Second account used for requests

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you have recently created an alternative account, Hello-it'sMary-from-Hormel, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's alternative account policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here? I'd appreciate learning your reasons for creating an additional account. Thank you. Please be aware that the use of multiple accounts are allowed only under certain situations. When using those second accounts, it usually needs to be made clear on those account's main pages that they are being used by the same person, by listing each other's account names. Please advise. Thank you!  spintendo  21:49, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Spintendo, I did something unintentional while working at cafes (vs. my office) this week. I believe what happened is that I logged on to an account that I created months ago, before I understood the guidelines -- that mentioning Hormel in my WP ID is a no-no. I clicked the "keep me logged in" box when logging in just now, with the intent of staying logged in as just Hello-Mary-H. Does that work as a remedy moving forward? Apologies for this glitch, and tell me what other steps I can take moving forward. Thanks for letting me know and for your patience and help. --Hello-Mary-H (talk) 14:35, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mary, and thank you for your reply. According to WP:ISU, usernames are acceptable if they contain a company name in a way which is clearly intended to denote an individual person at that company, such as "Mary at Hormel". So my concern here in contacting you was just to make sure that this was indeed a second account of yours, and not someone else accessing the account either with or without your permission, which would not be allowed. But as you've indicated here to me that it was an accident with an older account, I don't see any additional problems. Thank you for clearing this up, it's much appreciated!
As for the other account, I don't see any problems with keeping it, if you'd like. The only thing I ask is that you add a statement on the other account's main page that it is a shared account. You can do this by adding {{User alternative account}}. If you could also add the {{User alternative account name|Hello-it'sMary-from-Hormel}} to this account page, that would cover all requirements. I went ahead and added that screen-name to the COI list at the top of the Hormel talk page, so that requirement is already covered. Thank you again for your help!  spintendo  23:42, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am learning so much, Spintendo. I placed the info on both pages. Thank you so much! Hello-Mary-H (talk) 13:19, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Spintendo: I hope you are having a good summer. I am wondering if it is possible to delete or hide the Mary at Hormel account because I created it in error and as far as I know, I did not use it since I was in the early phase of learning the best practices. If there are some steps I can take, I appreciate it. Thank you so much! Hello-Mary-H (talk) 00:31, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jennie O 17-FEB-2020

[edit]

Hi Mary, I've reverted the edit request you left at the Jennie O page because it appears to have removed other posts from the talk page. Please ensure that requests you add are placed under a new level 2 heading and that previous posts are not inadvertently removed. Thank you! Regards,  Spintendo  21:27, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Spintendo: Thank you. I made another request this weekend for Jennie O and it does not appear on the page. I am not sure what is happening (could there be some sort of glitch happening?) but looking to add the sources to the article, which I formatted with ref tags. Best regards, Hello-Mary-H (talk) 16:56, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mary! Unfortunately your re-addition to the page made the previous posts disappear again. In looking closely at your changes, I noticed that you left an open ref tag in your post. That was making the other posts disappear. I've corrected this, and the other posts appear normally now. Make sure that when you use ref tags, you follow each opening tag with a closing one, (e.g., <ref> as the opening tag and </ref> as the closing tag). Instead, you had placed two open tags together, which was confusing the Wiki software's parser. Thank you! Regards,  Spintendo  05:41, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Spintendo: Thank you for the fix and information. I appreciate it and will take care to use the correct tags. Best, Hello-Mary-H (talk) 17:16, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Josh mchugh

[edit]

Hello, Hello-Mary-H. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Josh mchugh".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

August 2020

[edit]

I am happy to consider any productive changes but so far, your requests are a waste of volunteer time. You ask to have "lamb" removed although you concede the company still sells gyro meat with lamb. You ask to change a plant closure to "voluntary" when the source you provided says "The Ogle County Health Department in Illinois has ordered the closure of Rochelle Foods plant due to a COVID-19 outbreak."

My volunteer time is valuable. I do not get paid like you do. Please stop wasting my time with this baloney. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 18:10, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @Cullen328:, for stopping by. Would love to keep things civil and respectful since I value your efforts and other Wikipedia editors. I was noting that Hormel hasn't processed lamb in years, although it did last century. Guess the question is, does one gyro product with just 17% lamb mean "lamb" needs to be included in the COVID-19 article? Perhaps not since there are hundreds of other Hormel products from the company that do include bacon, ham, turkey, beef and chicken.
The use of the word "voluntary" is used to describe the closure in news sources such as https://therockwalltimes.com/coronavirus/2020/05/04/rochelle-foods-a-hormel-foods-company-to-reopen-monday-after-voluntary-closure/ and https://www.wifr.com/content/news/Hormel-plant-in-Rochelle-ordered-closed-over-COVID-19-outbreak-569741371.html, so perhaps there is something there. Thank you, Hello-Mary-H (talk) 22:49, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You say that Hormel "hasn't processed lamb in years" and then immediately contradict yourself when you say that one gyro product includes lamb. If you want to be successful in contributing to Wikipedia, you would be wise to avoid such blatant contradictions. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:55, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As for the "voluntary" plant closure, both of those articles reported, accurately, that county public health authorities ordered the plant closed. The only people saying it was voluntary were the PR spin doctors working for that Hormel subsidiary. That does not belong in the encyclopedia. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:00, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
