draft comments

[edit]

Hey @Leahcoll: I'm providing online support for your UMD class and I have some comments on your draft so far:

  • I've found one or two sources which might be helpful for you:
    • this (provided you can get access to it) has some comments, however brief.
    • ISBN 0719041228 (p. 54) has a vanishingly brief message, but apparently she supported a petition to allow women to become members of the Royal Academy of Arts, which is cool
    • ISBN 1135494347 has a number of mentions, largely about specific works or her work as a whole. You may find it useful.
  • It might be worth mentioning that her sister was an artist as well as "redlinking" her sister's article, i.e. Annie Mutrie--that way once you turn your draft into an article someone coming along later may decide to research her sister and see if her page can be added as well.
  • Remember that the first section of a wikipedia article doesn't need a section heading (see Janise Yntema for an example)--it is commonly referred to as the "lead" and represents a summary of the article. You've got a great summary right now, all it needs is for the section heading to be taken out.

Other than that the draft basically looks good. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. Thanks for your work so far! Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:08, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

According to Authority control sources, like this one show that she's also known as M.D. Mutrie. The other authority controls are now on the bottom of the sandbox page.
You may also want to check out this BBC Your paintings page, which has an image that you could download for her article... since she died in 1885, more than 70 years ago.--23:40, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
