Re:Lemmy photo copyright conflict
The Lemmy image is fine- though it is currently licensed under a NC license, it was originally uploaded under a free one. Once released under a free CC license, the release cannot be revoked. As for the second image- technically, we need to run through a few procedures here to verify that everything is legit. The easiest way around the issue would be asking the uploader to change the license on the Flickr page so that there is no confusion. J Milburn (talk) 22:30, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I completely agree with your actions- let me know the image(s) in question so that it/they can be deleted. If they have not been released under a free license, they should be deleted. J Milburn (talk) 22:57, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
How To?
Hi Leahtwosaints,
I need your help (and probably not only me) in How To get a picture to an article. Provided I find a nice photograph on the net (there are so many nice bandpictures taken by fans), contact the copyright holder and he or she would be happy to see his/her picture on Wikipedia. And then what? How do they technically contribute the picture (if they're not interested in working for Wikipedia, only provide a picture). And after that how will I ever find it to use in an article? Or can I submit it attaching some agreement from them?
I spent hours reading everything about posting photographs on Wikipedia, I simply don't get it.
So can you please help?
Moonslide (talk) 10:50, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Moonslide. I'll copy this answer to your talk page. Otherwise, just let me know what kinds of articles you wish to add photos to, and I can walk you through it, from finding the photo, to teaching the photographer how to change their license from a copyright to one of the (2 options out of six) Creative Commons licenses that we accept, so you can upload the photos under a "free image" status too Wikimedia Commons, where we store all uploads. Then, is the simple part of adding the image from Commons to the Wikipedia article you are working upon. Normally, I find all the images I upload from Flickr (or I meet professional photographers there who allow me to select photos from their pro-websites to use). If I'm not able to help you in the manner that you need, I can certainly refer you to the great editors here who taught me, step by step. I know the photos thing is really distressing, so believe me, you sure aren't alone in this!! I've been doing it for years, that's the only difference! Keep the Faith! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 03:28, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Flickr does the trick. The first picture is up and there's more to come. Moonslide (talk) 09:04, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Glad I could help. I can still give you tips if you like! It's the least I can do.. another great editor (who now is an Admin.) had to actually give me directions like, 1. Do this 2. Now do this 3. etc. His instructions are in the archive of my talk page, if you want to look at them. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 12:41, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Thin Lizzy parodies
Thanks for that! I thought it was pretty funny to be honest, and it's certainly what a lot of people feel. I don't really have a problem with the new Thin Lizzy myself, simply because I think Lynott would be ok with it. He was all about the music living on, and that's what Gorham and co are doing. He was always joining up with other musicians and playing other people's songs as well as his own. Not so keen on Ricky Warwick though! "It's OK, at least John Sykes won't be there" hahahaha... Re:Need your Administrative help with Kaki King
There actually was an OTRS ticket, but there wasn't an explicit statement of release in it- probably best to keep the image off the article for the time being. I replied to the ticket asking for an explicit release. J Milburn (talk) 09:02, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Ron Holloway
Sources Simply put, if you can't find sources for the claim that he was a member of Dizzy Gillespie's band, then you can't insert it into this article. That's true for you and any other editor as well. If someone else keeps on inserting unsourced claims into this article, you should explain to him that Wikipedia does not publish original research and all claims have to be verifiable by credible third-party sources. If this other editor keeps on editing the article in contravention of those policies, it would be appropriate to ask for intervention or mediation. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 22:24, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Ah Well, since the subject is also the author, there is a WP:COI issue here as well. Simply put, don't get so emotionally invested in this; he's trying to use Wikipedia for promotion, which is fine and well to the extent that he's adding to the encyclopedia. If he's making a link farm out of an article (which it presently is), then that's not fine and while it's not forbidden to edit an article on yourself, it is discouraged, and plenty more so when you have an explicit interest in self-promotion. If his edits are detrimental to the article, then I suggest contacting an admin. If you want to re-write it, you certainly can revert it back to the last time it was a B article and start from there; that sounds like an improvement to me. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 00:01, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- Sure Feel free to add that this guy played with all of these musicians, but note that you should have a source for that claim and you should add that to each article that you edit. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 00:43, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Maryland musicians list
See here I have amended List of Maryland music people as you asked; the trick with Duritz and Lofgren was removing "thumb" from their pictures. "Thumb" makes there be a border around the image suitable for a caption underneath, but that's not really necessary here (honestly, the pictures aren't necessary at all, but...) I amended Ron Holloway's entry per {{Tone}} and added {{Cn}} I hope you get better soon. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 20:29, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Populaire Musica
Hi Leah, good hearing from you again! When I'm creating books, I mainly create them on two merits: The first is that I must have some sort of interest in the topic, and the second is that the topic must be (or use to be) extremely popular in mainstream society. If you've noticed the images I've used in my books, two of them are by David Shankbone, one of my personal favorite photographers who gives Wikipedia permission to let us use his images. The Book:Mariah Carey image is by him, this is one of my very best and favorite books I created. I would especially appreciate (I know I've asked before) if might you find something for Book:Cream, please? If you would like me to create a book for you, just let me know, and I'd be glad to. Best, --Discographer (talk) 20:59, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'm surprised you don't use that image of Jaco for Portrait of Tracy. I might have to use it for a future book I'll create on this great maestro! Oh, I basically stopped listenning to new music around 1990, so I'm not as young as one may think! Sadly, when the demise of the vinyl 45 rpm single occured, and at that same time technology changed to the cassette single format (circa 1989-1991), the demise of good quality music also took place. It is just so ironic how at a time when we get better technology for music that the music itself just takes an overnight dive. We can't win for losing! After '93, we was weeping! Best, --Discographer (talk) 22:01, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- That sounds good, yes. Okay, I'm going to have me a nice glass of sherry and eat some marzipan while contemplating what exactly I might work on concerning Jaco. I shall get back to you sometime soon! Best, --Discographer (talk) 22:34, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
John Frusciante
Hi, I remember you writing on my talk page a while back about the need to clean up the John Frusciante article. I had been keeping an eye on it for the primary author while he took an extended Wiki-break, and I must confess that I haven't been able to give it much attention lately. Tonight I finally got around to cleaning it up, and I'll try to keep closer watch on it. As I'm not really knowledgeable about the man beyond the bare facts, I would appreciate any help in adding new news about him as it becomes available. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:01, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think the biggest help would be keeping an eye on the main sources of music news (Rolling Stone, NME, Spin, The Guardian, Mojo, Pitchfork) and giving me a heads-up if something needs to be worked in, in addition to the reference link or the text and cite info that needs to be referenced from print media. By all means I recommend adding new info yourself to the article as you see it, but if you're not sure if something's worth mentioning in the "big picture" that is the man's article, give me a holler.
- By the way, I see you're a Peter Gabriel fan. I hope to work on something Gabriel-related eventually, and would love to work with you if you're down. I don't have the time nor drive anymore to write whole articles myself these days. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:16, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

