Church of Christ

[edit]

I saw your edit on the Joseph Smith discussion page. The church founded by Joseph Smith went through several names. The first name used was the Church of Christ. As you pointed out, this Church of Christ had nothing to do with Campbell's church; it is just coincidence that the names were similar. Storm Rider (talk) 00:41, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When you go to the Church of Christ page you will see a section called "Early Changes to the Church's Name" that talks about the confusion between the names. Also, when you go to Churches of Christ you see additional information. There are far more churches that use this title than just Campbell's. If a reader reads the entire article, then she is sure to gain an understanding of the difference between the two churches.
However, anytime similar or the same name is used for a religious belief it is confusing. It is one of the reasons Latter-day Saints (LDS) prefer that no other religious group within the Latter Day Saint Movement use the name Mormon. Though LDS prefer the term LDS to Mormon, it is simply too confusing when other groups are identified as Mormon in the media when they are not LDS. Cheers. Dealing with vandals

[edit]

Thanks for patrolling the transsexualism article today. When someone vandalizes a page, please follow the steps on Wikipedia:Vandalism, inlcuding adding warnings on their talk page. Admins usually won't block someone until they have been warned per guidelines, so you need to take those steps first. I warned the IP editor in question twice. Once you have warned the editor, you can make a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Thanks again for all your efforts! Jokestress 21:01, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CVU status

[edit]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you!
