U of L motto

[edit]

Thank you for your highly detailed editing to the University of Louisville article. It's very welcome. However, Wikipedia articles and encyclopedia articles in general are descriptive, not proscriptive. That means that we talk about what is, rather than what should be, or what will be (unless it is soon-to-be and can be clearly documented). The current motto is "Dare to be great". If it is to change, then perhaps add prose in the article about what it is to be changed to, along with a reference. Then, when the motto does actually change, update the infobox. It actually matters not one bit what U of L or anyone wants in this. The article can only reflect current fact. Thanks for your efforts! Stevie is the man! TalkWork 19:57, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As always, I very much appreciate your edits to UofL related articles. I just wanted to request that when content is removed from an article that you use the edit summary to explain why it's being deleted -- this will ensure that others understand why it's no longer there and won't restore it. Cheers! Stevie is the man! TalkWork 14:31, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Confederate government of Kentucky

[edit]

Thanks for your contribution to the FA discussion for Confederate government of Kentucky. I would appreciate your comments on the rest of the article, and if you feel you can support it for FA, that would also be appreciated. Acdixon 14:13, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This weekend would be great, and don't worry about it if you don't get to it. BTW, great work on cleaning up the Kentucky-Louisville rivalry article. It was such a mess! Now we've got something to build on if we can get a few of us together. Acdixon 17:16, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just wanted to let you know that this nomination was restarted by the FA director. If you have time and would like to review the article, your comments are appreciated. Thanks. Acdixon 14:10, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:29, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
