Important Notice

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Image revert

[edit]

Regarding your recent lead image revert on the Nair article. The image was uploaded by a Sockpuppet a part of a long-running sock farm, whose sole intention is to vandalize each and every caste-related south Indian article and your edit seemed like a collateral support to them as the article is ECP protected for the last two years. The very same incident happened at the Ezhava article recently and your intervention is needed there more than any time. R.COutlander07@talk 06:57, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oh! I didn't knew that. Although why that image isn't removed from Wikipedia yet?Outlander07 HinduKshatrana (talk) 08:23, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It is a messy sock farm with accounts dedicated to POV caste promotions & some for content disruptions. Even they seem to be now immune to the CU investigations. Anyhow an SPI investigation is still in progress which may bring some of them to the daylight, I hope. R.COutlander07@talk 14:07, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reference repair of Nanda (Hinduism)

[edit]

Hello: I made a fix to a faulty citation on Nanda (Hinduism), shown here. For some unknown - and UNEXPLAINED - reason, you reverted the perfectly legitimate and appropriate repair.

If there is a fair reason that the error-making citation should stay faulty, other than a general prejudiced judgment that IP users are all up to no-good, then an edit summary would be very welcome. Perhaps it is I that am not seeing correctly, and failing to notice something crucial that my correction is breaking (and why edit summaries are a good idea!) If you look at reference number 7 on your un-repaired page version, you will see the error message the faulty cite produces. Compare that to the repaired version - which I have now restored.

If you do not understand my explanation, or still think I am doing something wrong, please ask another editor you trust for their opinion, before simply reverting, out-of-hand. It is very dispiriting to have one's well-intentioned work treated this way. Thank you. 49.177.30.125 (talk) 05:37, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello HinduKshatrana! Your additions to Bunt (community) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 12:55, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Diannaa:, thanks for informing me about that. I was not aware that it was copyrighted. I will make sure to take this into account from now on.HinduKshatrana (talk) 16:46, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Right after the above warning by Diannaa you are still violating copyrights.[1] Given there is a big list of your copyrights violations, I would really seek action against this now. Abhishek0831996 (talk) 15:34, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't copy material from elsewhere online to Wikipedia. Prose you find online is almost always copyright, and cannot be copied here; it's against the copyright policy of this website to do so. All prose must be written in your own words. — Diannaa (talk) 22:21, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nor is the user they awarded it to, which is what this award is for. I'm going to collapse this barnstar since, a: the editor awarding had no right to as they were subject to a block at the time, and b: the award is inappropriate, as it is for admin work, I.e. you need to be an admin to do the stuff needed to get this barnstar. Regarding my edits on Abhira Dynasty

[edit]

I've explained about every single one of my edits on that page as well as on all other pages. I had to go through the sources cited to come to the conclusion of removing them as neither did they mention what was being on the page, nor were most of them even remotely relevant to the broad article. A thorough and careful examination would conclude that my edits were to uphold the quality of content on this platform. Solarson919 (talk) 08:45, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Friendly notice

[edit]

Hey, I hope you're doing well. Recently, I noticed that you've been adding Konar (caste) to the Ayar ([1] [2] ) term in articles. Additionally, you seem to be connecting the Konar caste to ancient kings without solid evidence. I want to bring to your attention the principle of WP:OR (Original Research). Prominent editors like Sitush have edited these articles, and if Konar caste were indeed descendants of these kings, they would have included this information with WP:RS (Reliable Sources). Ayars were Abhiras, which is the most widely accepted view. I kindly request that you refrain from introducing the Konar caste into the articles. If you have any WP:RS sources for the Konar caste, please share them with me, and I'll be happy to add them to the article without any conflicts. Thanks.
