"Unilaterally opposed"

Thank you for your work on the ITN page. I thought I might mention that I believe you are inadvertently misusing the word "unilaterally." A "unilateral" decision is one made by just one person or just one side of an argument. In this context, when you post "Unilaterally opposed," that could be misread to mean that you, by yourself, are closing the discussion because you oppose. If what you mean is that everyone has opposed, then a better wording would be "Unanimously opposed" or "Uniformly opposed". (Although even that would probably be wrong as the proposer probably wouldn't oppose, so the more conventional wording "No consensus to post" might be better still.) Please

Do not insert your signature, inside others posts - it is not good form, and very confusing.

Also on western australian railway articles, you have inserted inside block socks posts.

Please do separate posts, so that your signature is outside of the blocked socks posts.

Thank you. JarrahTree 10:47, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Well so much for reminding, the bot is dumb and should be re-designed to put the rm sig outside, it needs changing JarrahTree 23:29, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Hello George! I saw you doing some corrections on Brad Carter (actor). Can you please do a little more copy-edit and a rewrite where I used bad wordings? Intelius/inome

I think the consensus is clear that it should be Intelius. I was the one that questioned the move, but we've pretty much figured out what happened: inome filed a dba that basically undid their rename, so inome and Intelius are the same company. No one is contesting this. The only bit missing is exactly when the dba was filed, but we know it was within the past year from what sources we have. --Ronz (talk) 16:26, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Hey

I'm sorry I didn't respond, real life is exploding and I've got some wiki harassment. I can't close anything because I'm not an admin AFAIK. I'm just a wikignome (despite years and years of service) and I never had a mentor, so if that is incorrect, let me know and I'll look into the procedure. Ogress smash! 01:41, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

Edward Ryan relist

Please undo your relist at Talk:Edward Ryan (disambiguation). There is no opposition to the move and there is clear agreement for what the disambiguation will be. Adding another week is pointless. Jenks24 (talk) 16:51, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

One guy said "lawyer"; other said "barrister". We can't just supervote and close. --George Ho (talk) 16:54, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
He said lawyer before the relevant convention was pointed out and saying it "would be fine" is noncommittal. In addition, there are three users supporting barrister. To say moving it to barrister would be a supervote is borderline ridiculous. Please undo the relist. Jenks24 (talk) 17:03, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
Counting you would be unfair to the results. How about one "lawyer" and two "barrister"? To me, more votes are needed. Two over one? George Ho (talk) 17:06, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
How on earth is counting me, one of the participants in the discussion, unfair? The opinion of the nominator is just as valid as anyone else. Please undo the relist. Jenks24 (talk) 17:09, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

1st Indian Cavalry Brigade

George, I requested a move of 1st Indian Cavalry Brigade to 1st (Risalpur) Cavalry Brigade. I see that you have "relisted" it. Am I right in thinking that this pushes the request back a week? Hamish59 (talk) 14:52, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

The bot relisted it to another week, but be patient. There should be votes. --George Ho (talk) 22:25, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for the explanation: I did not realise a bot was at work. With regard to votes, can I assume that if no one objects, then it will be moved? Hamish59 (talk) 08:04, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

When you propose an RM, please do not base on it patently false claims, like you did at The White Shadow by claiming that the TV series is "not more primary" than the film, despite the series having 8 times as many page views. --В²C 00:30, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

RfC Closure on Draft:Psychology of eating meat : Reasoning?

Hey George, I just wanted to ask, and clarify, that the Procedural Closure was because of the {{submit}} template? Also, if that is the case, you may want to actually extend the comments included down to 67.70.32.190's comment on the template being the proper procedure. Thanks and I hope your exams go well, Dr Crazy 102 (talk) 08:02, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Thank you, George! I didn't realize {{submit}} was permissible when publication was potentially contentious. There does seem to be a glitch in the closure template, but it's not a big deal. FourViolas (talk) 10:12, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Joseph Sprigg

Thank you for your efforts in moving and redirecting Joseph Sprigg, but I had intentionally named that article with "(attorney general)" because I will be writing about other politicians in his family also named Joseph Sprigg. Is it possible for you to undo these recent redirects? This just creates more work for me when those articles are completed that I had intended to avoid. -- West Virginian (talk) 07:12, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

I read that his father is also named Joseph. If he's not Sr, then how many Josephs before his father? Also, what about Sprigg family? --George Ho (talk) 07:17, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
George Ho, they did not use Jr. and Sr. or numerals unfortunately and Sprigg's uncles named Joseph would also need modified titles to disambiguate them. I know the Wikipedia naming policies but I was planning ahead by naming him as such. I would have liked to have been notified before the proposed move, and now I'll get to spend the morning correcting all the current Joseph Sprigg links only for me to have to modify them back to their original in a few months. George, I like you, but you're killing me man! -- West Virginian (talk) 07:24, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
George Ho, thank you for the redirect! You're a scholar and a gentleman. -- West Virginian (talk) 07:39, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Be careful on using non-free reduce

If the image is in the ballpark around 0.1M to 0.15M pixels , it is NOT recommended to add non-free reduce to file pages; there is no policy on exactly what image size is max or where reduction is needed, and instead you should only use it for clearly oversized sized (0.2M or higher). --MASEM (t) 12:55, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

Hong Kong name formatting

Hi, I have recently started a new thread on the talk page of the article on Joshua Wong. I doubt you would support what I propose, since you argued for the exact opposite last year. :) But I though that maybe you could provide your insight regarding the second questions, which is about the "Hong Kong name formatting" you referred to. Does it hold any sort of official power, e.g. is it used on official documents? Or is it just a convenient way people use to squeeze the English and Chinese names together?
