Draftifications

Hello, IM3847,

You just draftified quite a lot of articles. What was the basis for your decision to move them to Draft space? Draftification is just one tool, please do not overdo it moving articles to Draft space and only move articles that are less than 90 days old. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:13, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

I moved the articles to Draft space because they were all within 30 days of creation and had limited content but potential for expansion. And thank for letting me know 90-day rule, I'm unaware of that at Wikipedia:ATD-I, will definitely keep that in mind. According to WP:GEOLAND, all of these articles are inherently considered notable, but they require some additional content expansion. The author of these articles has been notified about the same. --iMahesh (talk) 04:36, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of Behmen Doğu

I am shocked on how the article Behmen Doğu was promotional, please can you brief me on that? Wikipractitioner (talk) 16:22, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Deleted article speaks majorly about the Application he has developed and its link with other organisation. It is considered as advertising as per WP:SOAP. --iMahesh (talk) 16:25, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
“Application he has developed and its link with other organisation” I will say you got that wrong. If an author is notable for a book and the publication date of the book alongside how manny chapters the book has is added to an article about him/her. How’s that a book advert? It’s been deleted already but I believe we can all do better for Wikipedia. One big essence of the edit button is to improve and contribute, before calling for extreme actions were there’s nothing one can do about the issue. Kind regards Wikipractitioner (talk) 17:38, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi, Wikipedia can be edited by everyone, but that doesn't mean we can write anything on it. Please read WP:SOAP and WP:GNG before creating an article and use Draft space for now to create new articles and submit them via Articles for Creation to get them approved. --~~ iMahesh (talk) 23:36, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Unfortunately, you think I’m a new editor but that’s fine, would only advise that you always act in good fate. Wikipractitioner (talk) 07:26, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

Miguel Braun

Hi iMahesh, Thanks for reaching out about the Miguel Braun article. I've already made the changes you mentioned. I included information about Miguel Braun's political career, along with quotes from reliable sources like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BBC, Bloomberg News, Reuters, and IDB. Miguel Braun served as Secretary of Commerce and Secretary of Economic Policy of Argentina. It's worth noting that similar figures like Guido Sandleris, Miguel Gustavo Peirano and Guillermo Moreno have been considered notables for this encyclopedia due to their roles in the same capacity. If you have any more suggestions or if there's anything else you'd like to see in the article, please don't hesitate to share. Best regards!--Leandro.Gonzalez.86 (talk) 22:29, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

Spherical aberration

This photograph of some buildings suffers from severe spherical aberration. In reality, the side of tall buildings like these are usually vertical; that means that they should all look parallel in the photograph. But in the photograph, spherical aberration has caused the verticals to be splayed out, a bit like a bunch of flowers in a vase. The photograph's metadata does not say what model camera was used to take the photograph. Cameras on mobile phones suffer very badly from spherical aberration. If you are interested in taking high quality photographs of buildings, try using a camera with a high quality lens such as Canon L lens.-- Toddy1 (talk) 08:03, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
@Toddy1 Thanks for the info, this was captured using EF-S10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM at 10mm. May be that resulted in too much aberration. Will definitely keep that in mind and will get a good image of Hyderabad skyline, very next time I visit it. Thanks for the inputs. --iMahesh (talk) 10:25, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
You used Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 (Windows) to edit the photograph. Does that software have filters for correct camera distortion?
I did a quick experiment with Photoshop Elements (in "Expert Mode"):
  • There is a "Remove Distortion" slider bar. I found that by moving that to the left, it reduced the curvature of the corner of the tall building. (i.e. I was compensating for "pincushion distortion" with "barrel distortion". (These terms are used in Distortion (optics). In Elements, a setting of -9.0 was an improvement.
  • There is a "Vertical Perspective" slider in the "Perspective Control" area. I found that moving that to the right reduced the splaying out of the buildings. In Elements, a setting of +9 was an improvement.
The corrected picture still shows some aberration, but it is better. I would imagine that if you experimented with different values of the different you could get it better that I did in my quick experiment.
I still recommend using better lens and taking the picture at a greater distance. But you could improve your photograph a lot by reducing the aberration if your version of Photoshop has those facilities.-- Toddy1 (talk) 15:37, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
If you do try such software, try using the slider to get to roughly the correction you want, and then changing the number in the white box by typing a different number - I found that an easier way of exactly controlling the response than moving the slider.-- Toddy1 (talk) 15:40, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
Yes, I have gone through them. I recently started processing files after converting RAW to JPEG as soon as feasible because I travel a lot. As a result, data was lost. I'll look for the RAW file and attempt these settings. Thanks for your inputs. iMahesh (talk) 05:14, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
