Ref desk question
[edit]You requested that we respond to your question on your talk page, but we post answers on the reference desks so everybody who reads the desks get the benefit of the responses. If it helps, consider adding the page to your watchlist. And in case you waiting for it to show up here, you already have a response to your question! —Akrabbimtalk 04:00, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Things to do on Wikipedia relating to petroleum
[edit]We especially need more images: photographs of energy-related equipment, maps, charts, and diagrams. See Commons:Category:Petroleum, Commons:Category:Oil, and Commons:Category:Peak oil. For example, a chart like: File:Alaska Oil Production 1975 to 2005.png needs to be updated, and converted to SVG which you could do with a program such as Gnuplot. Some energy articles are undeveloped in relation to the scope of their topics, such as Petroleum in the United States, which needs a lot more content as the US is the world's largest importer and consumer of petroleum, and has arguably been central to the development of the modern petroleum industry. There is no Natural gas in the United States article yet. But before making heavy edits, first see List of energy topics to get the "lay of the land" on our energy topics. --Teratornis (talk) 20:28, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- Also see my user subpages:
- User:Teratornis/Energy
- User:Teratornis/Notes#Move some images to Commons - you can do a lot of good by finding photos on Wikipedia that should be on Commons and moving them there (and categorizing them there).
- My notes are rough but they reflect some of the edits I've done relating to Wikipedia's energy articles. The nice thing about energy-related topics is that establishing the notability of them is usually straightforward, so there isn't a huge problem with articles getting deleted. But some of the marginally notable energy topics do get deleted. --Teratornis (talk) 21:21, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

MOTDs (This space for rent)
[edit]You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 14:09, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014
[edit]→ Man is but half without woman; and
As do idolaters their heavenly gods,
We deify the things that we adore.
Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.
Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).
