Userbox

Hi there... I'm currently using the "vandalized" userbox which you have setp up but I was wondering if you could set up another userbox for being "harassed"? Thanks and cheers~! --Dave1185 talk 10:18, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey. Feel free to create it yourself in User:UBX's userspace. Just copy and paste the code to a new page and replace the word "vandalized" with "harassed". —METS501 (talk) 16:42, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi

Hello,

I was wondering if you can give me back User:100110100? In the past, I had to explain what I wouldn't do to get me blocked again. Is there any other process I must go thru?174.3.111.148 (talk) 20:16, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, you're indefinitely blocked, and I might add for good reason. —METS501 (talk) 18:55, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Infoserve Page

Hi,

I am attempting to create a company page fro Infoserve, which was deleted on the 13th December 2006, I beleive for advertisement

Would it be possible to create a new page or reinstate the previous one (without the advertismenet)?

Thanks

Infoserve (talk) 16:56, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

This is the text (by User:Mikeinleeds):
Founded in 1999, Infoserve Group plc is a local search marketing company based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The company employs around 120 sales staff across two offices in Leeds and Stockton-on-Tees, and has a further 47 staff working from its Leeds head office. Infoserve currently operates 130 of its own specific industry vertical websites, and powers a further 150 business websites. Infoserve’s most well known product is the online business directory www.city-visitor.co.uk
Infoserve's website can be found at www.infoserve.com
Make sure to follow the proper style guidelines and cite some sources (maybe one such as this) to make the page more legitimate. —METS501 (talk) 21:35, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Userbox problem

Hi there!

I'd like to start for apologizing that I didn't come to you first, I hadn't looked at the user page of UBX, merely the contributions (to check if contacting you was likely to be worthwhile). Please go here where I've outlined my concern over one of the userboxes you've worked with, when you've the time to do so.

Thanks for your time. A F K When Needed 20:36, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Mets didn't create, endorse, etc. this userbox. You may wish to nominate it at WP:MFD. –xenotalk 20:44, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for the comment!
Since he's an Administrator, if he feels it appropriate he can delete himself without the need to involve others. Also, if he disagrees, he can discuss it with me first and possibly change my stance on the matter without others needing to be involved.
Cheers. A F K When Needed 21:07, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks xeno for the response. I just went ahead and deleted the userbox, no worries. You're right, it's probably over the line. —METS501 (talk) 00:58, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

NowCommons

Hi, recently Multichill has started NowCommons tagging a lot of images that are duplicate to Commons images. It would be helpful if your old MetsBot checks could be run on these nominations, to check for potential problems (mostly missing OTRS tickets, which i've seen a couple of times now, missing old upload history). Perhaps just create lists of potential problematic NowCommons taggings, instead of adding the information to the imagepage itself? That ways these images can be triple checked by admins. I see the bot hasn't run for quite a while, so perhaps if you know of a better venue for such a thing ? —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 20:31, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey. You're right the bot hasn't run for quite a while, and I doubt it would work correctly anymore (too many changes within Wikipedia). I may rebuild it at some point in the future (when I've got some free time) but for now, I'm afraid I can't really help you out. You might try WP:BOTREQ and see if anyone is able to to it for you, though. —METS501 (talk) 17:40, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Request for comment: User talk:UBX/NBA-Thunder

Since you run the userboxes, I want you to take a look at this controversy. User:BillTunell has reverted the OKC Thunder userbox from its standard form to one he designed. I asked him what was wrong with the current style and that I wished for all of them to be kept uniform, but he refuses to give any leeway saying "there's no policy against it". What would your solution be? Tom Danson (talk) 14:33, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

UBX userbox repository

I recently gave a Third Opinion at User_talk:UBX/NBA-Thunder and for the first time came across (actually more like blindly did a failfall into a face plant over, if you'll see the discussion there) the UBX respository and the userbox migration project. I have a question about the repository and a related second question about userboxes migrated into a user's userspace.

  • Do you consider the templates stored there to be open for consensus editing to the same degree as if they were in the template namespace or do you, personally, retain some say over whether and how they are to be edited, it being your user namespace?
  • Is that generally true? How are users supposed to know whether a userbox created in a user's namespace is a migrated one intended for public use, and if so whether it is open for consensus editing, or whether it was just created for that user's private use?

For example, I have a couple of userboxes in my user space — e.g. User:TransporterMan/Templates/OTR — that I created mainly for my private use, but then made public by listing them at Wikipedia:Userboxes. I suppose by making them public I potentially opened them up to public editing, but I'd at least be a bit disgruntled if someone edited them without asking me first (not that they couldn't use some editing), since they're stored in my userspace. The existence of the migration project seems to invite that kind of editing, however, since migrated userboxes do not appear, as far as I can tell, any different than those created by a user in his own userspace for his own use unless you dig into their history logs. Thank you and best wishes, TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 14:35, 5 May 2010 (UTC).

I responded on the talk page of the userox. Pretty much, just stop worrying about it and move on to edit the actual encyclopedia. It will make everyone happier and we'll have better articles too! —METS501 (talk) 03:59, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that you have revised either Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.

I intend to revise those articles following the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines. There are more details on the discussion pages of those articles. I'd be interested in any comments you have. It would be best if your comments were on the discussion pages of the two articles.

Thank you.
