Welcome!

[edit]
Howdy, JDHeinzmann, and welcome to Wikipedia!

Thank you for your contributions; you seem to be off to a good start. Hopefully you will soon join the vast army of Wikipediholics! If you need help on how to title new articles, see the naming conventions, and for help on formatting pages, visit the manual of style. For general questions, go to Wikipedia:Help or the FAQ; if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions). There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. If you have any more questions after that, feel free to ask me directly on my user talk page.

Additional tips

[edit]

Here are some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

Be bold

[edit]

Be bold in updating pages! You can find instantaneous help any time simply by typing {{help}} anywhere on your own user or user talk page.
You can find me at my user page or talk page for any questions. Happy editing, and we'll see ya 'round.

Watched pages

[edit]

Hi JD,

I happened to notice your question on Searchme's talk page. I just wanted to say that Wikipedia does not email you when there is a change to an article that is on your watchlist. Instead, every so often you should just check your "my watchlist" page. If you are logged in, the link to that page should be listed across the top of your Wikipedia page, that is, on the top right. It should look like this:

JDHeinzmann my talk my preferences my watchlist my contributions log out

And each one of those is a link, and you can go to your watchlist page from there by clicking on that link.

You can subtract articles from your watchlist by using the link on that page that says "View and edit watchlist". You can add or subtract articles by using the link that says "Edit raw watchlist".

I hope this is helpful, best wishes to you, Invertzoo (talk) 14:46, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your pleasant and humorous reply. Wikipedia is indeed so vast and confusing at first that after a couple of years here I am happy to be able to know enough to answer a question here and there. There's all kinds of stuff I don't know still, but you are welcome to ask me any similar small technical questions when you come across things you don't understand. Best wishes, Invertzoo (talk) 12:15, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
