Pete (talk) 10:10, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, thanks. No problem about it being deleted. It was one of the first messages I sent after opening an account, and I did not know how anything worked. It was a message to User:Epbr123 , as you have deduced, but it contained nothing of lasting value. Thanks for the heads-up. Finetooth (talk) 16:47, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Re:New York Hurricanes
Yes, I have gotten some help from another user, although the writing still seems messy in some places, so I will continue to work with it. How would I go about converting the images? Oh, and thank you for copyediting it. Juliancolton The storm still blows... 23:34, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and concerning Hernan 2002, thanks! I couldn't have done it without your excellent copyediting. Juliancolton The storm still blows... 23:49, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll get right on that. Thanks, Juliancolton The storm still blows... 00:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Tropical Cyclones WikiProject
User:Juliancolton/SandboxA6 Juliancolton The storm still blows... 01:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the invitation. Much as I like working on tropical cyclones, I think I will respectfully decline because I'm up to my ears in editing for the League of Copyeditors and working on research and writing projects related to canals, polar expeditions, and geographic places. I've been happy to help with cyclone articles, and I intend to work on more of them in the future. I'd just rather not focus on cyclones to the exclusion of many other interesting things. My best. Finetooth (talk) 03:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- I completely understand, and I respect that you are very busy. Thank you for your polite response. Juliancolton The storm still blows... 12:31, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Wonderful job on the Johnson Creek article! I didn't even recognize the article. I had to look at the edit history to make sure it was the same article that I created back in March. Many thanks, Cacophony (talk) 04:44, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- Very much agreed -- an excellent job! (Have you thought about joining WikiProject Oregon, by the way? We could use ya!) -Pete (talk) 05:44, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks to both of you. I've noticed your impressive work as well. I'm not done with the Johnson Creek article yet; it's something I've been thinking about for a while, and I've been using Larrys Creek as an example of what can be said about a stream of this size. Quite a lot, it turns out. I'm giving serious thought to joining the Oregon project, and I thank you for the invitation. Finetooth (talk) 16:16, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- Great! By the way, there are several of us very actively trying to improve Columbia River to GA or FA class. Right now we're considering how to restructure the sections. Seems like something that might be up your alley. -Pete (talk) 08:13, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Good job catching that error on Columbia River..whoops!! And welcome to WP:ORE. I just nominated a DYK on Johnson Creek -- feel free to tweak the wording or make a new hook altogether if you like. See here, bottom of the March 14 section. -Pete (talk) 19:54, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
<outdent>The DYK nomination looks swell. Thanks, and thanks for the welcome. I'll return to the Columbia River and look again more carefully when I can tear myself away from Johnson Creek. Finetooth (talk) 20:31, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
SGGK help
This article will be on the main page soon, so I may need help keeping the chaos under control. Wrad (talk) 19:19, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- I was pleased that SGGK made featured status, but I'm not sure what sort of chaos might be in store. How can I help? Finetooth (talk) 19:24, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- There's usually a lot of vandalism as well as prose issue reintroduced as people edit the article. It can get overwhelming if there's just one person to make sure article quality stays high. Wrad (talk) 19:55, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- I've re-added the article to my watch list. Finetooth (talk) 20:36, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

DYK
--Gatoclass (talk) 08:54, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
No problem
Yeah, I never think to self-nom for DYK, usually to focused the details of on an article until it's too late. So lately I'm trying to notice other people's. It's a really good article, definitely a good candidate for DYK. Thanks for finding the {{convert}} parameter, that'll be very useful! And thanks so much for all the detail work on the Columbia article. Fresh eyes are finding and correcting all kinds of issues with that article, it's very gratifying! -Pete (talk) 19:40, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Wow -- this is probably the most dramatic DYK jump in hits I've seen! Pretty cool. -Pete (talk) 19:57, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Finetooth, many thanks indeed for your tireless efforts and incredible work guiding Franklin's lost expedition through the GA process. A pleasure working with you! Clevelander96 (talk) 00:42, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Columbia
Thanks for helping Columbia River over the GA hump! Your attention to detail was a big boost to my spirits. It's really gratifying that such a dedicated and skilled team assembled to get the article to GA. Hope you stick around to FA and beyond! -Pete (talk) 03:31, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- My congratulations to you on leading the way. Yes, I'm planning on sticking around this talented and friendly group. Finetooth (talk) 04:46, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Vera Katz and History
Howdy folks, its time for another installment of WikiProject Oregon’s Collaboration of the Week! Last week we made some improvements to the Oregon Coast and brought The Register-Guard up to B class while garnering a DYK! Great job to those who lent a hand. This week we finish up the High priority Stubs with former mayor and Speaker of the House, Vera Katz, which is pretty much a Start class now and could easily get to B class. We also have History of Oregon by request. Help out if you can, where you can. As always, to opt out, opt in, or suggest future collaborative efforts, click here. Aboutmovies (talk) 07:46, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Katz
That would be great to use in the part of the article where it is mentioned. For copyright issues though, just make sure to get a enough wide picture to include the general area, see WP:COPYRIGHT for a better explanation. Aboutmovies (talk) 00:52, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- OK. I'll see what I can do. Finetooth (talk) 02:43, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Creeks
Glad to be of service. If you are looking for model articles I am not sure if you have also read Plunketts Creek (Loyalsock Creek) which is the third FA creek article I am the primary author of - it was not one I planned to do much on, but there was enough material that I got it to GA and then FA. It is a tiny creek and there were some issues with missing information - there is no stream gauge on it, for example. Paulins Kill is another FA - it is a small stream in New Jersey and I helped some with it, but ExplorerCDT (who is no longer on Wikipedia) was the main author there. It is more urban than the other creek FAs. I hope to get one or two more Lycoming County creeks to FA this year. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:04, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Hanford
Hi Finetooth, thank you again for your excellent GA review of Hanford Site. It's currently up for FA, and so far there don't seem to be any major problems -- thanks largely to your thorough advice in the GA process. Northwesterner1 (talk) 19:11, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Elected Oregon
Hello fellow WikiProject Oregon folks and entities. Thanks to those who helped out with improving Vera Katz and History of Oregon during the last Collaboration of the Week! As you may have noticed, we have changed the banners a bit, but not our dedication to everything Oregon! This week, in honor of the political process, we have: Current Oregon Senate members & Current Oregon House members. Hopefully by November we can have an article on every current member of the Oregon Legislature. So feel free to turn a red link blue or expand an existing article. Since it is an election year, there should be plenty of newspaper stories. Plus, the state archives has this site that allows you to go back and see when they started serving and district info, plus at a minimum show they were a state legislator from a WP:RS. And per WP:BIO, all state legislator's are notable so no need to worry about AFD. As always, to opt out, opt in, or suggest future collaborative efforts, click here. Quantock Hills
Thanks for your edits to Quantock Hills & I see you are kindly reviewing it for GA. Please let me know if there is anything which needs doing asap as I shall be away on leave from Weds 16th April - 24th April & will not have any Internet access during that time to make any edits (or access to my reference books). Thanks again.— Rod talk 06:48, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comments. With one exception I believe they have now been addressed & would be grateful if you would take another look.— Rod talk 13:54, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
