For a DMCA takedown notice, you should really be contacting Wikipedia via email. Our Volunteer Response Team can assist in many cases.

Also, I have made the Wikimedia Foundation legal team aware of your concerns. They should be reviewing the page shortly. —C.Fred (talk) 20:45, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Since you've reposted, can you be specific about which text in the article is copied from Equity Bank Tanzania Limited's website? It is generally not trademark or copyright infringement to write about trademarked brands or copyrighted terms. However, if text from the EBTL website is copied to Wikipedia, that would be an infringement that could be immediately removed. —C.Fred (talk) 20:47, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, IZoolabsiZoologic-Emjei. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Equity Group Holdings Limited, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 20:38, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You should delete the page as per request by Dhanlaxmi, the group and article in the Wikipedia page is unofficial and untrue, this is an infringement of their Trademark name being used by people NOT affiliated with Dhanlaxmi Bank. If you wish to have a discussion with their legal team kindly leave your contact details here so we can forward it to them to discuss this issue with you — Preceding unsigned comment added by IZoolabsiZoologic-Emjei (talkcontribs)
Going through point-by-point:
  • "You should delete the page as per request by Dhanlaxmi": As a practice, Wikipedia does not delete articles on the request of affiliated parties.
  • "the group and article in the Wikipedia page is unofficial and untrue": The information in the article was not verifiable to independent reliable sources, which is a large part of why I deleted the article. Had reliable sources written about the group in depth, and had those sources shown the group to be notable, the article would not have been deleted.
  • "this is an infringement of their Trademark name being used by people NOT affiliated with Dhanlaxmi Bank": that is a matter between the group and the bank. If a group is notable, Wikipedia will mention the formal name and the common name of the group. In this case, there were not enough sources to verify the group's name, so I can't comment one way or the other on it.
  • "If you wish to have a discussion with their legal team": Please leave mentions of legal teams out of Wikipedia discussions. We prefer to handle Wikipedia matters on-Wikipedia, through discussions with other editors. Invoking mentions of legal teams, lawsuits, or the like has a chilling effect—and it violates Wikipedia's policy of no legal threats. Editors who make legal threats frequently wind up blocked until the threat is revoked
    That said, a bona fide claim of copyright violation may be reported through Wikipedia channels. Wikipedia takes copyright infringement seriously. However, at no point do I see where you say the copyrights of the bank were infringed; you never stated that we used text or images from the bank's website. The use of a name is a trademark matter and outside the scope of those policies.
Finally, please review the paid editor requirements. Your conduct here shows every sign that you are a paid editor. The Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require paid users to declare their employers and who is paying them. You must comply with these requirements. —C.Fred (talk) 11:26, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
One other things: takedown notices should not be made through user talk pages. To make a takedown request per DMCA, OCILLA, or the like, please see WP:COPYVIO#Information for copyright owners for the address to which to send a takedown request via email. —C.Fred (talk) 11:29, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
