The "show preview" button is right next to the "save page" button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Codename Lisa (talk) 09:28, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Microsoft Hearts. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Jasper Deng (talk) 23:16, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Microsoft Hearts - verified win rate 56%

[edit]

Hi.

I am moving the reply here, because that talk page will be deleted soon. Anyway...

No problem bro. I understand that social media has brought about bad habits. People write poorly, use screenshots without a care for copyright, etc. Sorry. Wikipedia is the serious work. We take copyright seriously and writing must be at least mediocre. Yes, it could be shocking to work on a section for five hours and then see it deleted. (In past, it was more brutal: People wrote books on papers and sent them to publishers. After a few agonizing days, the publishers would reject them!)

But I have good news too: as longs as you learn from this and do not commit the same mistakes in the future, nobody here will take this case against you. A newcomer in Wikipedia is allowed to make the gravest possible mistakes.

Please start by reading WP:5P and make sure you don't mistakenly upload your work to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. I'll stand by to assist if needed.

Best regards,

Removed request for arbitration

[edit]

To edit about the Israel-Palestine Conflict your account must have 500 edits and be 30 days or older. Because your account does not meet these requirements, your I removed your request for arbitration. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 09:31, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please read my response to Deepfriedokra(below). I have not made any edits. The page is closed to edits. Evemn if I wanted to, I can't because the page has been closed to editing. I am requesting arbitration. You have summarily dismissed my request. This is not arbitration. Lynton1 (talk) 10:36, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

I have not edited anything. I have requested arbitration regarding a blood libel page endorsed by Wikipedia policy and closed off to reasonable editing. The page is false political propaganda. Who can I appeal to? Lynton1 (talk) 10:30, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
