Can you confirm that you have completed splitting the above page? Op47 (talk) 20:29, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, for the moment. Though it's possible I may come back to it and split more off Kjhskj75 (talk) 19:23, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Thankyou. In that case, I will remove the tag. Op47 (talk) 21:26, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
Kings of Mann
[edit]I see you have made a few changes. I have suspected for some time that Ragnall I Haraldsson was a nonsense - but I was away in April when Brianann MacAmhlaidh provided the reference for 'Rognvald Ólafsson'. However you have boldly made the moves to Rögnvaldr I Óláfsson and then to Rögnvaldr III Óláfsson for the second Ronald but I don't know where these digits come from. Can you provide some logic and sources for these? Ben MacDui 18:41, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
They are the first and third kings of the dynasty of Godred Crovan. There was an earlier rule by a son or grandson of Ivar the Boneless, but he seems to have been a roving ruler who also had Dublin and York at different times. The disambiguation page Ragnald of the Isle of Man shows him and also a "II", but I have no idea who that is supposed to be. The reason I did this was because "Haraldson" is obviously wrong and needed fixing, if you want to change all the numbers to some other scheme go ahead. The whole area needs cleanup, particularly names, which are either English, Old Norse or Gaelic with no obvious pattern. Kjhskj75 (talk) 08:07, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- I agree that there is no clear pattern to the language use, and to be honest I'd never seen this disambiguation page before. However we need to try and use titles that conform to WP:COMMONNAME (insofar as this is possible) and attempt to disambiguate clearly as well. I fear these Roman numerals are more or less made up. The page now titled Talk:Rögnvaldr I Óláfsson seems like a reasonable place to co-ordinate some discussion. Ben MacDui 18:51, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
