Doctor Who edits

[edit]

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad it didn't seem like I was stalking your edits or something. On behalf of the others at WikiProject Doctor Who, thanks for the contributions, and keep them coming. :) --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 01:28, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Audio characters, Daleks, et al.

[edit]

Just to let you know, I'm rolling back the -cat edits you did, because I looked at the cat description and realised it was unclear. The original intent was to gather the various people who have appeared in the audios together, spin-off or no, so I've edited the cat description to reflect that and readded the cat.

Also, regarding the History of the Daleks edits, I don't disagree that the information should be moved out, but do go and move it somewhere rather than simply deleting it (unless the information is already duplicated in the appropriate article). Just FYI that it's good practice in general, especially when dealing with a large chunk of text. Thanks. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 00:00, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You wrote: On a related note, should the 5th-8th Doctors be added to the audio characters category? The stuff I took out of the History article is right under "Conceptual History" in the main Dalek article, so S.I.G.:).
Yeah, I put it there after I saw your edit. :) On the subject of the Doctors... good point. I'd say go ahead and add them. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 00:39, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Sean and Khaosworks - I changed the cat description because the one on comic characters was wrong, and I changed the audio one to be the same description - I didn't look at the contents closely enough! --TimPope 08:58, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your Comments/Vote on Davien Crow

[edit]
  • You said they do not meet WP:MUSIC. This is not true. You only have to meet 1 requirement to meet WP:MUSIC though some of you are debating over what exactly is an album they have had more than 2 releases on labels, 2 of them independant notables Kidatrim music and Mushroomcloud Records. But the undisputable requirement they meet is having been on a National Tour, They (Davien Crow's Bands) have been on 2. Please reconsider changing your vote, thanks for your time and contributions to wikipedia.

  • Look the point summarized is I am willing to work with you guys on why these were deleted but until now noone has given us any feedback and has even lied about stuff trying to get it deleted. All 3 of them meet the sufficient amount of requirements for WP:MUSIC, the guidelines in WP:Criteria_for_inclusion_of_biographies, Wikipedia:Importance, Wikipedia:Notability (the fact that suicide girls, gidget gein, and marilyn manson are involved and can be verified in those links should proove that) , Wikipedia:Fame_and_importance mainly the part stating "There is clear proof that a reasonable number of people are or were concurrently interested in the subject (eg. it is at least well-known in a community)" If you can't tell the community of Myspace.com and Livejournal.com alone are enough to meet this criterea you are blind. If you do google searches, go to forums and search their names, or visit internet archives you can find un-disputable information on the band from reputable sources, first hand accounts that are years older than these discussions, and intangible archives kept by internet archives. IF you want more detail read my above rant, your right I do sound mad about this, because I can't see how you can say they do not meet criterea or that this is a vanity page. Please accept my apologies for anything you have taken to be rude and please re-consider changing your vote. What Harm could it do ? BTW I am not trying to bully anyone, I can show you the location of the people threatening to come here and vandalize the hell out of Wikipedia. But I do not want that to be part of your decision at all. (please reference the large rebuttle on the discussion page itself)

I have posted this, I hope that some of you will consider looking for my information and reconsider your vote for now. A lot of people are simply responding to the rudeness of user:sin-thetik and some things I said are being misconstrude as threats. I am simply upset because of all the time it took to write these 3 articles, knowing they fit the guidelines, only to have somone delete them with the proof and verifiable facts right in front of them .. just their un-willingness to read them. Please think it over, I appreciate your time. I'm just a fan girl trying to be the first to get an article up about them since I have been running a fan site about them for almost 2 years now.

Dad's (missing) Army

[edit]

Hi Sean, just thought I'd drop a message here as I don't want to start a piffling little edit war over something so trivial! It's just that a few days back I removed mention of Dad's Army from the top of the Doctor Who missing episodes article and replaced it with mention of Z-Cars as an example of another BBC show of which "many" episodes are missing. I just noticed that you've re-added it – I have to say I disagree with this. While it is of course regrettable that *any* episodes of the show are missing, I simply don't think that its grand total of three missing episodes put it in anything like the same league as the likes of Doctor Who and Z-Cars (which, while I don't have the exact figures to hand, is missing something like half its run). Now, you might argue that Dad's Army is a particularly high-profile example of missing episodes even if there are only three gone, and while this is true I think it belongs more in the Wiping (magnetic tape) general piece than the Who one. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the matter, anyway. Angmering 22:46, 6 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

(In response to your reply on my talk page). I think I'll go ahead and replace the mention with The Wednesday Play if that's okay, as it's a high-profile series (also initiated by Sydney Newman, as it happens), at least in the UK, and sadly has many missing episodes, particularly from its earlier series. Angmering 15:42, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Doctor Who theme music

[edit]

Hi! I liked it too, but Tim beat me to it :). I especially liked using the various renditions of the theme in the background. Very cool. You ought to have a go at Dalek (just don't do it as a dalek!:)--Sean Jelly Baby? 20:25, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mission of Burma's Vs.

