Re: Guestbook

You're welcome. I haven't signed a guestbook in a while, due to the OMG MYSPACE!!!one!! debacle a few months ago. But I saw you give someone a barnstar for signing it, so I clicked the link to your page. Something Jimbo said about guestbooks being "just about saying 'hi'" came to my mind, so I decided to sign it. I've seen you around, and you are definitely one of the good guys. Have a good evening! (or morning, afternoon, dead-of-the-night, whatever...) J.delanoygabsadds 01:30, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

New messages bar

Hey there, LAAFan. I came by to check on you and noticed that new message bar on the top of your talk page. I should let you know that it's not allowed to use the exact same coding as the real new messages bar. It's confusing to users who see that bar, and if they click it, they realize they didn't get new messages when they said what looked exactly like the real new message bar. Though, you can tweak it to say something else, change the color, etc. to make it look like the real one, but it really isn't. For example: The real one says, "You have new messages. (last change)", but you can instead make it say, "You may have new messages. (last change)". ;) As long as it's not exactly like the real one (wording, color, size, etc.), you're good. Cheers, RyRy (talk) 04:42, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

My last ever message

Welcome to the last thing I am doing before I retire. D:

Couldn't help but notice this over at Frogger's talk, it is in fact not against policy to emulate the mediawiki interface, it is merely frowned upon. You might want to notify him of this. Have a nice day.  Asenine  21:06, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Help with images.

I'm currently working on the article List of Prime Ministers of Sri Lanka. Most of the images used are fair use. Can you help me with these? I'm not sure about how to include the fair use rationale. (they are all dead, and I can't find any free images so I'll just have to use these, right?) BTW, do you think it can get to FL? I'm thinking of giving it a try. Chamal Talk ± 06:13, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. I've made some improvements and put it up at FLC. Chamal Talk ± 04:47, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

GA review

Hey there, nice job with Major League Baseball. Great work there! Strange, but I was writing this message when you left a message on my talk page. And yes, I can review it. Anyway, could you do a GA review on Randy Ruiz, since I see you do that? I'd like that. :) By the way, our favorite baseball teams are facing off in the playoffs. 0-2 so far, with Boston leading the series! Good luck. ;) -- RyRy (talk) 18:21, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

No problem. And I actually just noticed Talk:Randy Ruiz/GA1, so never mind. And we'll see if the Red Sox ever lose the playoffs now. ;) -- RyRy (talk) 18:28, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

I got it, I was going back to it in about an hour or so. Thanks anyways. iMatthew (talk) 18:29, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

October Baseball WikiProject Newsletter

Busy?

Work is proceeding slowly but steadily on the Country topic outlines, and I need your help to speed things up.

The...

...entry needs to be filled in on all of these pages.

For example, this entry for Albania looks like this:

All the rest need to be completed in the same way, presenting the position followed by the current office holder (as shown above).

The data can be found in the Military of x article for each country, where "x" is the name of the country.

If you can handle this, I've got some more complex tasks for you to sink your teeth into (or additional simple ones, if you prefer).  :)

GA Collaboration

Hi LAA. I am just wondering why do we have to start by Octover 25? --Efe (talk) 06:18, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Ah, ok. Good luck on the project. --Efe (talk) 00:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I just joined, please let me know when you need help, thanks    Juthani1   tcs 11:27, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Seems like a great idea, I'll try to pitch in every now and then, but I can't be to involved due to a lack of time, and already being a member of various WikiProjects.--Music26/11 15:08, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the invitation. I think the collaboration is a good idea, and hope it proves successful. I'm a little over committed at the moment, but I'll drop in form time to time, and if something interesting comes up I might chip in. All the best. Gwinva (talk) 21:54, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your invitation! Unfortunately, I'm starting to get a bit busy with school right now, and I already spend way too much time editing as is—so I don't trust myself to join the collaboration right now (for fear that I won't do anything else for the rest of the semester!). But I would love to join in once things settle down a little. And in the meantime, when I'm not too busy I'll definitely check out the project page occasionally and try to contribute to the pages that are being worked on. Happy editing! —Politizertalk • contribs ) 00:32, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the invite! I'm a bit busy with the moment, trying to get Gary Gygax up to GA status before the WP 0.7 deadline. I'm planning on nominating at least Wizards of the Coast, Dragonlance, and Forgotten Realms as well, so wish me luck or help out if you can. :) BOZ (talk) 01:16, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Re: Notice

Thanks for the offer, but I don't attend or access GA enough to be of any help, I have merely nommed one article and am standing by waiting for it to be judged. But thanks for noticing me. ^_^. The Clawed One (talk)