1. I don't know. I'm not that good with image policy. You might want to ask someone else. 2. I can't remember how to create categories on commons. I'm not there often. As for OTRS, that's a more complicated process you have to get approved for — it's for approving outside e-mails to the Wikimedia foundation. I don't know why you'd think you "need" it. Hi Leah,
That should be cleaned up now. I think the problem was caused by a new editor posting messages at the top of your talk page, so when you came to archive material from 2009, there was stuff from Aug 2010 at the top... confusing!
I wasn't sure if you wanted Archive 6 to be from the beginning of Jan 2010 to the "beginning" or "end" of Jul 2010. I went for "beginning" as six months appealled to my OCD!

Reviewer granted
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Nikkimaria (talk) 18:27, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Is this what you were asking about? Technically the trial is over, but pages are still having this protection applied because we can't figure out what to do between now and November. If you're interested, pick an article or two off the list - preferably ones you know something about - and add them to your watchlist. That way, when there are unreviewed changes, you'll be notified. Your conflict with Ronsax
Hello. Considering that you are in a conflict with Ronsax (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), that Ronsax claims that he has forwarded harrassing e-mails by you to the police, and that Ronsax is currently blocked for this, I would like to ask you to agree not to continue editing the article Ron Holloway or its talk page, so as to help deescalate the conflict. Also, you are in a personal and potentially legal dispute with the subject of the article and therefore in a conflict of interest. What do you think? Sandstein 14:41, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes! I discontinued any contact with Ron Holloway (User:Ronsax) and his various talk pages after my last post on the Ron Holloway talk page; 23:58, 6 October 2010 (UTC). I left a note on your talk page. Thanks. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 16:13, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- Although this is more related to policy, you might wish to know that I have started a discussion at WP:ANI#Review_of_NLT_Block (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:53, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
Interaction ban
As a result of this discussion on WP:ANI, in order to deescalate their conflict, Ronsax (talk · contribs) and Leahtwosaints (talk · contribs) are by community consensus banned from interacting with each other on Wikipedia, as described at WP:Banning policy#Interaction ban. In particular, this means that they may not edit each other's user and user talk space; may not reply to each other in discussions; may not make reference to or comment on each other anywhere on Wikipedia, whether directly or indirectly; and they may not undo each other's edits to any page (whether by use of the revert function or by other means). Any violations of this interaction ban by the other party may be reported to an uninvolved administrator, by whose decision about how and whether to act on it the parties are required to abide without further discussion.
In addition, Leahtwosaints, my personal recommendation to you is that you continue to refrain from editing the article Ron Holloway, as per your agreement above and also to minimize any chance of this conflict escalating again. Thanks, Sandstein 10:45, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
Small Faces and copyright protection

Hi Leah, there are a few articles on the Starbucks Hear Music compilation releases, see Category:Hear Music compilation albums, but they are mostly for 'various artists' type releases, not those for just a single artist.