[edit]

I just made this page in the last hour, I need help with album chronology, mainly removing the attempted link to pictures, and the fact that the link to Roger Miller is very much a different person, but the Mission of Burma Roger Miller does not currently have a page, nor do I think he particularly needs one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Vandalism

[edit]

Hi you warned this ip User_talk:195.93.21.101 for vandalism on Sep. 28th can you check out their contributions since then Special:Contributions&target=195.93.21.101 mostly minor vandalism.

actually the edits seem quite different in character so probably either a family or public computer, maybe you could try another warning and hope a responsible user will notice. Arniep 14:54, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
on further investigation it looks like this is an AOL ip which is assigned to different users all the time so warnings or bannings won't do much good. Arniep 15:06, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Mr Black, while i understand your stance on the supposed 'vandalism' of one entry about a mr scott keith, I would like to point out that what i wrote was not vandalism. Scott Keith has in recent history gotten married and self admittedly doesn't watch wrestling because 'the wife doesn't like it'. If you've ever read anything he's written before you'd see some of the blatant racism in his 'rants'. Also, he HAS reviewed JCW (Juggalo Championshit Wrestling), another case of mistaken vandalism. Everything I added to his entry were true facts, unlike the bit about him being a canadian hacker (which you claim to be fact even though scott keith barely knows his way around a computer, let alone how to hack one.' Just because somethings written are unflattering does not make them untrue. I didn't resort to name calling or innapropriate language (IE all the edits to fatty fat fat fat) etc. As such, I don't think you understand what constitutes vandalism. Webster's dictionary defines vandalism as 'the willful or malicious destruction or defacement of property. Since I wasn't making things up and posting the truth, my edits should not be considered vandalism. - Shanon

Is this your Barnstar?

[edit]

This page recently came to my attention. This user has only been around for less than a day and already has three barnstars, two from users that don't exist. For a user that only monitors one page in the entire Wikipedia, I find this a surprisingly high amount of awards. I'm contemplating that perhaps this is a past user who has simply forgotten his password, but the layout, dates, and signatures are freakishly similar to Bushytail's page. If I have evidence that you have not given this barnstar to User:JJ.Johnson, then either you or I can bring it up on his talk page. -Nameneko 06:46, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Biggie.P

[edit]

Yeah, he's also made at least 3 oppose votes on my RFA... I think they and Biggie.P are all the same user, rather than friends/etc... note you and I immediately made it onto his "hit list", the similar wording, phrasing, style, etc of edits, trolling, and so forth. In any case, meatpuppets are considered the same as sockpuppets, so it doesn't change anything. I'll let you know if I spot him doing anything even less-civil; did you see the diff of threatening to kill everyone?  :) Bushytails 21:01, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is the same guy. As I also mentioned on Bushytails's talk page, this is becoming long and drawn-out. Thus, I'm planning not to do anything stupid anymore. Just a word of notice, my JJ.Johnson talk page was not supposed to be inferred as threatening, but was only made that way for satirical purposes. I don't plan on killing anyone. Scary RFA

[edit]

Heh, the one day of the year I can dress up with fluffy ears and a bushy tail and no one notices.  :)

Too bad it looks like the oppose votes are coming in a lot faster than the support votes... argh, reverting vandalism as a normal user is painful, especially with the page load speeds of late! While I think my editorial judgement is just fine (that the main page should absolutely not be POV-ified), and 1600-1700 edits or so should be plenty to become an admin, it seems other wikipedians do not think so... which is pretty sad, as looking at recent RFAs, I have more oppose votes than vandals and trolls... oh well. Welcome to Esperanza!

[edit]

Welcome, Kyorosuke/Archive/1, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. A spam list is maintained by Redwolf24 to keep members up to date; you might want to consider adding your name to the list. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Essjay, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of myself, Flcelloguy, Ryan Norton, and Acetic Acid. The next set of elections will be at the end of the year, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me via email or talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!

LaRouche

[edit]

We spent months working on the LaRouche pages and finally were forced to have pro-LaRouche user HK banned through an arbitration from editing them for a long period. The pro-LaRouche people are not interested in actual editing, they have a technique of attacking editors and demanding documentation over and over and over--and when it is supplied, they complain that it is biased, original research, a forgery--whatever. We need to be patient and have a few other editors join in on the pages and forge some type of reasonable outcome.--Cberlet 23:12, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Mr. Black, I just wanted to let you that you have an incorrect closing tag in your signature: [[Wikipedia:Esperanza|<font color="green">ck<font/>]] should be [[Wikipedia:Esperanza|<font color="green">ck</font>]] (the slash precedes the tag name for the closing tag). I noticed it because it turned the Wikipedia:Village pump (miscellaneous) green, although it looks fine in the history now. You may want to repair any other places you signed with this signature. — Knowledge Seeker 05:44, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I fully understood your message, Sean. Did you fix your signature now? When I look at the Wikipedia source, it still showed up as <font/> instead of </font>. — Knowledge Seeker 05:56, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad it always worked in your browser, but keep in mind that not all browsers treat malformed HTML in the same way. As I mentioned, I only noticed it because two-thirds of the Village pump was green and it started at your signature. I don't know when you started using this signature, but if it was recent, the nice thing to do might be to fix all the broken tags to ensure this doesn't happen anywhere else. If you're not interested, that's fine; it's your choice. — Knowledge Seeker 06:10, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