GA WikiProject

Great work with starting Wikipedia:WikiProject Good Article Collaboration Center! Will certainly help more editors get involved in promoting articles to GA status as a group. I'll be working on Jackie Robinson for now. Oh, and by the way, good game in the 2008 ALCS. :) The Red Sox won at the last minute. Bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, Jason Bay scoring the last run to win the game 2–3! Maybe next year. ;) For now, I'll watch my team go on to win the 2008 World Series! – RyanCross (talk) 04:46, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

By the way, if you don't mind, could you review Jackie Robinson Day at WP:GAN if it isn't being reviewed already? Thanks. I'm glad you're getting involved in many areas now, LAAFan. :) – RyanPublic (talk) 08:46, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Great, thanks. Well, I'm going offline for now. See you around. – RyanCross (talk) 13:53, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Re:Jackie Robinson Day

Done. My further comments can be found at Talk:Jackie Robinson Day/GA1. Also, you said, "I am sorry to say I am failing this article." I don't understand why you said that (or was that a mistake somehow?). Thanks, – RyanCross (talk) 00:42, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. :) I'll head over to nominate myself at WP:CROWN now I guess. – RyanCross (talk) 00:57, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

RFA Thanks

LAAFan, I'd like to thank you for voting in my RFA. Thanks also for expressing your trust in me, and I hope that I live up to your expectations. Don't forget, if you have any questions (or bits of advice), please leave a message on my talk page. Thanks again, SpencerT♦C 02:38, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Reading what's on the user talk page your adding

Please see this diff, where you invited an user who has been indefinitely blocked for vandalism and abusing multiple accounts. Please read through a someone's talk page to see if they've been blocked for bad behavior before inviting them.— dαlus Contribs /Improve 05:40, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

One of the advantages of not having many supporters at your RFA is that there are fewer people to thank at the end. Thanks for your support and your willingness to look at my complete record. I'm going to try to interpret this resounding defeat as a statement that I should choose my words more carefully in the future, and remember that every statement I make gets recorded forever, just waiting to get carefully transcribed onto my next RFA. I would go insane if I believed that it was repudiation of what I truly meant: that no editor should consciously and willfully ignore guidelines and policies, and editors that repeatedly do so should not be rewarded for or supported in doing so.

I'm sure I'll get back to full speed editing soon, because, after all, , every day, and in every way, I am getting better and better.—Kww(talk) 05:50, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much

Sorry for the delay

Sorry about the delay with the task, LAAFan. I still couldn't find a page with enough vandalism or edit warring etc. to protect it :o Anyway, I'll get it done during the weekend. Chamal Talk ± 03:57, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Can you tell me if www.strategypage.com can be considered a reliable source? BTW, it's been almost a week since I made my nomination at WP:FLC, but still very little feedback. It's the same for most of the other nominations as well. Is something wrong there? Chamal talk work 15:23, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

The Welcome Cabal

Hey there LA, you may or may not have noticed that I have joined your Cabal. But I just wanted to ask, you provide members with a suggested template, but what is the template code? I mean, it is too inconvenient to keep copy-pasting the raw code from that page, onto the talk pages of new users. Is there such template shortcut? Hello LAAFan. Thank you very much for your support in my recent Request for Adminship, which was successful with 111 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. I'm really sorry, I don't know what happened with the Nick Saban article. I do recent change patrol regularly and was trying to undo some vandal edits. My apologies for whatever went wrong... --Bookgrrl holler/lookee here 03:20, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Re: Coaching

Sorry about the long break, I've been getting massacred by real life as of late. In this past week I've been working two jobs, taking three tests, and writing three papers. I haven't had time for much more than a few comments here and there, and brief sessions of Huggle. However, after Wednesday rolls by, the dust should have settled and I'll be back in full swing. So don't worry, I'm not sick or semi-retiring, just working my way through a gargantuin to-do list. I do appreciate the concern though, thanks. I'll be in full force on Wednesday. Useight (talk) 06:45, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Re: Notice

Hello, LAAFan;

Thank you for the invitation. I will consider it further, but at the moment my on-wiki time is mostly limited to fixing vandalism and misguided good-faith edits to articles on my watchlist, and picking at a couple of pet articles. J. Spencer (talk) 15:35, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Reverting Edits and Vandalism

You seem to have mistaken one of my edits on article Celts as vandalism. If you could take a look at the history of these articles before threatening me, you would clearly see that the edit in question does in fact have a detailed account as to the content and reason for the edit. In the future I'm sure it would be appreciated if you look at what you're doing before reverting edits and submitting accounts for vandalism. TheXenocide (talk) 16:06, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
